    TimberTim is in the House!

    Hey all,

NE conviced me to sign up, so here I am.

I have been on Bac since March 8, 2011 and have not SWITCHED yet. I am at 240mg per day and to tell you the truth, it is a struggle. It's hard to take that much during the day, but I do it anyway. I have many of the side effects that you all have: insomnia, confusion/forgetfulness, etc.

I have been posting on the Baclofen Forum for the past 3 months.

You may discover that I have a dry and goofy sense of humor, but I am also pretty direct. I have some crazy ideas when I am up at 4am.

Look forward to meeting you all. :new:

    You have some cool emoticons!

Yeah, we do have some cool emoticons:baaah:

Warning: It is pretty fast-paced around here, and can be hard to keep up. :eeks:

    AND addictive.

      Hiya, Tim!
Welcome to my home away from home.

There are some VERY cool emoticons 'round here. People are reluctant to use them, sometimes. It baffles the mind.

Glad you decided to pop in!

ha! I was just thinking that it's NEVER been so quiet around here. I think that would indicate which of us is busy, and which has too much time on her hands! :H

Haven't you ever heard the expression: "If you want a job done, ask a busy person"?

                    Hi Tim

I joined the baclofen forum and looked around. It seemed very quiet so I didn't post because I didn't want to wake anyone up, but I saw some of your posts over there. Can I ask what your situation is? Where is your supply coming from? Are you under the supervision of a doc or going it solo? What has your titration schedule been and are you still pushing on up?

Anyhoo, welcome and when you get a chance, check out the emoticons more thoroughly and you'll find some quite strange ones like

                    Cheers

                        Hey Murph,

Since you asked: I am under the care of a physician. But as many of us have experienced, it is me that is taking him to school on the baclofen protocol. I even bought him the book! Regardless, I am still titrating up; starting at 15mg per day three months ago and currently at 240mg per day. Seems like it has been alot longer than that.

My sources are two: my insurance does pay for part of the baclofen, but in their infinite wisdom they will only pay for 80mg/day dosage. My doctor has me at 200mg/day Rx, but I have to pay cash for that. Also, I have purchased bac on the internet from both River Pharmacy and InHousePharmacy. Both worked fine, but InHouse is a better deal. I currently get 20mg pills from my doc and 10mg pills from online. This give me a bit of flexibilty in my dosage without having to cut pills in half.

My titration schedule has been a steep one, I think. Initially, I was going up 20mg every three days, but have backed off to 20mg per week. I still have some not very pleasant SE's, but that's the way it goes when I am on a mission to indifference.

I should imagine "confusion and forgetfulness" are 2 side effects you, and those around you, could do without if your job involves axes, chainsaws and the like.

You probably can't be far from the switch now, so have you considered taking a couple of weeks off work (and away from sharp objects) and really pushing the envelope? Maybe a 50 increase for 3 days and then another 50.

Obviously I know very little about your circumstances and the suggestion might be entirely ridiculous and impossible, but I'm guessing that you've had the forgetfulness, confusion and tiredness for some time and continued small increases are just going to make them worse.

Hiya, Tim. Meet Murph. He and I disagree on most everything, at least superficially. Not much we disagree on when it counts, I don't think. Anyway:

um. Hold on to those horses, there partner (Murphy)

Tim, it seems like you are doing just fine, right?

Not taken an axe to anyone yet, have you?

ftr, my husband, on bac, works closely, very closely, with very sharp knives. He hasn't cut anything off yet.

I imagine you ARE pretty close to the switch. WOOOHOOOO! and YAY! But I get ahead of myself... Still. I'm excited for you. And really, really amazed at how you've done and handled the whole process. And the doctor thing? That's a good story. Very impressive actually and one I've shared with people privately.

Anyone wants to read it, they can check out the baclofen forum. Tim has chronicled his journey very succinctly. (nice job, btw.)

                              Murph,

Yeah, I'm going to stick to my 20mg/week increase. I would have to take a couple of weeks off if I went up 50mg. But, I did consider it. My staff is used to me wondering around the office in a daze, not completing my sentences and talking at a much slower pace than usual. So, your suggestion has some merrit. I may consider a compromise of something in between. My biggest problem is the sleep thing, or lack of sleep thing. I just took a 1 hour nap and it was excellent! But at night I seem to have a series of 1 hour naps interspersed with 1 hour awake.

For the record; I have axes and chainsaws, but most of the time I tell others with axes and chainsaws where and what to use them on. It's good to be the boss!:k:k
