Hang on and you will make it! Nothing is worse than being a drunk. That is how I classified myself and we can make it!

Good luck, Rudy!! I remember how exciting it was when I started my journey. And it has only gotten better and better!
I think you're on a good track with the supps and the running. I found that bac gave me motivation and energy to sort out everything else in my life (of course, not drinking to excess every night had a lot to do with that, but bac definitely sorted out a lot of things in my brain that had nothing to do with AL). So in addition to no longer being AL dependent, I've also been able to drop my food obsessions and have gotten into the best shape of my life (and am excited to see how much better I can become!). I think that having something to focus on, like being more healthy, can make the bac journey an easier one.
And while I wasn't working out during the worst of the SEs, I've heard that it can help mitigate them.
The advice that I would offer is to keep track of your dose! I'm just a little bit anal retentive/OCD-ish, so I've never dealt with this personally, but I've read PLENTY of other tales of those who have either forgotten doses or taken too MANY doses and how it can wreak havoc on you.
Looking forward to you sharing your story! :lBetter Living Through Chemistry

Hi Rudy
I would make a plan for your titration schedule. When you will up the dose and how much that will be by. You will also be able to see at which date you may need to order more baclofen. I know its been said many times but as you get to higher doses that big stash of pills disappears in no time.
I should also keep a diary, which could be here on a regular basis. I found that my log was very useful when I decided to find my maintenance dose.Started Baclofen 3/9/10 Hit my switch at 250mg on 21/11/10 Present maintenance dose of 50mg : started drinking after 1 year, upped dose to 80mg and stopped: Tapered to 30mg, started 6 months of drinking, upped dose to 240mg to stop 12/7/12

Rudy, I'm thrilled for you! Welcome to the beginning of what I hope is your new life. You may be a sober Mommy. You PM me anytime about the side effects. They are difficult for single moms sometimes, but so worth it if you can get through. I am cheering for you. This Princess Saved Herself

Great news Rudy!
I agree with what other posters have said regarding a plan for your titration. It will give you something to follow, which makes it much easier once it gets complicated at the higher doses. Keeping a journal helps, here if possible, so we can help where we can.
Best of luck Rudy!

Yep. What they said, Rudy. (still want to call you Ruby. I have an image associated with your name at this point of the gem itself!)
The plan. I would think about the what ifs, but not too much!
Mostly, though, you could have a plan as to how much to take, and when. 5mg for x days, adding xmgs (20?) every xx days (7?). (or 10mg every 3 days, or some variation of that! It's not a one size fits all, for sure.)
I HIGHLY recommend pill boxes. Get in the habit now, so it'll come naturally later. Ig used plastic baggies to sort it out. I did that too when the amount I took became too big for even the old-people-pill-sorters. (don't worry. You won't have to do that. :H Unless you do. It was worth it, for me! But you won't.)
Again, I figure you'll want to figure out when, how much and at what times. And then plan to adjust it. (but not too drastically!) You've got the single most important part of the plan, though. Eyes on the goal. Sobriety.
Glad your mom is coming. Support in this, as in all life-changing things, is a very beneficial component for success.
Hugs and love, RudyB. Welcome to the ride!

hey y'all!
thanks never eva, ig, redhead, isolde. love your thougtful replies.
i started 2 days ago w one 5 mg in the eve, next day four 5 mg spread out, today midday i have taken 5 mg twice. i'm a little scared cause people are saying 5 mg to start. i sure hope that means a few times a day.... i think that's what i've read others do. if the suggestions were meant as 5 mg once a day, i've gone and overdosed! that said, i feel great! ...in spite of having stayed up till WAYYY past my bedtime, and having drunk tons of booze. so, if i've overdosed i guess it's okay as i feel just dandy. only se i've detected so far was on the mornin after my first dose, when i had a funny vision thing: squiggly blind-spot snakes, but nothing unbearable.
wish me luck, and tell me if you think i'm taking too much, please! fortunately, i have a phone consult w dr L in three days.
xxoo rudy (OR ruby, ne, which suits me fine. wink.)

Hey Rudy, 20mgs in one day at the beginning is just fine, especially since you're also spacing it out. So no worries there. Glad you're feeling good!!Better Living Through Chemistry
