    Baclofen bollocks?! WTF!!!

Charlie, I am a newbie and I vote let the thread stand. I think everything should be open for discussion in regard to Bac. You are going through alot with headaches etc. and I would have been worried too, with the comments made by your medical friend. This thread will help someone else who might be alarmed by what professionals say. If you can't come here with fears then where can you go.

With me being new to Bac I would be alarmed if some discussions were hushed. I want to hear all experiences not just the good stuff.

    Hope your feeling better. r

      Hiya Charlie. and welcom Z!
      You can't delete a thread unless you're a subscriber.
      Don't worry about it.

I also vote for the thread staying and for people not deleting their posts.

I have been on the bad end of this many times -- when my responses to posts were left standing when others deleted their posts which had provoked my response in the first place. This is not fair play, it is degrading and demotivating to the other posters, and most importantly, it diminishes and depletes the worth of MWO. The threads become confusing and useless. Just the shell of some people's egos clashing.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

I, too, vote for the thread staying open.

There are times when being uncomfortable is a good thing.

We are all trying to find our way out.

It doesn't matter if we can find this thread or not.

          It matterrs.

          Every single day.

          Okay. It matters.

          Love,

            Baclofen bollocks?! WTF!!!

Not sure what has been going on here, but in a nutshell a friend of Charlie's has scared him. So he's had an MRI scan. The only thing that jumps right out is that Charlie is asking all sorts of 'professional' people for advice. Most of whom do not understand Baclofen use in this context.

The professional's I spoke to(nurse and very experienced pharmacist) did point me in the direction of the side effects. Based upon those, which do look fairly serious on the face of it and the fact there is little proof of effectiveness, plus the fact I did very well last summer without any chemical aids. Well they asked me to try and do it the same as last year. Which was fine because there were some pretty heavy situations in my life which did contribute to me drinking again, so not necessarily a failure of the method(s) I was using.

I obviously took this onboard, and those people did become supportive of my baclofen use when they saw it working for me.

Someone who works in the ambulance service, even as a nurse will not necessarily know of the benefits of Baclofen use at all. To them they just see the very strong side-effects, and based upon that say no-way. Which is fair enough, they are acting on knowing that on the face of it Baclofen can appear to be a scary drug.

You showed your MRI scan to your Chiropractor. I don't know anything about the training they go through, but I would imagine it doesn't cover MRIs. All I would say Charlie is get the best possible advice. Stop for a minute, think and be careful. You are only going to cause yourself more upset, worry and stress. The Chiropractor was probably out of his depth, and for him to say anything either way would have been wrong. I do understand what it can be like though, you are worried and seek out anyone who might have some medical training in order to give you reassurance. I often have to stop myself and say calm down, wait until you see the Doctor.

Hope you get something positive out of this, and can come back and report the results. Maybe find someone you can trust and stick to them, whether it's Dr Chick, or your GP. My GP is going off to find out exactly how Baclofen could affect all sorts of areas of my life. So even if she doesn't prescribe, she knows what to expect and can offer support. She will be my first port of call should anything worrying come up.

Actually just had a quick look at Chiropractor's qualifications. Does appear they do follow similar educational programme as for a medical degree, but perhaps without the practical experience. I'd still not expect them to be able to diagnose from an MRI. Maybe they can, but I'd doubt it.
