How quickly can I go down

Ne - I seem to really have upset you here. I have sent you two pm's replying to yours last night. I really dont understand why you havent received them. I totally and utterly respect your advice and actually you have been an absolute lifeline to me on here. Please do not stop talking to me, your advice is amazing.

For those reasons and others I don't think it's wise for me to continue to PM about things that could be misunderstood by other people if the issue is one that is started on a thread. I feel a responsibility to clarify misunderstandings about bac and any other treatment (ANY other) that offer people help and hope and a way out.

I dont understand Ne, I really dont, please tell me what I have done wrong. I also dont know what you want me to clarify, other than what I already have done.

Maybe we could chat on skype and clear this up, it is apparent that PM's are not getting through, perhaps your mail box is full??

Stay with me on this one my friend.

I don't understand how it's okay to jump in the middle of something without actually reading the information posted and issuing dire warnings and urgent mandates. It is very unlike Guitarista and several other senior members who are diving in with such things. It confuses me a great deal.

Bottlestopper is a woman, and has been AF for three weeks, both of which are apparent in her original post.
Subsequent posts make clear that she is feeling better.

I hope she'll clear up the circumstances in which she posted originally, because I think that's relevant. It's also vitally important for those who come behind, and for those lurking, to understand the entire situation.
Baclofen does not make one suicidal. It does not cause apnea. It does not lead to three weeks without sleep. It simply doesn't.

Most importantly, I think that support from MWOers is a key to success in this battle. That entails reading a good bit, and establishing relationships, and posting regularly. It is also vitally important that those of us who are senior members participate in a supportive and non-judgemental way. I hope I'm not off base. I don't mean to be antagonistic.

This response confuses me also, but hopefully bottlestopper herself can clear up any misunderstanding.

      Peace, people, truly.

NE will all due respect, Bottlestopper was reaching out for opinions. I gave mine in all good faith and with what information was put in front of me. It is then up to Bottlestopper to take from that what she will. When people mention suicide my antennae goes ballistic. This will always without exception be my reaction.

Nothing to apologise for Botts, you reached out for advice and support, nothing more nothing less. Please dont feel that you have anything to be sorry about. I wish you well on your journey :l Saff

            Bottlestopper,

Sorry I am a sometime poster, sometime lurker :-)
I also had issues with Bac once I got to 180. I HAD to come back down for the sake of sanity. I found my life back going between 80 and 120. I don't know if I officially hit the switch but I do not drink like I use to. I now have a drink on occasion but I can honestly say what I have drank in the last few months use to be my consumption in a week.
I hope titrating down will find you peace and keep you sober; it worked for me.
Guitarista and Sapphire have their hearts in the right place:h They care and so do I.

                  Yes Bottlestopper stick around,

The name is enough to keep me around! Have you ever noticed the majority of us have wine as our major demon? It's funny that in my warped mind I thought I couldn't be an alcoholic if I just drank wine. Too feminine, too proper, whatever.

And Guitarista I know you are from Australia but that house looks like a house I knew from the east coast here in the states. It's beautiful!

Whew, okay. I'm fully awake and present now, too.

G-bloke, as always, thank you for your thoughts. You too, Sapphire. We're all, after all, in this together.

Stopperage- I responded to your PMs sister! I'm not going anywhere! I just don't want the impression left that I (or anyone else) doesn't take this stuff (especially bodily/emotionally harm) very seriously.

Peace out, peeps! I'm off to tackle anatomy and physiology! (cross your fingers it doesn't bring me to that point! a lame joke--but I try.)

So. What's news? Doc's visit, and you're healthy-ish. Went down yesterday? To what? Any sleep? Better today?

Bottlestopper my husband was having very bad twitches when he was on a high dose and he took 5-Hydroxytryptophan which helped enormously with it. The main thing was that he had to avoid any supplements with vitamin B6 in them while he was on it.

                              Bottlestopper,

Baclofen can, in fact, aggravate sleep apnea. It is a muscle relaxant and there are muscles in the throat.

At a mere 60 mgs/day, I snore. Before Baclofen I did not snore.

Sleep apnea is not to be ignored. I hope you get that squared away soon. My husband's life improved vastly once he started on a CPAP machine. He actually gets REM sleep now and awakens feeling pretty darned good. I wish we had him diagnosed years ago.

My snoring is not sleep apnea, just a relaxed old lady's throat. It only bothers my husband. lol

Hopefully, you can titrate down to a point where you are still not drinking but feel better.

How quickly can I go down

So an update. I am on 120 now and have been for 2 days, the SE's are much more manageable. The apnea is still there but not as bad, I can get about 1 hour sleep at a time now instead of 10 minutes which is much better. Anxiety is still through the roof, but I think that is still lack of sleep and worry about work and all I have to do in less than a week.

Doc was next to useless. Gave me an antibiotic for a chest infection that I am allergic to, so that made it worse as I ended up with acid reflux and terrible stomach cramps etc on top of everything else. Am I a trainwreck or what?

Gave me some valerian to help me sleep, said I will need to go to docs in England to get some trials done to see about the apnea, so there doesnt seem to be a quick fix for that one, as waiting lists in the UK can be a very long time.

However, the somnolence in the day is much better and the depression has lifted. All good here. However, I have started drinking again. This is the strange thing, I think I might have hit the switch or was nearly there. I had one glass of wine with dinner on hubbies birthday Tuesday, had no desire to have more, took me over an hour to drink it. Sort of enjoyed the taste, but didnt get a buzz from it.

The last three nights I have had one or two glasses with dinner, no more at all. Unheard of for me. Again easy to stop, although tonight I could have had another one, but didnt. So I dont think I have hit the switch as such, but certainly drinking within sensible limits and a hell of a lot less than I used to. I can now stop, I WILL REPEAT THAT. I HAVE A STOP BUTTON. I never have had a stop button before in my life. NOW THAT IS A RESULT.

I am going to stay at 120 for a while, go the cough and post nasal drip back, but maybe the antibiotics will clear that. If they dont I might go down to 100 for a few days. See how I am when I go home (much more temptation there, a girlie night on Saturday night, dinner with friends etc), if I find myself driinking more or craving I will continue to go back up, but VERY slowly. Maybe 10 a week. I am obviously very sensitive to bac and its side effects.

Therefore watch this space. I am going to copy this post to my bac thread, so I have a copy of it for my journey, so sorry for those of you who may have to read this twice.

Thanks for everyone for your help and encouragement, and to those of you whose SE might mean you give up, please dont just play with your doses a bit, and keep on plugging, it really does work this stuff. It is a miracle.
