    Need help with Baclofen

    Hiya, Bri!

All good. I can't imagine what you're keyboard looks like. ew. I always found that I could type more effectively if I didn't have to have a drink in each hand at the same time. Sometimes it was okay to put one down for a minute at a time, and type REALLY quickly. Maybe that explains why I can type at the speed of sound? It wasn't actually the 8th grade typing class with the tyrannical teacher! It was that it got in the way of drinking double-fisted! Who knew?

Anyhoo. all good. I hope you're eating, because in general we're going to have to agree to disagree on that. Though I agree with your skepticism re. official food recommendations. Food is good, though.

Keep up the good work, and let us know how it goes, gonnabe.

      Need help with Baclofen

      Hi Ne,

      Thanks!
Well. This week turned out pretty bad, as well.
Te devil took over my brain from Wednesday and pretty much went downhill after that.
I think last night I almost died. I woke up around 1 AM this morning because my blood pressure was @ 210 / 110 and I was feeling the blood pressure going up as I felt some
noise in my ears. I got really scarred. I think it was a near death experience.
I really need to quit now. I hope I can be AL free before something bad happens.
I had a few beers today, but not too much. Tomorrow I will not drink. But then again my wife laughs at me when I say that. I told it to her at least 500 times. And we are together only for 2 years. She is totally abstinent. You can imagine how happy she is when she sees me passed out 3-4 times a week. Well, I am not really happy in this marriage anyway so it will probably end soon.
I hope Bac will help me. So far I do net feel that I have any of the side-effect yet.
      Will see....

      Cheers,

      Brian

Question for the experienced members about SE,

I think I am joining to the SE Club.
I was just wondering if anybody experienced anything similar that I will describe.
It might not be Bac related, but I hope it is. Let me explain in a minute why.
After being a "good boy" for about a week last week I really messed it up. I was drinking for five days and Saturday was the worst. I have very little recollection what went on last week. Saturday I felt like I was dying. My blood pressure was really high and I thought I will expire. Sunday I have managed to drink only 10 beers, so Monday I was OK and I am AL free during the last three days.
Let me try to describe what I feel sometimes, as I do not know the medical term for it, but
probably there is one. I will call it "windy head" for now.
I would say when you stand on a bridge and the wind blows very hard, you can hear the wind in your ears (as the pressure goes up and down). Now this is what I hear in both of my ears, except no wind outside, only maybe pressure inside my head. When I hear this it maybe lasts 1 to 4 seconds and then it goes away. It also feels like you are hearing an earthquake.
My blood pressure was really high Saturday and Sunday (@ 220/110) but now it is only 150 or160 over 80 which is manageable. I have experienced this before, but never this much as during the last couple of days. Today I experienced this even at work and I felt really crappy during all day.
I just increased my Bac intake to 80 mg Yesterday so that is why I am hoping it is Bac related. If not than maybe I just managed to mess up my body with the alcohol, after all.
I also have to say that during the past 3 days I took every imaginable pills to lower my blood pressure, as I was afraid of getting a stroke.
I took: Potassium, Magnesium, Beet Root and also Liver detoxifier and Milk Thistle.
So maybe it is just an interaction with other pills.
You see, I either try to drink myself to death, or repair myself to death. Sounds like a bipolar behavior, isn't it?
Anyway, if any of you ever experienced a "windy head" or "earthquake" in your head, please let me know. I'd appreciate it!

        Cheers,

        Brian

            PermaYawn

That's what I call xthat rushing sound in my ears-permayawn.

            As in, permanent-yawn.

It's like when you're starting to yawn, and your ears get that blood sound, something rushing through. I get that all day, all night, every few seconds.

            It's the bac.

I'm at 2xx mg/day now, have been so close to the switch (I think), but damn, the SE's!!

Good luck to you-my keyboard is acting up, so I'm going to sign off...

                Want,

I called them brain zaps. Went from ear to ear but not out of your head. I worry about the blood pressure though. I personally do not think Bac is the cause but may aggravate.
Please research Potassium Gluconate and L- Arginine. I got it from someone at MWO, I am sure, but please research it.

Glad you are here and moving forward!
Will continue to follow your progress.

                  Hi Brian,

Yes, that's a definite SE of baclofen. I get funny skype type pings in my ears! You'll get used to it, I promise.

The blood pressure can be a cause for concern, you'll want to keep an eye on it as you titrate up. It may just be lifestyle, in which case you are doing the right thing!

                    Need help with Baclofen

Hi Sassy, Ig, Lady and Bleep,

Thanks for all of you to stop by!
I appreciate your information. I was really worrying that I was getting a stroke, but now I am relieved that it is only a side effect that can be expected.

Lady, Thanks for the tips about Potassium Gluconate and L- Arginine.
                    I am already taking PG.

Blood pressure is only a concern for me after heavy drinking for days.
When I do that, my BP spikes to above 200. I am pretty sure we've all been there,
just most of the people don't know about it. Because they don't measure their BP.
On days that I do not drink, my BP is fine. So I am kind of on the right track just like you said Bleep. (If Tinnitus let me go on this course).
My Tinnitus is pretty annoying right now. As I said it is not just ringing type. It is a feeling that an Earthquake is coming!
Which is highly unlikely since I am in Florida.

                    Cheers,

                    Brian

Do you still get brain zaps, or is it something that will disappear later?
My Tinnitus is bearable now but I ave big problems with sleepiness.
Yesterday I almost fell off my chair at work. It was really really bad.
I hope this is only temporary inconvenience.

                      cheers,

Hey want2besober! Your thread is where my girlfriend found out about baclofen. I guess I didn't see your thread since there weren't many posts the last few days on it? I want to thank you because things you wrote caused my girlfriend to find you in the search engines. I think you had a passed out singing guy for the avatar when she showed me the posts.

I too have extremely high blood pressure and I am a skinny white guy of 28 years. I have gotten seizures , etc from it which was most likely related to alcohol withdrawal but even in times of abstinence I have VERY high blood pressure. Let me know if the Bac causes it to go higher please. I heard someone say it can cause that and you need to get on a blood pressure med at the same time if your prone to this stuff.

I guess it is dangerous this high blood pressure thing. Doctors and nurses always mention it but I ignore it.. Do you get those huge throbbing veins in your skull that pop out also along with the headaches when you get 190/100+ readings?

Anyways I wanted to at least reply and thank you again for fate or whatever that caused us to find this site in the search due to your thread!

The somnolence is a pain in the foot. It varied for me. Employ LOTS of caffeine, or something...

I only got tinnitus occasionally. Isolde had it bad, I'll ask her what she did...

                          Sorry for the hijack, Brian!

Bac and high blood pressure can be a no-no. Do you have a doc?

No not right now. I work from home and have no insurance. I am working with Dr.L though but don't feel like bothering him right now. I was on Atenelol(spelling?) before but haven't kept it up lately. I don't feel like I have crazy high BP right now. I can tell when it gets high due to the bulging veins in the head and headaches but us high BP guys should probably chart our stats for that too. Was more concerned with gonnabe having high BP since he talked of 220+ and I did hear as you said that Bac and high BP can be bad.

I guess we should start doing daily BP readings with a home kit just in case.

                            Thanks for the concern NE!

                                Hi BacloTim,

                                :welcome:

I am very glad that you have found this website and I am very happy that it was my thread that helped you find it!

My blood pressure is OK if I do not drink. I only get high BP if I drink 4-5 days in a row and get wasted. Yes the passed out guy was my avatar pic, but I changed it because I thought I could stop drinking at one point. However my current avatar pic is only something I can look forward to and hopefully in a not too distant future.
I do not have any headaches (except hangover types) or throbbing veins at all.
I do not know if Baclofen can increase your BP or not.
If you have high PB even if you do not drink, maybe you need to make some changes in your diet. You can control your PB with your diet alone. I would not take any medicine for that.
The medicine that Doctors prescribe you, can make you only sicker.
Keep me informed about your progress.
I will check your thread, as well.
I see you do not have too much of the SE yet.
I see you are drinking about 300 ml alcohol / day. That is a lot. I do similar amount.
Let's hope Bac will change everything soon for us!

                                cheers,

                                Brian
