I know I don't have the most respected status on this site, however I find it judicial to ask if other people can delete posts , other then onself doing so? I just sent a post to someone here......I know I was logged in, believe me I don't do that very often, for obvious reasons. I also have had instances where I have posted, and they have been deleted, and not by me. I am not a conspiracy theorist by any means but.....

I, obviously will contact the administrators to see if it is possible to do such here. I also will contact my IP expert to see if it is possible. I don't post much, and I told an untruth about being banned. I just couldn't get on...........so thought that was the case. But no contact from the administrators about not being able to post.

Can anyone enlighten me about personal posts being deleted by other parties?

    Thanks

    Missy

    Hiya, Missy!
Nope. No one can delete your posts. They can't move 'em either. The only thing that can be done with someone else's post is to quote it. It can be cut and pasted to another thread, through the quote mechanism. In that instance there is a specific number attached to the quote that directs back to the person quoted, should one want to get really investigatory. I'm not sure how to do that, but I figure there's a rhyme or reason to it.

FYI, back in the very beginning lo those many moons ago, I was repeatedly confused about what happened to things on MWO. Sometimes I felt like I couldn't get on. (I once thought I was banned too. Very confusing that.) And once I could only log on to certain areas. There have been plenty of times when I lost posts or couldn't find them later.
Who knows? It's all a MWO mystery at this point...

So I guess if Bluto had totally disappeared...........as he seems to have, he could then delete his posts? Very confusing. I still know I have posted here, without confusion, only to find my sign in box totally empty....i.e as that I had not signed in at all? And I had.

It has happened more then once. Even tonight. Sorry, find your explanation just a tad confusing. Here is my truth. You quoted to Bluto that you thought his gung ho approach to bac was a little out of sorts. I replied that I concurred with your thoughts.

Next day, pfft......all gone. Did he/she make it all go away? I really have gone back through a few pages to see what happened to him. Can you direct me to where he has gone and to which page?

        thanks... missy

I have been an Admin before on a Vbulletin message board much like this one.

The "permissions" can be set up any way the "owner" of the board wishes. I.E. some Admins/Mods could have more options as to how they choose to moderate the board.

On this board, members can not delete their own posts, it CAN however be set up that way, if the owner, or someone else with that much power chooses so.

If a person stops comming to the board, all of their posts will remain. But, there is a "Delete Member" option in the Admin Control Panel. If, such an option is utilized, any and ALL posts, either started by, or responded to, by that user vanish. Its like the member was never here. If that member gets "banned" all the posts remain.

I have had the same thing happen to me, but Ive also discovered, my internet seems to fade in and out of effectiveness. I think what was going on with me, was, I would respond, but at a time when my internet was not working, and my post would not show up.

It happens ALLLLL the time on FB, think its happened a few times here as well.

In short, I dont think there is some conspiracy on here, but I could be wrong...........LOLz

Hey Nelz, congrats on your sober days! Yay..... Get the drift of your post, still not convinced, that people can disappear, especially the ones who seem to contradict , or even more importantly, use baclofen in an inappropriate way. Where the hell did they go?
There are always going to be people who use a mediciation (any medication) in an inappropriate way. Par for the course. I guess when these new drugs come on the market (or become known) there are always going to be people who use them inappropriately. And I guess there are many people, who really don't want that known. And fair enough. I guess its the same old question, truth or dare.

              Missy,
I don't really get what you're getting at. I found what you're talking about in terms of what Bluto posted, and our responses. I'm not really sure why I did that now. I wanted to make you feel comfortable, I suppose. But if the purpose of looking that up was because you feel something or someone was behaving inappropriately, hmmm. Bluto's taking direct action to save his own life. I respect him for that. And I'll add that I wanted to delete my response to him shortly after I wrote it. It's not for me (or you) to say. Ya' know? I hope he's doing well. Lots and lots and lots and lots...of peeps drop off. Who can say why?

PS. I'm going to delete the previous quoted part soon. I don't think it's really fair to revisit something I wasn't comfortable with. I was just trying to help out. And also, I just used the search engine and typed in Bluto's name.

                  Still confused

Hi Ne, just went back to Bluto's thread dated 16/9. Your following post is definitely not there and neither is mine. I believe you said you were going to delete yours (or did I get that wrong?) but who deleted mine? You seem to have brought my post back from the dead in your previous post. but it is no longer on Bluto's thread????? Is it me?

It wasn't on his thread Missy. I can't remember which... search his posts and you'll find us. It's not possible to delete someone else's post.

You didn't maybe have Bluto on "ignore"? That way, you wouldn't see his posts...

I don't think you can put yourself on ignore, though :H:H:H

Ne, it was on his thread, I am sober sometimes, and am reasonably intelligent too. Ig, don't like the tone of your post at all. Thought we were all here to support each other. But go ahead and make fun. We people who have alcohol problems are used to that, but unfortunately it is even more hurtful when it comes from our own. I know where the post was and I know the date I posted it, you can believe it or not, I don't really care.

And Ne, why would i post such a reply to someone else's thread when I was agreeing with your post on Bluto's thread.?
Where are the posts now? I honestly believe people here can move posts somewhere else. I remember that Murph once said that a post had been moved from one person's thread to another. And it wasn't in quote fashion either.

I would not have started this thread if I believed this not to be true. But go ahead, make fun. I know my integrity is intact. And that is all I need to know.

I couldnt find it either Missy, I believe it was the thread where Bluto went completely off on Geekteeth, which seemed to come out of nowhere.
As far as moving posts, posts can be copied from one thread and quoted into another.
As far as Murph's comments, as well as many others here, not neccesarily pertaining to this situation - Why do people feel the need to belittle others? People who come here are sufferring from a horrible disease. Have we forgotten that? Have we forgotten that we should treat each other with respect and dignity? Do two wrongs make a right? I am so dissappointed with some of the actions here. We have people who have been here a while - people that others look to for guidance. Those people who clearly want to be seen as go to people should treat EVERYONE with respect. I'd hope that we are not just picking and choosing who we wish to support. I think it's time everyone resets here.
