    Planning to try TSM Naltrexone

Day 5, no dizziness today. The cider I'm drinking tastes great and I feel good.

    * 10:30 pm - my last drink was finished 9:30 pm for a total of 4 - I have 10 left in the fridge with no interest for another one.

Normally I would have at least 6 and try to push one last one down before bed. I have no off switch at home, this is interesting.

        Planning to try TSM Naltrexone

        week 2 - day 1

Well, the first week was pretty uneventful. My units are up , but that was because I chose to drink daily for the first week to get a good dose of Nal to experience any side effects early in the game.

The only really side effect I have is dizziness for the first hour or so.
I sleep well, no anxiety or nausea.
I always take food with Nal, maybe that's helped.

Drinking on it is okay, the only difference noticed is wine tastes a bit tinny.

Cravings are there, but once I take the Nal and wait my hour or so, when I do get that drink finally...it's no big deal. Tastes good, cold, refreshing, but the need to guzzle is just not there. I still carry on drinking , but something feels different. Hard to pinpoint.

This morning getting ready for work, I had a huge craving. This is not normal for me. I suspect my brain is pissed off that it's not had a decent "buzz" in a weeks time.

I took my Nal at 4 pm, it's now 6:30 and I haven't finished my first glass (5oz) of wine.

One step at a time, I have read a lot about extinction bursts. I know one day my brain will have a tantrum at not getting it's deserved "fix" and I will probably have bouts of bingeing. I know this can last for weeks and I know it most likely will happen more than once.
I will take my Nal and ride it out

          Planning to try TSM Naltrexone

Hi im takeing Baclofen so i havent got any cravings but i still like a drink.
After i have one drink i then want more So i take naltrexone one hour before i drink
The problem is by the time i have waited an hour i no longer want a drink, so i have wasted my time takeing the Nal.
You probebly thinking whats my problem, Thats a result. But its not for me because i only took it because i wanted a drink. so if i dont drink there is no point in takeing it.

          Strange thing me.

          Phil

Do you mean you want to keep drinking? I'm confused.

I also averaged 30-40 drinks per week before starting TSM. Naltrexone really changed things for me. I am now averaging 10-12 drinks per week. My goal is 3-5. I have been using the Nal for about 3 months. Some things that I have noticed
              - if I have more than 2 or 3 drinks in one evening I feel hungover (that used to take more than 6-7 drinks for me)
              - when I drink at home or with a meal I usually have only one with no cravings
              - I still seem to drink more than I want to in social situations but with no reward and feeling crappy the next morning.
              - I have some days now that I just don't even feel like drinking (never the case before unless I had drunk myself sick the night before)
I really see the Naltrexone at work and my brain is being rewired, I am learning to drink "normally". I highly urge you to read The Cure for Alcoholism book on TSM and follow the plan when using Naltrexone.

Hi Phil, good to see you are having success with baclofen. I think it's a great idea to use Nal as a back up plan in case you want to drink. If it stops the desire to drink, even better!

Would love to hear from you. Love and Sunshine Always. Kaza

You have just given one MASSIVE reason why Naltrexone is actually working for you. When you take Nal you know you have to wait at least 1 hour before you can drink. Most cravings pass in 40 minutes, so by the time you can drink your urge has disappeared. Nal is buying you time and I'd say that makes it definitely worth it.

Kaza - I have not had any weird dreams with Naltrexone. Maybe your sleeping/dreaming is changing since you are not going to sleep now with so much alcohol in your body? The only side effect that I had was a little upset stomach in the beginning.
Phil- Keep taking the Naltrexone BEFORE you think you might drink. I agree with UKBlond - the Naltrexone is working. Your craving may pass which is great but if it does not then you are covered with the Naltrexone in your system.
The #1 thing for me in this whole Sinclair Method is NEVER drink without first taking the Naltrexone. I really think if we stick to that the results will be there.

Has anyone using Naltrexone added Campral too? The Naltrexone is great most of the time when I have a drink or two - I usually don't want more. I was thinking that Campral might be a good addition to help with the cravings and with my mood. I think I have social anxiety and I find at parties I still drink more than I want to (I don't feel that good buzz anymore though I still seem to chase it by drinking). I think over time this will die out as TSM continues to work.
I'd love to hear if anyone has added Campral and if it has helped.

bad day... I have a new temporary roommate...(sis in law) she came to live with me suddenly and she bought a box of wine to celebrate....so, I decide to have one drink with her without taking Nal. She had two glasses and has gone to bed. I am on glass #5 and could continue on...but I won't.

Aw, Katie. Sudden move-ins aren't fun in any situation, are they? Good for you on stopping when you did. Maybe TSM is starting to work?
