Depresion, baclofen, Ad French forum A B

    Hi Tracy,

I haven't heard or read that Drs Joussaume and De beaurepaire recommended Adafranil/olmifon..Dr/Pr Jaury does..
I've asked Dr Joussaume about adafranil today..So I'll have the answer shortly..
And didn't know about Piracetam when I posted my question to Dr Joussaume..
But I will...From what I've read on the internet (French articles), Piracetam works better for elderlies without the SE of adafranil..

    Thanks for the information

Oops, Florie, I misread what you wrote and thought that Joussaume and De beaurepaire recommended it. I just hope it works.

        Hello Florieanne

It is good to see you here sharing what is happening in France. We are having a great deal of difficulty in the UK finding doctors who will prescribe Baclofen.

I wonder if your GP might know of any doctors here or if Oivier Ameisen knows of doctors here who can help us.

I am a member of the forum in France but I have not posted there yet as my French is not as good as your English.

I wonder if any other members of that forum will be coming to MWO. Perhaps you should invite them. There is a lot of good information here and I am sure everyone here would like to hear more about what Dr. Ameisen is doing.

        Olivier Ameisen

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

          hello Otter

One of our members, from Canada, has joined MWO today after I had given the link to your forum on my thread. I have also used your forum to answer a few questions on some threads on ours and asked Dr Joussaume questions about things I have read here.

We have decided to open a special thread for me to make a link between your forum and ours so as to transfer information.
I'll give you the link to that thread so that your members can ask questions in English there
and get the information they need..if we can answer...
A thrilling thing to do, isn't it?
          The best to you,
          Florieanne

Florie, it occurred to me that not everyone would be watching this thread. You might want to start a new one about the French forum and MWO being able to communicate. Especially since you have access to a GP! A lot of people here do not have that.

Indeed, this is a great development - I am busy reading through your forum, although I fear that the translator is dropping some important stuff. Some very interesting stuff. Thanks for this.

I have a million questions, but I think a lot of them will be answered by going through the forum. Frustratingly, the search feature doesn't work so well through the translate.

                      Hi Florianne,

I just posted in ressonse to your post about ADs on my baclofen dosing record thread. I don't think it will be much help, as it is just my opinion.

Should have included l-tryp (which is another form of 5-HTP -- or vice versa), and others. I would check into contraindications with all these fairly strong supplements.

Personally, I think the lithium orotate is very worth looking into for depression.

I greatly appreciate (as do so many others here -- and eventually in the world will), that you are taking this initiative to connect the two sites and the information and the cross-pollination. It is indeed a thrilling thing.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

                        Hi Florieanne.

Alerted by your comment on Ne's thread and came to check out your thread. Fantastic news about the link you are setting up. Still so many unanswered questions.

Maybe I should wait .......... ...................... enough waiting! Do you know any of the reasons why Dr Levin recommends staying at the switch dose when the general consensus is to taper to a maintenance dose?

I will wait longer if I need to and sorry I can't be any help with your original query. Thanks for coming here.
Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12

I've been trying to read too, through a free translator, which savagely butchers French. I think I'm seeing valuable stuff. I think I saw one in the "ask the doc" forum that looked similar to stuff that a few people here are going through regarding anxiety.

I also think I saw a part where the doc said not to titrate up more quickly because the cure would not happen more quickly - BUT I'M NOT SURE. :upset:

Apologies in advance not asking for permission, but if it's helpful, here's the free-translator garbled message.

Despite ?a,attaques of panique,m?me in sleep... that paralyzes me and brings back me to the bottle.. Certainly not, the cure will go not more quickly; but the secondary effects, yes! The baclof?ne allows only the eviction of your addiction to alcohol, it does not heal traumatisms of life or of the psychiatric problems that each can have besides AND THAT L ALCOHOL MASKED... Await that the deroxat, very r?cent, fasse his effect? Yes, previously I thank you d'avance.. Zazou,d?courag?e but always there... The doc, done not discourage for you and always there also...

                            Hi everyone,

I do have a lot of work for the two or three coming days and huge difficulties concentrating on it as I still have sleep attacks in spite of the adafranil.
I 'll start translating back and forth one or two hours a day on wednesday.
Now what you can do is ask your questions in English on that thread (which is yours, on our forum) :
                            USA :: Alcool et Baclofène

There are other bilingual people on our forum. Just have to click on "r?pondre" (= reply) and ask what you want to ask...I'll translate the questions.. and the answers...
or copy here the original passage you want me to translate ( and not a mixture of both languages which makes it harder for me) and I'll do my best for the two coming days... since it keeps me much more alert than the work I have to do at home .. and instead of drinking gallons of coffee ..I 'll try to help bit by bit...
                            Cheers
                            Florie

There is a lot of info on Lithium Orotate floating around here re: ADs. Might be worth checking out?
