Good luck Cindi; I wish you all the best on your journey. Can't imagine how horrific that SE is, so more kudos to you for continuing.

            hey cinders,
have you talked to Dr. L about your sleep paralysis? or any other professional?
I was just thinking of you and doing some research on this condition and there are several techniques and/or antidepressants that are used to alleviate it. perhaps if it happens again you could be prepared? maybe the good doc already is aware of this condition?
I'm sure you've already thought of all this but if not why not contact Dr. L?
anyway, just thinking of you. grat.

              p.s.
one study I read detailed how BAC increases R.E.M. sleep which as you probably already know is where we dream. further, when you dream your body releases certain hormones which naturally paralyze you so body movements don't wake you up. sometimes there is a slight disconnect as you fall asleep or wake up between the body and the brain. this is where the techniques/antidepressants come in to regulate this disconnect. anyway, I get a little obsessive about learning everything I can to alleviate my fears. knowledge is power. grat.

No, Gratitude, I never have. I am one of those who thinks, "You have been given this and you must deal with it." It never occurred to me to ask Dr. Levin. Geez.

                Thank you for your post.

I will call or email him and ask him.

                  Another SE?

Does Baclofen hurt anyone else's tummy or is it just me?

I threw up last week several times and didn't make the connection.

Tonight, I took Baclofen and about 30 minutes later started throwing up.

I made the connection. Okay, dim bulb here.

Or am I just imagining that Baclofen hurts my stomach and it is probably other things?

                  Thanks!!

I never post in here because I know very little of Bac, but I just wanted to wish you strength Cinders, you have shown such great courage in never giving up on this battle.

Cindi, some people have reported that taking baclofen on a full stomach helps in this regard. I personally never noticed a difference, but maybe give that a try?

I definitely haven't come to a place where I'm comfortable with them, but when I get sleep paralysis now it isn't nearly as horrifying as the first few times. It's still pretty freaky for sure. But sometimes I even think "Oh great, here we go again" and find it pretty annoying.

I think baclofen may have caused me to have 3 or 4 episodes so far, in a year and a half.

Baclofen does cause acid indigestion and you will need to take an antacid for it. It is a well recognized side effect.

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

                            Hi Cindi!:l:h

You know, I have wanted to PM you because you are ALWAYS there for people who are struggling, succeeding, or being defeated and now it's our turn, and right this moment, MY turn, to thank you for all you do for us and wish you luck on the Bac journey.

Cindi, don't e-mail Dr. L. He won't get it. He told me that....he gets HUNDREDS of e-mails per day and they get filtered out and he never sees them. Call him at home between 7:00-9:00 p.m. Central Time. Then he will set up a telephone therapy session with him (45 minutes during his office hours, and it's unstructured....whatever YOU want to talk about....he listens, advises, and comforts)

Regarding the SE's....sorry, hun, I didn't experience those SEs....If you've just stopped drinking....maybe you're going through withdrawal. Bac has never upset my stomach....but then my highest mgs were 90.

I am praying, hoping, rooting for you, dear one....that this time you get relief from this bastard of a beast!:h

Cindi, I wanted to thank you also for posting the Gastric Bypass Surgery and Alcoholism link. One of my clients just had GPS and guess what....her drinking is now out of control. You offer so much wisdom to so many people here. God, I want Bac to be the answer for you.

                              What a kind post.

It is so welcome today. A very tough day.
