I'm sorry to make you unhappy. If you are taking action, which it seems you are, then you are doing what CF suggested and what indicated agreement with.

I wish you sobriety - as I wish for everyone here who seeks it!

        Great post CF!

Dixon, I'm using low dose baclofen and lithium orotate, more or less daily. I didn't take either one yesterday or the day before and really noticed my anxiety level increasing. They definitely take the edge off to help me have a choice. I'm taking 25mg/bac and 20-25mg LO. Sometimes I miss the LO, but if I miss both, I get worse cravings.

I never actually get rid of cravings. I try to change the thought in my head from "I would kill for a couple of glasses of wine" to "I'm really hungry and will feel much better once I eat" then focus on the food totally. So my plan is to eat before I get that hungry, and take another bac or xanax if the food alone doesn't do it. Eating regularly is really important, today I didn't eat dinner early enough and now I'm fighting the beast harder than usual.

        Best of luck to you!

Of course hunger is a part of craving ! I totally agree with you.I used to avoid snacks in the afternoon sometimes before fearing of low craving in the evening. We friends ususlly used to see in the evening in the same inn so its was wise to save craving . LOL
I think we need to stick in one medicine for craving and the other for depression if we have that ...
Anyway try not to drink again ! Waste of time, money, health, relationship etc.etc..Nothing good at all !

As far as I know, there have been no studies linking low-dose baclofen with abstinence. Many psychiatrists have used baclofen in low doses (up to 40mg/day) with little effect.

If you want to use baclofen to help with the cravings, by all means, do it. And use the rest of your tools to do the rest.

I have used the rest of the tools for 10 years.

Baclofen in high doses proposes to eliminate cravings.

I'll take that. And then the rest of the tools might have some effect, after all.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

There is a thread doing the rounds now, and another link to it in the consolidated thread, about a test done with 30mg's of baclofen and its effect on drinking. The test results were that baclofen was ineffective at low doses.

Saying that, I know of a couple of members whose names I can't remember, who found success immediately.

                  Hi Dixon

I tirated up slowly to apporx 120mg a day in the summer of09 it worked a treat he cravings disappered and all was well. So I slowly tirated down but I now realise I went down to low to 50mg a day I am a female about nine and a half stone. Things slowly strated to slip and I was soonback to where I was before baclofen. I am planning to start taking it again soon

For me baclofen as a maintaince dose is not effective below 75mg a day (3 x 25mg).
I am curious why you are not keen to take a higher dose ?

                    Thanks Bleep and Brave,
I am now on 25x2 mg ,1 dose 1 hour before leaving home and 1 dose before leaving job.Its really reducing craving .I am planning to take baclofen as per requirements when I am out of home.I usually do not drink at home so velnerable when outside home.Brave, I do not want to go up for high dose if it works at lower cause it is expensive as well as could be fatal to any of the organ like kidney, liver or heart. Just scared but no idea. Dixon

Dixon, the only thing I can suggest is that you read more of the threads on this board. They are full of information that address all of your concerns.

                      Good luck!

Yesterday I took 20mg before leaving job and felt no craving but drank forcibly. Today I took 25mg but not feeling any effect and the craving is like usual?
                          What a difference? Amazing. .

On 60 mg per day (20mg x 3 times per day) I was able to reduce cravings enough to stop drinking. On 80 mg per day - I lost total interest in alcohol. Prior to bac, my every thought while I was awake was about AL - and FTR - when I first started bac I knew nothing about it and didnt believe it would help... That was over a year ago.
                            Thanks Road to recovery ,
I also found working enough on 25 x3 mg per day . Now getting confidence as well. For me just to remember that it takes 3-4 hours to feel its effect.
Last time, I took before one hour I left the work and got drunkard on way to home and slept, now I realize that it takes time to come into effect and I must take before 3 hours.

My special thanks to Coalfire who inspired me to take Baclofen sending PM and telling to wait for 3-4 hours to feel its effects....Wonderful man you know my weakness and I love you !
My thanks to Rubby,Doggy,PostMan,Neva,Sheri,UK Blonde...and many of you who told me there is a way for cure------
Today I am extremely satisfied let us see for the future ,I will update !
