Getting people to believe that Baclofen isn't a placebo

Hi help, long time no see. Glad to hear that things are working out for you.

Man, Cass, I dodged a bullet here. Hadn't been back for a while, and had forgotten exactly what I was dealing with. I'm editing my post, and unkicking the hornets nest....

Getting people to believe that Baclofen isn't a placebo

      Hi Cassandra and Bleep!

This is the cure. For all who are struggling, please continue to find your supply of Baclofen and take it. Belly through all the side effects and titrate up to your switch (you will know when it happens). Stay at your switch dose for at least a solid month or more. Titrate down very slowly.

You will be amazed at how you will be able to look at your vice (mine was wine) and look at a glass of water and feel completely indifferent. Most of the time you will choose the water because you are just thirsty. Your brain becomes balanced and you are cured. No more impulse behavior. It works people!!!!

Please contact me if you are struggling. I would love to help you.
Indifference is in your future with Baclofen. It works!

My frustration with Baclofen, which is shared by Dr. Oliver Ameisen, is that because Baclofen is an off patent medication there is no profit motive for drug companies to support clinical trials that would demonstrate its efficacy in treating addiction.

I've lost track of how long I've been taking Bac. About 3 years . I went up well over 300mg, I think I went well past my switch,
Im happy to say im down to 40mg a day,
I also go to the pub every so often, 2 or 3 pints all night, I never drink at home now, don't see the point.

I might not be the perfect bac success story yet, but I can definitely attest that it’s not a placebo effect. I started baclofen the first time around, under a doctor’s guidance, after a medical detox, from drinking anywhere from a liter and a half to a half gallon of vodka or bourbon a day, depending on my mood. As my dose went up, I noticed my cravings getting less and less (to only 80 mg). I never reached indifference as many of you have, but the lessening of cravings helped me to say “NO!” I still drank some evenings during the week, but only at a fraction of the amount that I used to, and many evenings, not at all. It was only when hectic schedules interfered with my remembering to take it that things fell to $hit. I’m not one to fall into believing placebo effects. In fact, I usually figure most drugs that I’ve taken during my life are NOT going to work. The only thing I tend to believe is that they’ll give me terrible side effects - because mosts drugs I’ve taken have. The truth is - baclofen not only helped me, I actually didn’t get any of the side effects I’ve heard you guys talk about. I guess because I never got to a higher dose. But, point is - baclofen does help!!

Bounce! That is very good news. I've remained at around 200 for almost 6 months now with complete indifference. You post gives me hope that it's totally time to start titrating downwards. Thank you! p.s. I, too, can have a glass of wine or two whenever I choose with no question that I will go overboard. It's miraculous!

Neva Eva!! So nice to see you. You were a big help to me during my start on this journey. This whole board was. It was how I discovered my cure. Thank you for that and I am proud to be part of your Sweet success board! Open to talk with anyone that may have questions. Bless you all.
