    No more baclofen for me

    You had a cold.
Glad you called Dr. L. Which we all encouraged you to do at the very start of the "choking."
Also glad it seems to be working for you.
    I too sleep really well.

I had that choking too, D&T, it was like nothing I'd ever experienced before or since, but it went away at higher doses. It was frightening to wake up choking twenty times a night.

I didn't have a cold NE. I was really choking. And I wish you wouldn't put quotes around the word choking. This is part of the reason why I don't come here. Just because a person is having symptoms that you all aren't use to seeing or hearing about doesn't mean that the medicine isn't the reason for the symptoms. There have been a few people who experienced coughing as they have stated in their post on here to me. And Bruun has also experienced choking. Again, this is the reason why I have stopped coming to this website. People trying to poke fun or assume that I am making up side effects. Pathetic!

Thank you, Bruun, for confirming that I am NOT making this stuff up. Ugh... People I swear.

I haven't called Dr. Levin since before I started coming here. Dr. Levin told me to take the medicine in 8 hour intervals within the first month of when I started taking baclofen which was 3 months ago.

Good luck to you... I hope the medication starts to even out. Dr. L is very slow in titrating and hopefully you don't get bad SE

                  No more baclofen for me

Hello all! I am back with an update. I am currently at 150mg a day. Taking 50mg's three times a day. Unfortunately, I am VERY sleepy. I have almost fell asleep twice during my math class and once while driving

For me not drinking on Bac makes a BIG difference in the sleepy/tired SE's. Based on my ill-advised experiment titrating down and then completely off Bac, I think its a much better choice to stay on your dose and do your best to limit the AL if you can.

Thank you Grommet. =) When you didn't drink, did you experience sleepiness?

Also, I only drank 4 beers last night. I hadn't drank in 2 days, but I have been tired. =( I am sick of being tired. I don't like being drunk, but I don't like almost falling asleep while driving either. =(

                              No more baclofen for me

                              Hey D&T,

For me, the best thing I did to handle the sleepy/tired SE's was to go to 6 doses a day, no matter the level of mg. Dose when I wake up, then every 3 hours, then dose at bedtime.

Granted, it is a pain in the ass. Also, I was worried about being loopy before a big meetings or other important times. But it just leveled everything out and overall was much easier.

Everyone's different, just my dos pesos.

When I got over 180mg/day, the flush of side effects that a 60mg dose gave me (including somnolence) would be too intense, so I just changed to a 45mg dose every 6 hours. I hit my switch at 280, with 4 70mg doses at 8am, 1pm, 7pm, 12pm. I'm at 240 over a year later. The side effects are all gone. I easily handle the 4 60mg doses and only occasionally get sleepy in the late evening sometimes after a hard day's work. Those times I just have to keep moving, have a cup of coffee, or take a quick catnap for 10-15 minutes. Also - I've had some bad reactions to the energy drinks on baclofen, which I've mentioned before in other posts. They rekindle a flush of bac-related side-effects for me. I avoid them entirely. Good luck and I'm pulling for you. -tk
Thank you tk! Thankfully, the energy drinks haven't given me any extra SE's. Being at 150mg's is interesting though. I am starting to see things that aren't there. =( Perhaps, I will try your method. I start taking 160mg's this Monday. Maybe I will space it out to 40mg's every XXX hours. Thanks again! =)
