L-Glutamine
Hey Nelz,
I was hoping another would respond to this. I'm not a L glut taker. I've tried numerous times, and it doesn't seem to work for me. That's not to say, it doesn't work for many, if not most alcoholics. It helps to control blood sugar. That seems to be a problem for many. It also helps to heal the intestines.
There is a great place to bring this question. The holistic health section. I'm sure you will have numerous responses there. Not to say, we don't want to see it here. We love to have new posters in the meds section, but the holistic health will serve you better. I mean for this specific question. This Princess Saved Herself

L-Glutamine
Hi Nelz. I know RedThread (I hope that's right) has a lot of great info about L-Glut and Red is right - lots in the Holistic section. You might want to do a search.
I took L-Glut early in my sobriety along with all the other MWO supplements. Recently, I let sugar back into my life (HUGE mistake) and started to take L-Glut again to combat that. A couple things I'm finding for myeself anyway:
* Powder form seems to be more effective for me than capsules.
* I need to take a LOT of it. (grams - not milligrams)
I just switched brands and went to powder recently. It seems to be helping but I will be able to report more with a bit more time.
There are plenty of other people who can give way more info than me!! Determinator is another one who swears by L-Glut if you want to hunt him down.

L-Glutamine
Several years ago I tried using L-Glut but it is not for people who take anti-depressants, which I do. It made me very, very sleepy and uncomfortable. That's my take on L-Glut. And I agree with DG....Determinator is the one to talk to about L-Glut because he knows quite a lot about it.Noelle sez "Do want you like, like what you do. Life is Good."

Switched at 180mgs of Baclofen on 1/31/11, and again on 10/8/11 at 200mgs.

L-Glutamine
I had some weird experiences with L-Glut, but I can't really say it was L-Glut related. I felt dizzy, light headed, nauseous, and had some pretty strange mental impairment, but it seems more likely to be related to diet, drinking, and baclofen. I've been off the sauce for a few days, so I'll probably hit up the L-Glut again and see if my problems recur.
