The thing is this: There is no one to do the job. There is no one steering this boat, the captain jumped ship, and this place has been mostly on auto-pilot for a few years now.

I'd be surprised if just stickies happened. A new forum ain't gonna happen. Folks have been trying to get a mental health forum added for a long time and got pretty good poll numbers from all over MWO (not just here in the meds forum), and nobody who could do anything cared, probably because there is no one who could do anything.

Probably should start looking to Anon's forum for stuff like that.

It would be great if it could happen though. What Beatle said would be wonderfully organized. I do wish it was structured that way.

So no one runs the forum anymore? No one's in charge? How do they deal with spammers and abuse?

Roberta has little involvement with the forum these days at all. They only seem to remove spammers, apart from that I've reason to believe that anything goes. This is one reason I've lost faith in the forum.

That's too bad. MWO is such a great forum with potential to be even better.

Hi everybody, this will be my last post on the meds thread for awhile.

Firstly, sincere apologies to Otter for my extremely nasty retort to you. It was unforgiveable.

Secondly, I seem to have missed the boat with Campral on the meds thread. I first came here because Campral was included, mentioned, in the introduction to this site. Unfortunately there was little info at the current moment. I guess I should have just started my own thread and waited to see if I got responses ?

I, unfortunately , was also told that Campral didn't work and read that it was useless.
Not a very encouraging way to start my journey with it, feeling desperately hopeful.
I also read that people over on the general discussion site were confused old birds.

I have also now been asked if I would like to remove my posts and given instructions how do so. No, I do not want to remove my posts, reactive as they were. I have apologised to Otter publicly and I believe that what I wrote, even in anger, is valid.

It was so encouraging to me to read the posts on this thread about people who have attained sobriety in many different ways.

It is now time for me to concentrate on my sobriety, which has been sorely threatened over the last 24hrs.

Thank you to the many wonderful people here who have sent me support via pms.

See you over on GD with the old birds!

Good luck to everyone in their fight against this terrible affliction!

You didn't need to apologize but accepted anyway.

I didn't think what you said was nasty and it did not upset me so don't lose any sleep over it. The important thing is that you carry on with your battle against this illness. I am sorry that I got involved in such a negative way in this thread and upset you.

Words are powerful and we all have to watch what we say which is what this thread was about before I put my foot in it.

I will also admit that I am affected by things said here and lose a lot of sleep over it. We should not be attacking each other or anyone here because you will be hurting them and people they have befriended and it does go against the whole philosophy of this forum.

I also think it is very easy to take things literally here because we don't know each other. Some of my posts have reflected my own anger and frustration and sometimes I think I am being funny when I am actually being hurtful and I apologize for that.

              Good luck and best wishes.

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

                Missy.

I also received a pm from the same member asking me to remove my offending posts. Can't say that I was too happy to get it either.

I've also found that ignoring her is the most compassionate and sensible course of action!

Sorry about the other stuff and hope I'll see you back here sometime if not in GD. Best of luck.

                  Greeting's all. Thank's Tip.

UK and John, you've just reminded me that MWO is a great community, that is very much self regulated, and successfully so. What a stimulating forum we have here, and for a bunch of emotionally retarded (me at least) pisshead's, Bravo i say! Have faith in the very real humanity we are surrounded with here.

                  Hi Abby,

I know a bloke who finds campral useful. Of course, what work's for one, may not work for another. Stick around MWO, no matter where, and you'll find a thread or folk's you relate to. Keep it going.

I'm not a regular AA goer, but now and then, i find going to a meeting is a great way for me to be reminded of how real and destructive, the grog is. I use it to recharge, as a booster. I don't have to speak whilst i'm there, i am welcomed with open arms no matter where i go, and my attitude is, i just take what i need, and leave the rest. What i get from AA is face to face support, close up misery, as some folk share their current situation's, and close up happiness, as other's share their joy of finally being free from the chain's. Meetings can be very different, and despite AA's criticised rigidity, and apparent 5% success rate, (and that's 5% better than zero) the obvious, and outstanding benefit that i notice, is the face to face support. There are not many other places to go for a lot of folk. It's another tool, and for me, one i use sparingly.

Great thread, and best wishes on your journey everyone.

I wrote to Abby, and a couple other people, because I was deleting my posts. I knew that Otter already had edited his and also knew that the discussion was derailing Tip's thread. I also suspected, from what I know of Mario, that he would want to delete his, and he did. The thing is, when someone deletes posts and doesn't let other people know, the posts that are left can make those posters look foolish, when they were entirely appropriate given the situation. That is really a rude
thing to do, IMO. I've also clued in that there appear to be few people who know how to make a post disappear. *That* is why I wrote to Abby and others. I'm very sure that Abby was not offended and knew full well that I didn't think her post was off-target or inappropriate because we had talked about our mutual experience in PM previously.

Ig, your issues are your own and you are welcome to them. I did nothing wrong here.

I see little hope of reclaiming this thread now. Too bad.
