    Controlled release GHB

@Ukblonde: Enough alcohol mixed with Benadryl will to that. But now back to topic.

Especially the combination treatment CR GHB + low dose baclofen could be working great.

Ketamine is another drug that has been studied in a similar way (it's a GABA A agonist, I think):

Ethanol-like effects of thiopental and ketamine in healthy humans

Last time I posted this, someone had near coronary, but there is a doc in Florida who uses it to treat addiction. His approach is pretty unique:

Ketamine Psychedelic Therapy - Alternative Alcoholism Treatment - Eleusis

edited to add: Oops, wrong thread. Sorry for the confusion.

It's because GHB is present in small amounts in beer. This is why it's often used to spike beer since the taste is easily masked.

With regards to how it make you feel, a lot of people compare it to ecstasy in terms of effects. This means euphoria and relaxation.

Alcoholics also like it because GHB plus alcohol can lead to extreme euphoria. However, alcoholics should be careful because it can also lead to death. Source: ghb facts

            hey spiritwolf,
            what happens? understand what?
If is this GHB and beer its just a huge colossal stupidity...

If is something else, always verify at few "credible" sources, simply ask here or somewhere else... the web it's obviously an amazing source of information, but there are even bullshits!
And finally, take even a break on continuously searching and reading... ;-)
I say to you... but to me at same time!

It definitely keeps you off the booze but it can be a slippery slop if you've an addictive personality. Any time I get some I end up taking it during the day which leads to me taking it right through the night to sleep. The so called "rebound" effect is a real downer as your wide awake with no chance of sleep. One or twice I managed to just use it for sleep and its been the best sleep you could ever imagine. You wake feeling absolutely fantastic. The amount you have to take for a sleep dose is pretty high so you really need to make sure you in bed and in a comfortable position as you'll stay in that position the whole time.

The whole date rape thing is media spun bullshit. How anyone could spike your drink without you knowing is beyond me. It tastes like sea water. There's no way you wouldn't notice. I never got the liquid ecstasy thing either, it feels nothing like MDMA imo. To me it feels like a happy drunk feeling maybe with a bit more euphoria.

The withdrawals after continued use can be horrific but Baclofen is used to withdrawal without too much discomfort

In my opinion, if GHB is taken to get off the booze, than this would be a good example to substitute an addictive substance for another addictive substance.

The advantage is not clear to me.

I used GHB before it was a classified drug, ie legal. I didn't find it addictive BUT I did find I used it in much the same way as alcohol - I would take lots of it and fall over. Did find it useful to aid sleep when working shifts, it didn't put me off alcohol and I didn't have a problem stopping it's use once it was classified illegal. The one thing I did like about GHB was it's effects felt like alcohol, but it didn't give a hangover and was out of your system pretty quickly - if anything it was refreshing.
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.
