    Sleep Apnoea ~ HELP!

Yeah, I agree with Beatle; Americans suck arse!

Actually, I think Rudy might be sleeping so we should all keep our voices down.

Rudy, I do hope you are sleeping. Really hope. (I wish I was sleeping, that's for sure.)

I am really curious if my (and Bleep's) experiences relate at all to yours. Maybe we have different ways of experiencing or expressing them? Or maybe they are completely different, after all. I wish more people with this SE would post here.

        Sleep Apnoea ~ HELP!

awesome, thanks all so much. sheesh. i'm gonna take ne's advice and stream of consciousness -not self consciousnesss- cause i gotta fly and the thousand times i woke up last nite i was composing to all of my beloveds here on mwo. much in my head...

i think red was just saying 'here' as in where she is. she's smart enough not to think us is center of the world. people in the us (not the only 'americans'!!!) do tend to be egocentric/ethnocntric, but not all of us!!! i talk to my 14 yr olds about it all the time. tehy squirm but need to hear it.

anywhioo, i've read the apnea (friggin o takes too muych time.; typing impossible at the mo) can happen as much or more than 30 x an hr. that was me from 1amish for prob 2 hrs. then i think i relaxed into taht trippy fucked state and maybe my throat loosend and i got some sleep. but each time i woke (less oft as time went on), i went back into that process to get back to sleep. less scary as i'm getting used to it.

my son had a fever of 103 to boot, so i would've felt alone and scared to hell and back exxcept for tylenol for him and you guys for me. your words (IG! NE!) kept replaying in my head like mantras and so i didn't tremble in fear. they helped me relax and accept and fall asleep.

thanks to all others your input is generous and it's SOOOOO good to know this is not unique to me. i especially like the affirmation that it's good i post this stuff. i know it's detalied and all that but that is what this place is for. nobody HAS to read it. and i sure as feck would like to have had this to read two nights ago.

gotta fly. on about 3.5 hrs today. still feels bootloads better tahn being hungover. OH MY GOD! i feel better. miraculous.

i'll be taking notes all day of things i want to tell you. love you guys and gals!

so, i'm home for the day. state test coming up but i can't leave my sick son alone! love that monster union for protecting my playing hookie. :goodjob:

beatle, your symptoms are not the same but i bet they are related, and they're definitely relevant! i'm relieved to know that there are varieties of torture with this bac, that i'm not crazy or an anamoly (anomaly?). a few times in my tortured state i wondered if i'm nuts for taking high doses of bac, but waking up feeling so much better lately from not drinking makes me think not. and i'm loving hearing that this, too, will subside.

oh, guess i'd better go take those pills.... and son's awake so i'll boogie but i'll be back.

Many countries in Europe go by the British way of spelling. Some countries in Asia, as well. I don't like confrontation on the threads, but I do feel a compulsion to point out ethnocentricity.

              from Wiki:

Sleep apnea (or sleep apnoea in British English; English pronunciation: /?pˈniːə/) is a sleep disorder characterized by abnormal pauses in breathing or instances of abnormally low breathing, during sleep.

EDIT: Red, sorry about the aggressive tone of this post. I know you didn't mean it that way. I just reacted to your wording... which seemed to reflect an attitude prevalent among Americans. I'm sure you don't feel that way.

Here's the deal. She lives here. I don't care if you spell it incorrectly Murph. I believe I said that earlier. :H If one wrote apnoea in a medical chart for example, we would assume they couldn't spell. I only said it to be an asshole American. I do it very well, when I decide to. :goodjob:

Rudy, I'm glad you're home. I hope you are getting some sleep finally. I'm sure your son might be up at this point. Which will make getting sleep, even more difficult. Thinking of you...

                Red, :H

But to set the record straight, I don't live in the U.S. and haven't since I got married back in 1990. (I just visit the U.S. sometimes.) And we do in fact spell it the British way where I live in Europe, as do many other European countries. But I think most Europeans would not assume the Americans can't spell if we read "apnea". We would just assume they write it a different way.

You are not one of those American arses and you know it. But there are an awful lot of them, you have to admit. :moon:, present company (MWO) excepted.

                  Sorry about that Rudy.

I'm also wondering if I am experiencing sleep apnoea without knowing it. I wake up every 2 hours throughout the night. Almost exactly 2 hours. Didn't I hear that mentioned as associated with sleep apnoea? Do you think it's possible to experience it and not experience it, iykwim?

Beatle, I was waking up every 2 hours throughout my titration. It was the weirdest thing, no matter how tired I was or whatever time I went to bed I’d be awake after 2 hours and then 2 hours after that and again. I have no idea why it’s every 2, it’s very odd, but it’s nothing to do with apnoea. With apnoea you stop breathing many times each hour and usually you don’t even wake up, at least not fully. Quite often people just die without ever waking up. Tee hee hee, just kidding Rudy. That hardly ever happens, well not to men anyway.

I woke up every two hours like clockwork too. I would wake up for two hours, go back to sleep for a hour, repeat. ALL night long.

                        Sleep Apnoea ~ HELP!

I have obstructive sleep apnea due to being overweight, but bac didn't affect it significantly. I normally sleep on my side. I did wake up VERY frequently once I stopped drinking. I think bac may cause generalized sleep disturbances that alcohol masks by keeping us asleep.

I don't mean to imply that your symptoms aren't real, Rudy, but is it possible that you're just waking up to general bac-ness and maybe attributing it to apnea? Also, I woke up really often because I was drinking so much water and had to pee constantly. I was drinking water so much because bac makes me feel constantly thirsty and dry, so my sinuses get all dry and inflamed. A humidifier might help you.

                          oh my goodness!!!
EVERY TWO HOURS for me, too. Weird.

I don't care how you spell it, it sucks. But people don't die from it. They just have to buy very expensive machines that line the pockets of our pharmaceutical companies. I'm kidding about that. If I could get Ed to stop snoring (he's definitely got breathing things going on with the bac, he's just sleeping through them...the rest of us are not, however :upset I would get him one of those machines. But I think it'll go away with the next step. I hope.

He was annoyed with me when I woke up at 2am! Little did he know I could hear him snoring from 4 rooms away! sheesh.

Alright. Poor Rudy isn't even home yet. Hi Rudy! :welcome: home!

                            Sleep Apnoea ~ HELP!

been home all day, ne. i see you're behind on your reading.

beatle, i bet it is possible to have apneyah without even knowing it. in fact, thaty'll be my new pet theory, though i don't want to get into it cause my very own experience is so engrossing me. what will i do when this se abates??!! go back to grinning i suppose.

mog-didileelicious ('scuse me, high on bac), it's def apnea no question. my throat closes, or, sometimes my brain stopps telling me to breathe (or how to spell). after much 3 am research, i have figured it all out. it's becoming less scary, though it's no fun. sometimes i feel my throat being closed, which i think is prob from the muscle relaxing props of bac. sometimes it's as if i can feel my brain has shut down. i wake up, realize i'm not breathing, begin to breathe. it's as if in slow motion, too. wild. and i have a spinning thrummy feeling in my head, starting on the sides and working its way to the top usually, and lately, when i open my eyes after this, i see large spots of red! i really do! before it was more often flashes of white. somehow the red is much more scary than the white flashes of light. as i'm getting used to this, though, my courage is building, and i've decided to make these colors my friends. maybe they have something to teach me. maybe they are angels.

this afternoon, after much less time (twenty minutes?) not breathing/wkg up/not breathing/wkg up, i actually slept deeply for probably an hour straight! wee haw! i think that probably has to do with my being more relaxed about the whole thing, and being deeply exhausted, but also maybe it's going away...! later i'll tell you about the dream i had, maybe on my own thread so i don't hijack the apnea topic. mwo represented! (is there someone named amy here? you were in the dream, if so. as was triptonic.)

ok, my video addictect son wants the computer now. and i feel too zippety doo daa stoned on bac to fight about it or to continue here. typing is hard. but i'm not complaining! (red, would you believe that sometimes i plug my son into a movie so that i can sleep?! crime of the century. ha ha! but at least i don't put vodka in his juice to make him sleep. um, yeah, and when i do plug him into the movie, it's as if i have apnea, cause he wakes me up constantly.)

                            love you all.

Wow about the 2-hour thing. I had no idea that others had the same thing.

I guess it is a phase-- although it went on for at least 2 months for me, maybe more. I wish I had kept track of that -- I began keeping track of when and how much I sleep about 2 weeks ago. The 2-hour thing had just about vanished by then. Or, should I say it became more irregular. Sometimes 3-hour stretches, sometimes 1 hour. And a couple times 5 hours (ahh, to be savoured, for sure). But the 2-hour thing was baffling. Pretty much to the minute.

Yep, beatle, same here. I'm at the 1-3 hour stretches currently. Rudy, are you taking any L-Glut? I found it contributed quite significantly to the "stoned" feeling I got from bac as well as the "fluttery" feeling you described.
