    How about some stickies??

How about some stickies? Who's in charge here? There are a few threads I've found here which should be stuck at the top, ergo, stickies. Offhand these get my vote:

    Any other suggestions?
Can the admin set up some stickies?

I may be wrong, but I haven't ever actually seen an admin or a mod!

We've tried lots of times, without success.

When I posted a poll, very few people actually voted, which conveys a message to the admins that it isn't really important.

So unless we all learn to pull together and make our voices heard, it won't be happening anytime soon. The broad consensus is that there should be a sticky for each of the mainstream meds.

Maybe I can provide lessons on activism, done the South African way Can you toyi-toyi?

Ever since Roberta Jewell took a hands-off approach to the site, the admins / mods seem to have been playing a much more low-key role.

Also keep in mind that the meds section was established as (I suspect) a bit of an afterthought. MWO was originally primarily aimed at the programme developed by RJ - the hypnosis tapes, Kudzu etc.

She has previously posted (and I'm paraphrasing) that she is letting MWO carry on as it is currently, but that she cannot be that involved any more. Apparently, the alternative is to shut it down.

I don't think any serious thought has been given to passing on the baton, so to speak (and I may have just voiced a sacrilegious thought by posting that sentiment).

          Lame

That sounds a little lame, IMHO. Whenever I get onto the front page of these forums

          https://www.mywayout.org/community/

the Meds topic is usually the second most viewed. At this moment, 18 people are viewing the General Discussion topic, 8 people are viewing the Meds topic, and all the other topics have 0-4 people viewing. If the site is driven and paid for by the advert banners (including a bunch promoting MWO products), we are doing a lot of the viewing of that advertising. Just my 2 cents.

As far as I can tell there's no way to contact a mod or an admin *at all*. I'm sure some people here would be happy to volunteer for the post, but I can't see how to get it done.

What we could do is report this thread en-masse with the message "PLEASE READ THIS AND DON'T JUST DELETE IT! WE WANT SOME THREADS TO BE STICKY! PLEASE SEE REPORTED THREAD FOR DETAILS!"

              It's been tried before.

The problem is that there are a few meds, and each would need a few stickies. So you'd have a first page of nothing but stickies.

Alas, as they would be handy.

                How about some stickies??

It is as lame as it gets.

Before Roberta Jewel (RJ), a psuedonym adopted by the writer of the book "My Way Out", pulled out, she regularly came on the forums with responses to questions, posting latest research (in the research forum), and even giving her phone number out in PMs... she once PMed me when I seemed suicidal, and gave me her home phone number, and talked to me for 2 hours, talking me out of suicide and imparting wisdom at the same time.

She finally had to go from our phone call when her handicapped son (the one she worried she had physically damged because she drank whist pregnant, she says it in her book -- turns out it was a genetic disease) called and had to be picked up somewhere.

And btw, I think the meds forum was not an afterthought. In her book, she touts Topomax as key in her recovery, but also recognized other meds.

The point is, when people like Tracy and all the extremely negative things that happened there, occurred, RJ would personally intervene. She would write to them, have them deleted. It happened often, and as a result, all the forums and threads thrived. People felt safe, and the exchange of personal and med information was spread freely.

When RJ pulled out, she cited personal reasons, that she just could not do it single-handedly -- fair enough. But get this, she said she had chosen a few members that had shown themselves to have been the most stable, and seemed the most appropriate, to be the moderators.

Obviously, I reacted with outrage, and demanded an explanation. And that such a system not be put into place. And if so, we should know who the moderators were.

3, maybe 4, other members supported my views. The rest were apparently unfazed.

I withdrew from MWO in protest, and wrote RJ PMs to tell her how I felt. She did not answer, and since then it has been free rein, or reign.

It took me a very long time before I even revisited MWO, and even then, I stuck to Holistic Healing, as that is the area I felt I could most likely give, and in those days, it was more about giving, rather than taking.

(An aside: Because, based on my own experience, I felt needy people were not getting the attention they needed, I suggested the "Need Help ASAP" forum. The next day it appeared... I know I've mentioned this before, but I say it not to get credit for it (in fact, I feel like a real Quisling for almost never checking it anymore). The point is, Roberta was THAT involved.

But when she pulled out, almost no one voiced protest.

This is why I reacted so strongly to Tracy (and others) when they took over and started pushing their agendas, calling people names, etc., turning people off, oldies like me, and newbies looking for information and support.

And many of the newer veterans let it happen; they thought it would "blow over'. These newer veterans thought it was fine to let these people come and infect the threads... that people would read through and see these people for what they truly were. With their negativism, personal insults, and often completely outrageous statements, I know it ruined the site for many people. That can never be undone. All because there are no real monitors here, reading what's going on... they, or he or she, only react when hundreds of complaints come their way.

I am still wary about posting my experiences because of the way others, and myself, have been personally accosted. I won't post a day-by-day diary for this reason. I only started my own thread at the urging of others here, and I often regret it. I titled it the way I did because I wanted to avoid the impression that this would be my personal blog. I was not ready for that. Especially considering recent developments on the site.

                Thanks RJ.
And OA. (Olivier Ameisen, author of "The end of my Addiction" originally called "The Last Glass" in French, then renamed "Heal Thyself", apparently to appease an American market

Sometimes I feel like she's just another Olivier Ameisen. Starts the ball rolling... and then drops it, for whatever reason. The real people stop mattering. It all becomes a big picture.

I'm still not happy about this site and only subscribe to a few threads of people I know as individuals off the boards. I don't have time to follow each individual's story, it doesn't impart enough useful information to make it worth hours a day to keep up with the individuals. I used to follow all the forums. Frankly, I don't have 6-8 hours a day to do that. or even more to catch up whenever I am away for a few days.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

A Naltrexone thread would be nice too. At the moment anyone logging in for the first time might think Baclofen is the only option.
