    Tracy,

    That needless meanness and obviously idiotic statement is reprehensible. WTF was that person thinking, sending you something so toxic? You'd think they hate you for burning down their house with their new puppy in it. Gees.

      Agreed, it's a needlessly shitty thing to say.

      How're you coping with the baclofen Tracy? I've read in a couple of spots that you have had to reduce? Sorry if you have just posted this information, I son't really have the time sadly to go back in threads these days...

        I reduced by 20 (possibly 40) mg to the dose I would have been had I followed Dr. L's instructions to begin with. Doing quite well and learned the hard way that rushing it is a bad idea in my own case.

              The moda came. I like it. It's not like speed, none of that speedy kind of feeling or nervousness or jumpiness or the like. It definitely counters any sleepies. One drawback, I get so involved in whatever I'm working on (and I'm working a lot!), that I forget to eat. I just as soon not take the time and energy to make something, so I'm thinking of what to do for an easy, drinkable (AF please) meal.

              Other than that, I'm doing nasty, dirty chores that I've procrastinated on for a few years! Doesn't feel nasty or dirty - it just feels really good to be moving. I have patience enough to see brain-numbing jobs all the way through, and energy enough to get 'er done. It's not like any kind of stimulant (not even like coffee) - it's just like having a really, really good day!

              I've also become aware of how spacey I had become. For days I've been using paper towels as coffee filters because I couldn't find the dang things. I knew I had a whole stack of them and knew that I had seen them very recently. Indeed, I've seen them everyday - in the freezer. I just realized it today.

              I'm not going to take them everyday because people do develop a tolerance to the stuff. Wow, I really hope it is the med and NOT that I'm just having a really good day. It sure would be nice if I could feel this good on a regular basis!

              Hugs all around. :l

                Sounds very encouraging Tracy. It's a prescription only drug, is that right?

                  I'm glad you are feeling good Tracy. Was it expensive? Yes, I will be at the meet up in Chicago. I live there.

                    Little late to chime in about the All-One, but here's my $.015 worth. Use the Rice-Based formula. Or Fruit-Based. The Fruit stuff actually has slightly fewer aminos, so I don't use it much, but the Rice-Based is totally gack-less. I mix it with 5 grams of l-glutamine, 1 tsp of lemon fish oil and a variety of other aminos. Yummy. Not only did I get to quit anti-depressants, I quit drinking coffee!:upset: I thought I would hold on to that addiction to my grave. Oh, and I lost 35 lbs. No idea why, exactly, except the l-glute kills my appetite. Onward, baclofentists!!

                      Cool, Red. I'll see you in Chicago.

                      RedFeather, thanks for that. I remembered someone saying something about the different types, but they only have the original here. I'll stop by Vitamin Cottage (or whatever it is nowadays) and pick up some of the rice-based All One.

                      Yes, Bleep, it is a prescription medication. Yes, Red, it is expensive (at least to me). About $2.50 per pill and I took two today, so $5 per day.

                      I hated to see the sun going down because I'm not ready to settle in for the night - I do not want the day to be over. Wow. That's really something for me, especially since being on the bac.

                      One concern is that, for me, it really is some kinda kick-ass appetite depressant, which is not a good thing for a person who tends towards hypoglycemia. I ate about 9:00 this morning, took the stuff when it came (around 10:30) and have been gulping Carnation Instant Breakfast and yogurt drinks because I just don't have an appetite. But, I have no appetite for beer tonight either. Opened one several hours ago, took a couple sips and put it in the fridge, where it's still sitting.

                          Well, like I said, I'm not going to take it every day. I suspect it will be significantly less expensive with a prescription (I hope so!). But for what I go through in booze and smokes, tis but a pittance.

                            Was just joking - I spend considerably more than that on baclofen, and booze in the past. I'm glad to hear you find it so effective. I'm looking for something similar, but am having great difficulty in this part of the world. Still, success will be mine, somehow!

                              Tracy, is moda like ritalin? It sounds like just the ticket for me, and my aforementioned learning disabilities or whatever my family has. You should see my garage, my closet, my OFFICE!!! I need to have that ability to follow through and get it done, because every weekend I start about 20 things and get all the way through maybe 6 of them. Then go sit on my ass.

                              Don't tell me this is the stuff that raises blood pressure?:upset:

                                Bruun, I so relate! I've always wanted to get things done, but don't approach anything in reasonable order, and I get side-tracked, and tedium drives me CRAZY. It has really helped me with that.

                                I don't know if it is like ritalin, but it is used for ADHD. It's not an amphetamine but is considered a "wakefulness promoting agent." It can raise blood pressure but, from what people here have told me, in some people it does and in some people it doesn't. The warnings I have seen on it say not to use with uncontrolled moderate to high blood pressure. But it says to use with caution otherwise with high-blood pressure (hypertension) and monitor your HR and BP. Here are all the "use with caution" groups:

                                * Elderly people.
                                * Heart disease.
                                * High blood pressure (hypertension) (blood pressure and heart rate should be monitored).
                                * Kidney failure.
                                * Liver failure.
                                * Severe anxiety.
                                * People with a history of psychosis, depression or mania.
                                * People with a history of drug, alcohol or substance abuse.

                                It is not risk-free. It can be habit forming. I don't know if it would be a good choice for you or not. Could you ask your doc?
