    Indifference

Hello. I am completely indifferent to alcohol at 70mg, and I feel far, far better than I ever have done before. I've written an academic article about Baclofen and its possible synergistic use with acupuncture and qi gong. I'm going to discuss it today with a specialist in Ancient Chinese thought in my department at Edinburgh University. I think I may have some ideas about why Baclofen does not work for everyone, and how to get around that problem. I'll let you know what happens.

    See you

That's great news! Good luck with your article and discussion. I have found doses around this and even lower beneficial, but I have only taken them after being alcohol free for quite some time, so not sure how I would have gone if still drinking. I've mainly been taking it now to reduce cravings for drugs other than alcohol, and to try and get some stability against anxiety and mood swings. Luckily so far it has seemed to help with these issues, although I'm not yet saying I am cured of all my issues.

So glad to hear it! I've found that baclofen has eliminated my depression and anxiety, and I think there're good reasons for that. OA said the same thing as far as I remember. We'll see.

        Hi, Theodore, and Welcome.

Thanks for sharing the information and good luck with the research! It sounds fascinating. I am also indifferent to alcohol, and have found baclofen to have antidepressant and anti-anxiety qualities. With considerably more than 70mg, but it takes what it takes, I suppose!

I wonder if I might impose on you to add your success on this thread:

We've met before Ne- Estonian girls and tree tattoos. But, in short, I am 24 and had been drinking heavily for several months before I started taking Baclofen. I reached indifference around 60-70 mg with dizziness, tiredness and a stiff neck along the way. All the side effects are completely gone now.

            HA! You had me fooled!

            WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Lordy, would that I were 24! That's so AWESOME (:H) I'm beside myself and have to resort to the tried and true Americanism.

Put your thoughts on that thread, will you, pretty please?

Are you going to get the tattoo? I am. The baclofen molecule. Very excited about it. Sort of. Maybe. I dunno. I'm awfully young to be making that kind of commitment. Estonian girlz? They'd be much more suited to the kind of commitment I'm willing to take on atm. As in, they may want it, live for it, breath for it, but are going to be sorely disappointed when I make it clear that commitment is just not in the vocabulary. Wait. What was I talking about? I don't even know any Estonian women and I rather like my husband for all the other fun stuff... Sheesh. I could fiffle around all day...

So. What're you gonna do now? To Tattoo or Not to Tattoo... To be continued.
            xo!

Well, I got the tree tattoo on my forearm yesterday- it hurt like hell! But now I'm thinking about a picture of Olivier on my left peck, and one of Jonathen Chick on the right:H. Oh, I wouldn't worry about that- Estonian girls are numerous and poly-amerous- you can can share them, and they will share you, with your husband.

I use the word awesome too much. Never worry. The end of addiction is nie

Hi Theodore, I also got good results at low levels - 75mg in my case. I'm now on a daily dose of 25-50 mg and haven't had so much as a Champagne Truffle since Easter. That's after daily drinking for the past 12 years, mostly to black out, and hearty boozing for about 7 years before that. Almost 20 years down the lavvy, holy crap...

I'm very curious to hear your theories about why it works for some and not for others... can't be any worse than the ones we've heard before

Hi Pony. That's fantastic! There are some good theories on here as why baclofen works! But being an ethusiastic, young, formely aclcoholic synologist, who knows something about science, I think I've managed to tie them together, and a little more. We'll see. But I have a feeling my proffessor will listen today- he is a fantastically nice guy, and has at least ten brains in his left frontal lobe:H

You GOT the tattoo? Wow. I may have to seriously consider it. (See how easily I'm swayed??? :H)

I'm not such a fan of theories, especially atm. Beware. or be wary, okay? Fact is where it's at. just sayin

OA is not that pretty. I defo do not want a piccie of him on my a*. I'm sure he would be happy to hear that...

hmmmm. There is a story about Eastern European women in Ne's and Ed's past. The short version is this: We worked together in a place where people were brought over from Eastern Europe to fill the gaps in our industry. These were mostly young, many very attractive, women. There were always several marriages just before the visas expired. Now I'm not sayin nothing, but Ed was kinda hot, supervised many of these women, and we were less than a year into our relationship...
Suffice it to say that I learned my lesson about sharing toys when I was in kindergarten, just like all the other good little boys and girls. I learned later that sometimes sharing simply doesn't work. I'm sad (sort of) to say that I simply don't share some things. Neva eva. I'm sure you understand!

Perhaps the moral of the story is that Estonian girlz are fine, but beware of the Ne's!

                      Congratulations Ted!

That's a pleasantly low dose as well, so good luck there. I'm very interested to hear your theory. I hope you'll share it with us soon.

What is a synologist, if you don't mind me asking?

Yep- I couldn't agree with you more Ne- theories are no good without facts and evidence. But thanks to the work of OA, Chick etc, and thousands of years of Eastern and Western civilisation we now have a lot of both. More than enough for a few good theories I would say. Of course, we need more, but that where the synologists (people who study Chinese langauge and culture) and scientists (people who almost never do) come in! I'm not keen to blurt out my 'theories,' such that they are, on here for fear of misinterpretation.

I also think it's important for any research/trials involving baclofen to be properly pattented to prevent undue interference from drug companies and so called 'scientist' who scuper legitimate research for fear of losing revenue/status in their own practice or discipline. These people are Counter-Utilitarian-Nonsense-Spouting-Tit Suckers, or C.U.N.Ts for short. OA encountered a lot of them on his journey, but it should give us all hope that he mangaged to circumvent them.

Holy fuck Teddy, that is some excellent news!

What are your plans regarding down titration, or are you staying at 70mg?

As you'd only been drinking heavily for a few months I would guess the habit triggers would be rather easier for you to break than for most.

Congrats and I can't wait to hear your theories. :goodjob:

After reading your very clever acronym, and your resentment of bull shit, and your reluctance to post about it, I am suddenly very eager to hear your theories, my friend.

I will try not to be swayed into dismissiveness by your ridiculously young age, in years. I will instead, remember that you are in fact a scholar and researcher in your own right and that I was duly impressed with your credentials lo those many weeks ago.

And the tattoo, which you oughta take a piccie of and put up on here, because I'd like to see that too.

                            But whatever. We're all busy!

In the meantime, I'm really excited to hear what you and your professor come up with and sorry that I didn't *recognize* you immediately. Really. I apologize for that. Very un-Ne, and not very polite.

                              Hi Murph.

I reckon I could go down without many problems, but I don't see they'd be much point- I'm completely indifferent. And suffice to say that, based on what we know, it is extremely unlikely that Baclofen will have detrimental long term effects. In fact, I think it tends to promote excellent, long term health, for reasons which will be explained in due course.
