Taking Baclofen on holiday /Through customs

Hi Phil, I just returned from a trip to England (from America) and I was worried about the same thing as you. I am currently on 200 a day and put the amount I needed in my cosmetic case in my checked suitcase, but then (just in case) brought another full load with me on my carry on just in case one of them got taken out....

There were no issues with either lot of them. No questions what so ever through customs on anything in my carry bag and everything in place in my checked suitcase when I arrived.

Hope this gives you some peace of mind.

I was under the impression that baclofen can be bought over the counter without a prescription in Spain. At least it was my intention to go on holiday there (from Germany) and drive back with 56,000 packets of baclofen up every orifice. Could be I'm wrong... someone know for sure?

Yes it was me. Mallorcan pharmacies are very lax in selling prescription drugs without a prescription. I asked one girl in a pharmacy if it was ok and she just said, "I sold it to you". I just don't think the regulators are that rigorous. I suppose it depends on the type of medicine. Some will sell Baclofen and some won't, it is hit and miss. I think there must be something going on with people using it to come off cocaine because it seemed to be available in the sort of places you would expect people to be doing cocaine, Arenal, Port of Soller, Arta. Very wealthy or very druggy. If you find a pharmacy that will give it to you then they will order you in whatever you want, more or less.

You can get it without any problem in Cyprus, specifically the Northern Turkish Republic of Cyprus, which is, as you know, an area occupied militarily by Turkey so it is a bit lawless. Regulating the supply of Baclofen is probably a fair ways down on their political agenda.

We know people there who can buy it. I may ask if they would send some more.

I don't think Ireland is the way for us. It sounds as problematical as getting a prescription here. I am thinking of going into a doctor in Mallorca and seeing if we can get a prescription there which we can use here or getting a few months supply on prescription there. It is all a pain in the a..

I think if you get searched to the degree where they are asking you about what pills you are carrying, you're having a really bad day. Surely there are legal implications in confiscating somebody's medicine, they can't just take your stuff - what if, as is the case with baclofen, you can't stop taking it?

I think you'll be fine, but obviously you can't base your holiday on that. Sorry for not being much help. Help raises a good point, have your stash in a couple of places.

It's not a stash it's medicine. And squireling about the place makes you look suspicious, like you're hiding drugs. Thats the worst possible advise, sorry Bleep.

Take them out, put them on a side pocket. Explain that you're on a high dosage, and theres severe withdrawals if you run out. You're taking your prescription medication from one EU country to another.

One thing I will say bounce is well you're grand. Go into any pharmacy in spain and ask for some bachlofen and show them your current tablets. You should be grand. In fact take this as a opportunity to stock up!

You are right Long, thanks. Not a very well thought out post.

It's just I come from a long line of smugglers, it's considered an art form to get things through customs! Your honest approach would never have occurred to me, but on reflection, it's clearly the better approach.

If the wrong customs nazi finds you with an open bottle they're not going to care what it says on the label, they're just going to see a bunch of pills that they can't identify. However, if your tablets are in foil strips even the most suspicious customs drone will assume they are what it says on the strip and if that medicine isn't on their controlled substance list you should be fine.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you couldn't fit 56,000 packets up your orifices. But then again I suppose it depends how long and how hard you practice beforehand. I think dedication and perseverance is key here.:moon:

Yes Bleep is funny, I used to think he was just being stupid but realised it's all in good humour.

One of my worries is that I'm going to be going to some music events soon. Now over hear if you are found in a nightclub or festival with white pills, it is assumed to be Ecstacy and bouncers either eject you, or call the police. I don't fancy a night in the cells whilst they have the medication tested. I've several jars of AWD Baclofen, but also some blister strips of a different brand. So I'll take the blister strips with me as that shows it's proper, sealed medication and not that I've filled a pill bottle with e.

Please don't laugh or make a joke about this Bleep, many years ago I was in a nightclub that got raided and shut down. It wasn't nice, the police were very rough, completely over the top and my friend had to undergo a FULL search - which involved the officer putting a glove on, and poking fingers in quite intimate places. By the way they didn't find anything on her, but it was quite upsetting.

Drone, nazi - I see you hold this venerable profession in the same high esteem as myself! What on earth makes someone want to become a custom agent when they grow up? I don't remember anyone at school playing at "customs agents."

UK, sorry if you have found my humour to be offensive, it is, as you say, meant in the best possible spirit. We cross posted on the previous post, so I didn't address your issue.

I've also been in a raided nightclub, and you're right, it's far from fun. Would not like to have loose baclofen pills on me, you'd get nailed for sure. You should be okay with the blister packs though, I would imagine, and unless you plan on going for a long session, you'd probably be alright skipping the dose completely while at the club.
