Girl, there are still good, solid, reliable people on this website (as good and reliable as alkies can be) and you need to team up with them. When I was on Bac we had a great dialogue going... and yous guys can do that again.

WE had that going on Chi. Say, hmmm, a couple of weeks ago. It IS going on still, though the distractions are overwhelming.
What is most disheartening is that the other threads, the ones with people actually participating thoughtfully, are languishing. And people need us. I need us.
That's not on the haters. That's on the rest of us.

What Ne said.
(Except the part about telling newbies to stop whining. I don't agree, but that's not relevant here.)
Everything Ne wrote (besides the newbies whining part) is exactly how I feel, and ftr, many others feel here.
Those who choose to brush it under the table, drunks will be drunks, it's in the nature of the beast, it will blow over, etc. are living in their own world, and I say:
enjoy it.
It's not my world anymore. At least not the world I want to live in.
It's ruining my life, and I know when to leave a sinking ship.Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

I've never been so offended or put off in my 10 months visiting here daily as I have been in the last week. The AA thread? The psychosomatic thread? Several others. Several! In as many days, that disgust me.
It is the same people time and again who participate in this. Even the ones I like and agree with have written things that appall and offend me.
Free speech, dialogue, discussion, debate, I'm in. Vitriolic bull shit in taking the guise of passion? It doesn't jeopardize my sobriety but it does worm it's hateful way into my world. I don't think hateful is too strong a word, not by any stretch.
I'm also tired of hearing about or catching flak, ftr, from people off line about all of this shit. I won't be bullied off, and don't want to hear anyone else threatening to do it unless they've done something to address it.
For those people who feel left out, I've got this to say: Quit whining and reach out. I've pmd EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. What do you want, exactly? An invite to dinner? And read the threads. Quit wasting my time.
For those that think they are helping by interjecting their experiences with bac for an earache:
enough said.
For those that CONTINUE to sow anger and hard feelings, hurtfulness and hate, well, I don't meditate enough. (I like you all individually, ironically. Ironic because I can't stand you when you get all passionate.) If you want to spew stuff, including expletives but even just drama, START A THREAD! STAY THERE! LEAVE THE NEWBIES ALONE!!! Antagonistic drunk and annoying, the lot of you, except the one that isn't drunk. I'm not sure what the excuse is there. Not everyone can separate the person from the disease. They shouldn't have to.
I hate MWO right now for the first time since I got here.

What The Hell Is Going On Here????
Just for the record, I was rude and hateful towards a particular member on the forum last night. I had been drinking, as some of us, in early sobriety tend to do. I can be particularly nasty ...........but when sober, I believe I am a nice person, intelligent and caring.
Unfortunately I do not have a very good track record with this member which mostly stems from a private message telling me I was a half wit, didn't know what I was talking about and to f... off. That is no excuse to jump in on a thread and hurl disguised abuse at this person. In saying that, his reply back (telling people not to reply to me and it will encourage me) was, imo , dismissive and also abusive. I also demanded accountability from another member when I myself was not accountable. I apologise for that.

You sent me an offensive pm and you received one in return. Your abuse yesterday was anything but disguised. If you're looking for a fight, try the pub. Sorry, I'm not interested.

Dear Newbies,
Please feel free to share anything you want under any circumstances. Drunk, sober, scared witless, over- and under-reacting, passionate, exuberant, pissed off or ebullient.
We're here, we're listening and our only agenda is to support and find support.
:l

Not new? Not posting stuff that is relevant or helpful? Use some of the tools and take a look at yourself. If you're abusive on a newbie thread I'm going to report you without hesitation or remorse. If you need to act out do it on a thread where someone has reached indifference and a modicum of serenity. (There are A LOT of them at the moment.) We love you too, but we're not going to put up with the abuse of people fighting for their lives.

I actually thought it was a joke between a few of you to begin with, maybe an April Fool's day thing.
I wonder if AA would have an explanation for this? I wonder if some of you are getting off alcohol too quickly or if it's an effect of baclofen that hasn't yet been talked about much.
If I get annoyed this much I tend to use something to calm myself down a bit, although these days I'm not taking much at all if possible.

You are a key player in these hate threads, and statements. I have seen numerous times whether deleted or not, that you say very inappropriate things.
Yes, I admit it. I have a bad temper from time to time and say some stupid things. I have also tried to contribute and help roll back some of these "hate" threads and a lot of it has been directed at me over the past 6 or 7 months when I was in no state to deal with it.
The AA thread was a rational debate over a very important subject. It was being suggested by Tip that we somehow show the same respect to AA as other treatments and I wanted to test the water and see what the feeling was. I am sorry it generated such deep feeling in one way but in another way, perhaps I was just expressing the despair I experience when every doctor I speak to about this issue, bar none, still feels they must pay lip service to AA.
I don't like people who are morally spineless, whether they are here or are professionals. This is an incredibly important issue and we are losing sight of that by falling back into discussions about whether old and useless practices should be shown some respect when they have failed virtually everyone who has ever tried them.
We are standing at the gateway to a new age of medical treatment of one of the most serious illnesses that afflicts mankind. It has nearly destroyed me, my wife, my son, our extended family... How much more despair do you want to hear about? Would it suffice to say it has been a rollercoaster ride through hell?
So, yes, from time to time I get annoyed and upset by people coming on here and nay saying, missing the point, dragging the whole debate down the toilet with attacks on people who aren't even here etc. and yes, I have thrown myself into the debate at times too. Sometimes I regret what I have said and other times not.
I don't actually get satisfaction by getting one up on anyone here. I want to see this treatment accepted by mainstream medicine for personal and professional reasons so a "result" for me will be when it is accepted, not because I will have been proven right, but because I will be able to enjoy my family, my son can live a life without stigma and my wife has her life back. And maybe along the way, enough people will take notice that others may be helped in a similar way.
Sorry, sorry, sorry if I offended anyone here. Don't take it personally, I DO have an agenda and I am sticking to it. I will try to be more diplomatic in the future.
And also, please remember:
Otter numbers in the UK have increased slightly in recent years but the Eurasian otter is still classed as “Vulnerable” in the Red Data List.
Through education, research, influencing policy and partner working the Interntational Otter Survival Fund is making progress but there is still much to be done here in the UK and other countries where otters are at risk.
Your support is greatly appreciated and the donations you make help secure a better future for otters in the UK and around the world.BACLOFENISTA

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"
