    How Bad Before Bac?

thanks for your input, kind folks.
baclofen is in the mail and i can't wait to get started. i really look forward to the hope in it. i want to be a better mom to my son. that's the driving force behind my decision to take this route. and i don't have a moral issue with taking medicine for my condition. i think i've been struggling with feeling like it's the easy way, and somehow that's never been okay with me. well, i'm feeling quite ready to trash that notion, to leave it behind with the booze. wish me luck. thanks for the hope i get from reading your posts. yes, a pint is more than a beer or two, and twenty years is a long time to be doing this horrible dance.

Tracy you are a deeply deeply unpleasant human being.

Rudy when it comes to alcohol cravings Baclofen simply takes them away.

Psychological cravings and living a life AF, well that's your own problem.

thanks all. longshot, the good news is that when i'm af i love my life. i'm positively POSITIVE. and i miss that. i'm currently in a long-running drinking cycle like never before. on a level i'm thinking there's a lifeline out there in teh form of bac and it's on its way so my current problem drinking doesn't terrify me like it has in the past. i'm so ready to be back on track, to be sober every day. i miss that. i miss the ordinary problems of life in their appropriate perspective...

            Hi Rudy,

Good luck in your upcoming Baclofen experience. You should be aware that some people actually increase their drinking when they start. It happened to me, and took me by surprise. "What's this?" I thought in dismay. This stuff is supposed to cure me, not make me worse! I think what happened was that I realised on some level that it was soon to be over, and was trying to make it last, or some such psychobabble!

Whatever it was caused by, it was a temporary effect, and I now drink next to nothing. I'm excited to go for a blood test in a few months, just to see the look on the doctors face when he sees the liver counts are all back to normal. I can imagine it's not something he sees all that often!

For me this was the easy way out. I'd much much rather take the easy way than the hard way. It makes no sense to me why anyone would choose differently. Some get horrible SE's, which makes it not so easy, but it's worth it in the end.
