I've not read the book, so can't really comment one way or the other. What I can tell you though, and this is knowledge gleaned from 1000's of hours of internet research, is that nobody knows more about baclofen than the people right here.

I bought the book BTW. Like terryk, found nothing of use in it. A laundry list of blather without any real helpfulness. He probably lifted most of it from these forums. Stick with this forum for the most diggity info and most importantly, some context. These titrations and side effects and so on are best considered in context of the poster's experience to help you judge whether you might get them and how likely they are to go away if you do. For reals.

It turns out that Phill is charging an upfront fee of 150 Pounds (UK) for a consultation via Skype if his "patients" aren't able to go to him.

That is followed by a 12-week programme - I shudder to think to what extent people are fleeced in the process by someone who is still giving himself out as a doctor.

This is a quote taken directly from an email from Phillip Thomas to a South African who had come across his website:

I run an intense 12 week programme to get you off to the very best start with your new life with baclofen. It is established medicine that it takes at least 12 weeks to break any entrenched behaviour, so anything less than 12 weeks is a waste of time.

I had intended my practice to be based in the UK, but have been inundated with enquiries from overseas, and am currently helping people from Australia, USA, Europe and even Mexico.

I do not take every individual on who approaches me. I am only interested in success stories. I hate failures. I have a series of preliminary questions to determine suitability,

Self-medicating with Baclofen is never to be recommended; Baclofen is a really safe drug, but almost all people run into problems at some stage; generally early on. That is precisely why people seek my help - and to follow the other aspects of my programme.

At this stage, I would normally offer you a detailed on-line consultation; preferably through Sype if you have it. This takes about an hour, and after that we will have a much better understanding of each other and how best to help you. This consultation costs ?150 UK Pounds (about 1,600 rand I think), payable in advance by electronic bank transfer.

If you then want to proceed, we will discuss the level of support that you think is best for you.

Wow, that's a bit of fucking cheek. I'd just sort of put him in the back of my mind, thinking he was a harmless nut, but that's just outrageous. I think we need to come together and put out a similar product, for free, and try and let people know about it before they are fleeced by this muppet.

PM me if you are interested in working on it with me. I'm pretty busy at the moment, but can't see it taking too long to put together. Someone needs to stop this clown profiteering off the backs of desperate people.
