    Sleep Apnoea ~ HELP!

oh. l-glut. i think i'm supposed to take that on an empty stomach, right? i never think of it when it's empty. do you mean it made you feel more stoned? cause i don't mind it at all, though it's not helpful at work! could do without the flutters. will take some now.

am fully wiped and off to bed after a few indulgent minutes here. third day sober. feels so good! i am 100 x more productive, and more present for my son. at last. may it last. i am hopeful that it will.

wish me luck. am not going to worry that my cig smoking today will make my sleep horrible; worry doesn't help. but i am going to cut back as much as i can stand. and will be gettign some snus tomorrow to help with that. i hereby let go of fear and prepare for bed.

sweet dreams to all. sleep loose.

      Sleep Apnoea ~ HELP!

so maybe this apnea thing is a hazing process of sorts.

bac to that in a sec. i had it only two or three times last night! long stretches of sleep. i feel tired but so relieved. so very very relieved.

after stalling to get my butt into bed cause i was trepidatious to say the least, i finally did at 9:15, which is late for me on a good night. wow, maybe now that i'm not drinking i can go to bed at 9:15 all the time w no harm. it's a lot different to wake up having had no drinky drink. i had forgotten about this. my body is going to be so happy! as is my soul.

after what feels like hazing to me, that apnea, i would never want to go through it again. i said that about many of my 'bottoms' (driving drunk; breaking a favorite dish; being drunk and scaring off a good man; etc), but this one feels different. and it happend while sober, so it is. time is short here. you get the idea.

last night when i woke from apnea (sort of woke), just when i started to breathe it was in my mind (dream or awake, i dunno) that you were around me, talking about me. "she's on her back!" so i turned onto my side. when it happened next, "shh, she's asleep." and you talked quietly among yourselves while i drifted back to sleep without incident.

so thanks for being there for me.

          Sleep Apnoea ~ HELP!

Before I became a mean drunk I was into all sorts of weird new-age shit and generally odd stuff. I hadn't tried astral projection but now you mention it, I think I might give it a go.

Good to know about the declining apnoea Rudy. :goodjob:

Very good to hear Rudy. Maybe it just took your body a while to get used to this dose. Have a good day at work.

Maybe you were stoned! ;-) I said try STOPPING the L-Glut if you have been taking it. It caused those "flutters" and bloating and very strange mental fogginess for me.

Am I right in saying that other than apnoea, most of your SE's are pretty cool? I loved the stoned feeling.

Not sure if it's still relevant, but I found it to be very level dependent, as with all things baclofen. Taking more doesn't, for some very strange reason, make it worse. Often it removes a particular SE altogether. Makes no sense to me, but seems to be very true.

I also found researching the particular SE's to be useless. By the time I had found out about them, they had gone. Also, the cures and recommendations were useless, seeing as the causes were different. In my case, baclofen caused everything, and most cures looked at addressing the cause.

I still get the two hour sleep thing. Starting to get a little annoying. Even prescription sleeping tablets do not over-ride it.

Bleep, you seem to switch quite happily between British and American English. How much has Zimbabwean English changed from BE since the divorce?

Murph it's mostly because I didn't know it was spelled to start with, so I have no allegiance one way or the other. In case your query was sincerely meant, Zim uses BE all the way.

Rudy, I posted the post above this without having read your thread first, so I apologise about the SE comment!

Sorry for the threadjack Rudy but I find this interesting.

Bleep, I would have thought that since there are no longer the political and cultural ties between the 2 countries (especially since Zim became so utterly crap at cricket :H) that ZE would have started to develop it's own identity, probably including more of the Bantu languages and influence from SA.

ZE is considered a language in its own right isn't it? Even before independence, Rhodesian English was a variant of BE.

Hmmm, not really. Now that you've made me think about it, there are very few specific words that have crept into the language. Offhand, I can only think of a couple. Mushe, rhyming with pushy, to mean good, for example. A couple of others. Certainly no unique spelling, and I don't think I have ever seen any of the words used in print, only in conversation. I doubt there are enough distinct differences to class it as a different variant.

Strangely Bob, despite never missing an opportunity to swear the British out, is an Anglophile of the first degree. He rides to parliament in a Rolls, has the hanky sticking out the pocket, the whole deal, so the culture is not as separate as you may first think.

And you're very right about the cricket. The most disappointing team in the world to follow.

Just to continue the hijack a little...

Lol about Bob. He's a funny one that fella. Still, he does have some good reasons for his views about the Brits.

Anyhoo, enough of this threadjack. Back to you Rudy and your bedroom antics. I mean...well you know what I mean...

i don't mind the hijack at all. all things language (including spelling and grammar and punctuation and where words come from and) are favorite subjects of mine.

bleep, your post was fine, no need to apologize. still relevant. i'm happy to report that the apnea was gone last night again (did i report that already today?). i had a delicious night's sleep. but i woke at 4 am and couldn't get back to sleep. seems pretty common around here. so i plugged my son into the netflix world and got some z's from 7 to 10 (!). that's the latest i've slept in a lllong time, and it's totally justified.

sweet dreams all. i'm off to bed soon as my eyes are rolling around in my head, going crosswise and all.

i just wanted to bump it up and say goodbye to this narrative, for i seem to have moved on from this horrid beast of an se. i'm hoping that this thread might be useful to others, that they will find it and benefit from knowing that they won't die, and that Apnea is temporary when it comes to bac.

if it happens again, i'll be bac here just to report. and if any lurkers are out there having similar experiences, please remember that it could really help someone if you chime in.

i hereby bequeath this thread to any apnea victim who needs a place to go at 3, 4, 5 am...
