    just got my own bac!

hey thanks, dg! and i don't know who sam hill is either, and i don't know how i got my broccoli this way. it's a total surprise. i, too, have always had spindly, quick-flowering broc. it may have something to do w the soil in my garden being so rich. i've got years of hay and goat poop on it, and i've mulched really well. i started the broc from seedlings, not seeds, so that helped, too.

good for you for gardening. it's the perfect thing to do to celebrate being sober, isn't it? weeding out the unwanteds, cultivating and nourishing the wished-for. sublime.

this morning i told manic dude that he could use eating as a daily way to calm himself down. he could sit quietly for a moment before taking the first bite, and consciously eat slowly and thoughtfully. it would be grounding, and he would eat less (i still can't get over that loaf of bread!). he asked if there was anything else, quite interested in my input. i told him not to leave his shoes in the pathways.

when he pedaled away, he thanked me for the sage advice, and said it gave him lots to think about. we hugged and he didn't try to kiss.

I think you may need to air the spare bedroom after fart-bloke's stay. He sounds dreamy. lol

I've ordered that book you keep banging on about so much. Sadly not available on Kindle so I'll have to wait for paper version to arrive.

And you're right, the belt loop does look like a turd :H. I shall have to find something else.

DG - How dare you forget about me when "big" pops into your mind. All the way to Japan...Think about it.

Rudy - wowzers, you have a lot of patience. I realize that I too, like you, am now incredibly awesome, yet I feel like taking on a lost cause would break me at this point. I need more time before I can change the world. And grow awesome broc. Pics or it didn't happen!

ah yes, thank you for reminding me. today i will photograph that broc and figure out how to post it here, just as a preview to showing you the whole garden.

at some point dookie said, 'i think it's so cool that we're kinda at the same place in our personal growth'. i didn't know quite how to resond. i paused, and then said, 'yeah, we're roughly the same age'.

I think you were asking about this, Rudy...you know how much I love this stuff. This is straight from The Handbook. There's more, but here are the mechanics for most situations:

              Punctuation with quotation marks (QMs):
              • Periods and commas go INSIDE QMs
              • Colons and semicolons go OUTSIDE QMsThe ? and ! are placed logically according to the situation (i.e. dependent upon whether the introduction to the quotation OR the quoted matter itself is in the form of a ? or !).

thanks mom, but i think it was bleep or beatle who helped me with this long ago. perhaps their instruction didn't stick, and i've made a mistake?

                    just got my own bac!

today's quotes from 'healing without...': 'we cannot be happy, we cannot release the instinct to heal the core of our being, without finding meaning in our connection to the world around us - that is, in waht we bring to others.' and: 'adults need to feel less alone when they suffer.' and: 'when we sense in a visceral way - emotionally - our connection to those around us, our physiology automatically achieves coherence. at the same time, when we help our physiology bring about coherence, we open the door to new ways of taking in the world around us.'

that last sentence reminds me of what pete was saying, about how without booze, you're starting to feel connected to people unlike ever before.

so, i was thinking it would be fun to have a discussion thread on this book, something very loosey-goosey that would give us all a chance to elaborate on what we find therein. and there will be plenty to relate about! several of you have mentioned that you'll be getting the book (mom, bruun, murph, pete), and maybe others will join the list so we can get it going. order that book, folks, and let's get this party started! (is my enthusiasm contagious, or just annoying?)

omg! can't believe i haven't reported this detail yet: dookie came into the kitchen this morning in his mankini! he really did!!! it was one with shorts, so it didn't have quite the same staggering effect as the bikini design. (murph and loOp and turboscott and petey, y'all would've been tickled!) but to make up for that, he had tight little black shoes on with plastic bumpers to clip into his pedals. flashed into mind: he's got some kinky ideas of how to have fun!... put on really tight, constricting and impermeable clothes, clamp feetsies into torture chambers with heels, put big fat bum on a skinny gushy seat, buckle feet in, and go riding up a mile long hill steep as the leg to a water-tower.

OMG Shutterfly is evil! I just spent 20 mins trying to figure it out, and it looks like they won't even let me save the pics!

2 options Rudy. You can either just link to Shutterfly for those 2 photos of delicious broccoli, or send me the pics, and I'll figure out a way to do it, that doesn't involve a terrible company. That was my first experience in dealing with SF, and I don't ever wanna go back to that site again.
