    is buying baclofen online illegal?

    I was gong to schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist here that prescribes baclofen for alcohol cravings/withdrawls but, their initial assessment is $500 and since I don't have insurance, I was wondering if I can order it online since it would cost much less overall.

    However, I was wondering could there be legal consequences for ordering it online if I was caught? I checked google and it's not a controlled substance but, it requires a prescription is there a place online that sells it that could do an evaluation and prescribe it over the phone? Also, I'm in the U.S. If I could get in trouble then I won't order it, since I've been enough trouble for other things in the past that I don't want go through that again.

    I can only talk about goldpharma.com. They have a series of questions which you have to answer before they will process your order. Since these are by default filled in to your advantage - "How is your current medical condition? - Excellent" (Ha ha!) they are obviously only there to cover their ass should things go dramatically wrong and someone decides to sue them.
    After payment, you get an email saying your order is awaiting approval from their physician. And two minutes later they inform you your order was approved. So in the end you do end up with a prescription, even if it's only an email.

    I've never heard of anyone getting into trouble ordering online. There's nothing illegal about it. The only thing that can go wrong is customs officials may, in their mysterious way, confiscate packages without so much as an explanation - never happened to me but I have heard it happen to people in Canada and Ireland (?correct me if I'm wrong...)

    Bottom line -- Don't worry about it, spend your money on baclofen itself and not on some medical knob's signature of approval. Above all, don't let niggling worries get in the way. THERE'S NOTHING ILLEGAL ABOUT IT.

      Hiya, UN1.
      I don't really know where it falls on the legality spectrum. Mostly because I can't for the life of me remember what Congress decided to do about those pesky internet pharmacies that are threatening the very existence of big pharma companies in the US... But I am about to digress.

      Bottom line? MANY of us on this forum have done it. I've done it even though I also have a legit US rx. (Before I had the rx, and since then so I have bac-ups for my bac-ups.)

      I've never heard of a customs hold-up in the US, though I've read about it happening in other countries.* I've NEVER heard of anyone getting in trouble for ordering it, even when customs held it. So as STP said, "don't worry about it." Really. Plenty of other stuff to worry about, it sounds like. This one doesn't even rank in the top ten. (Though I understand your concern!)

            Technically yes, but no. It is very safe and you will not get in trouble. The US Customs and Border Patrol issued a memo to the Department of Justice years ago saying they would not be seizing prescription drugs because 95% of them were for seniors and they thought it was stupid.

            I've searched and couldn't find the memo that I've read 5 freaking times but here are the main details:

              Bah-bing, LoOp. There's another thing to talk to the site administrators about - the search function on MWO. I seldom whine, but

              could it be improved?

              I would be dead without this site, so if it stays exactly as it is I'll just keep doing what I've started doing lately, which is to "Bookmark" all the pages that are extremely significant so I can at least find them on my own computer.

                If you can afford the $500, do it. You will be under a doctor's care and will most likely have a steady, uninterrupted flow of high quality bac. And the shrink in question has done this before, if it is the one whose name I gave you.

                If you have it, pay it..... this is not the thing to cut corners on, IMO.

                  Is buying baclofen online illegal? Don't know, but it is most definitely illegal to sell it to the pigs:

                  - A 34-year-old man was charged with trafficking in controlled substances after a police sting about 2:30 Friday in the 800 block of Mayport Road. A confidential informant told them the man was selling prescription drugs. An undercover officer arranged a buy of 13 pills of Hydrocodone and two pills of Baclofen and as the seller was about to provide the officer the pills in exchange for money, he was arrested.

                        Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12
