      Baclofen bollocks?! WTF!!!

So, were going to start deleting even more shit now? Half of these threads don't even make sense at this point. It makes everyone who responds to them appear ridiculous. Like they can't follow a rational train of thought. If people want to debate each other, post about this or that, why are they being encouraged to delete things? I agree, there have been some shitty mean things said to people on these threads. The tempers get flaring and the dark side comes out. I don't agree with it, but it is not okay to then go back and delete. For the most part anyway. Deal with it.

It's happening over and over. Maybe come to some sort of agreement after all is said and done, can happen that ends the thread in a positive manner. With a new understanding. If new people come on here and start reading and stop, well that's their problem. If they continue on they'll see that it was all figured out after all.

I agree Redhead. I was worrying at one stage about lurkers in an antabuse thread and Edostan said something to me which I remember-Lurkers have minds of their own too.
If charlieboy hadnt heard these rumours about Bac then someone else would have and a new thread would appear. At least the arguments have been covered in this thread. Deleting is just silly. Sort it out as you said and let the thread stand. Its called debate and as redhead says we have to deal with it. Its not a medical textbook written by docs. It is a chatroom with ordinary people trying drugs and thinking their way through the process in a human way.

            Baclofen bollocks?! WTF!!!

            Longshot,

Charlie was not "out of line". He doesn't understand that paramedics are best left to give advice in the field, and not on medical literature, or studies, or lack thereof (sorry if I'm offending paramedics, but it's true). They don't take any classes to understand research at all, let alone "off label" prescribing of medication.

He doesn't understand that chiropractors don't read MRI's and naturopaths, are well naturopaths. Although, here in the US they can undergo a doctoral program that educates them like an MD. Sorry I'm digressing. He now understands these things.

I know you said end of discussion, but I see you're still online. So, has the discussion really ended? It seems that were getting this thread back on track. Why do posts need to be eliminated?

                  Baclofen bollocks?! WTF!!!

Wowsers, there is something in the air tonight, that's for sure. Everyone is exploding everywhere.

I don't think Charlie was out of line, at all. He was told something, and he came here to report it. We mostly agreed it was bollocks. Long, I think you may have misinterpreted something along the way - Charlie never stated these things as facts, he was asking about them.

Regardless, I agree with most people here, deleting stuff just leads to confusion. Most new comers read a lot, so a confusing thread here and there is irrelevant, and only adds to the whole confusing morass. So it's fine if not all threads are rosy.

Longshot you are a very angry person. The anger comes in waves from your posts in MWO.I dont know what the root cause of it is but it must be a very stressful way to live. I am glad Bac worked so well for you. I hope that you can sort out all the anger stuff too at some point.Good luck.

Yep. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=manxPVTLth8[/video]]YouTube - In the Air tonight LIVE- phil collins

I agree, Charlie was not out of line, he should have posted his concerns because that is what we do here.

Those who blasted him should just "be silent."

Baclofen is not Bollocks, (although as an American who has stated this before I LOVE that word.)

                      Baclofen is a tool.

Are certain pharmacies better than others? I can't speak to that. I get mine through script.

But, if you don't, I can understand your worry.

Oh, and through script, apparently here in the US the Baclofen could be contaminated by warfarin (coumadin,) which is a blood thinner. That would be bad. I checked mine and they are not in the recall.

My thanks to those who posted the link. It would really suck to "bleed out" taking a drug for alcoholism.

and that does speak for those worried about their "off supply" pharmacies. It does not mean just because you are dealing with an offshore pharmacy that you are necessarily dealing with an unreliable source.

                      Love,
                      Cindi

                        I doubt that.

Upsher-Smith did recall batches of 10 mg bac and other drugs, including warfarin, amandatine, amlodipine, androxy, bethanechol and oxybutynin, that were all made on the same assembly line. As far as I know, they were not recalled because of "contamination" or cross-contamination between drugs but because there is a slight doubt that the dosages are correct. The reason for the doubt is that - for one day - 10 mg warfarin were packaged as 3 mg. So, AFAIK, in the case of bac, it is possible that 20 mg of bac were packaged as 10 mg of bac. I have read nothing to indicate that batches of bac were contaminated with warfarin or any other med.

Where did you read that, Cindi?

What a damn shame. I'm out of here.

It is called freedom of speech and it goes hand in hand with freedom of thought. It is not dangerous, just a bit scary at times. Just figure it out and don't run away.

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

                                Baclofen bollocks?! WTF!!!

I cannot work out how to delete this thread, I have written to MWO to ask them how to do it....I doubt they will reply.
However, I do think it should stand. Anyone reading these threads, incl newcomers, has the intelligence to weigh up a debate and really what this thread demonstrates is what a very cool bunch of level headed personalities there are on here. People who may well have one day been drunken nutbags but who are now recovered enough to stand back, see the rantings of a man in the throws of a wobbly(me) talking bollocks and stay cool, offer some great advice, reassurance and calm the whole situation down. Respect. Longshot, I can empathise totally with your anger but I think you should take a leaf out of these people's books - every debate/argument has two sides, this is a platform to voice concerns after all(we are all in it together) and the clever ones are the ones who can take a step back and reason with it all with a cool head. I am still getting out of the danger zone and have been helped along enormously on a few occasions by the good souls on this website. I have alot of affection for them and just wanted to say thanks to all of you.
I suggest we try and end this thread here and let it slowly drop down the list. It will be there but it won't be in the faces of newcomers. A good compromise I think.
I will post on my old thread with any developments, no news on MRI yet. I ran myself into the ground thats the bottom line and any normal BAC user has nothing to fear at all - but as per all the very cool responses on here, I think u already know that!
                                All best
                                Cheers
