It's all in reference to the sport compact racing trend, namely hondas. A b18a1 is a peticular type of honda engine. Vtec is a technology used by honda on certain engines they build. And mostly it is fun to make fun of the sport compact racing scene, especially hondas, even if you own one and are into the racing thing.

I just want to say that I went to the Seattle Worlds Fair in 1963 and went up the Space Needle. My parents even bought me a souvenir model which I kept on my shelf for over 20 years. I just had to say that. I like the Avatar by the way. I also saw Sylvester. Is he still there?
I also have to apologize for a statement I made about metabolism of Baclofen. I said it was metabolized through the liver but in fact "Dr. Leggio said baclofen is very safe to use in patients with liver disease because it is primarily metabolized through the kidneys, unlike alternative drugs for alcohol dependency that are metabolized in the liver and are contraindicated for patients with cirrhosis."
Just read Reggie's story which I think is amazing. Baclofen seems to work for alcohol in the same way as for cocaine as suggested by Dr. Childress. I think to say it is not a "cure" because one has to go on to exercise some self discipline or whatever one calls it is interesting because that is what she says in the brain imaging video, that Baclofen stops the intense craving so that one can use one's noggin to think about whether one wants to have a drink, rather than being unable to think about it. I think that shows how it works as a "cure" rather than that it is not a "cure". That is the whole point of it, if you get my drift. Video - Brain Imaging - Baclofen UKBACLOFENISTA

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"

hello all
We used to go camping all down the west coast for a month in the summer. Favourite camp ground, Jesse E. Honeyman State Park.
I have just thought of a new take on what alcoholism is and whether Baclofen is a cure. Baclofen stops the craving, the .5 secondly urge to drink. It allows the mind to become "indifferent" and have a longer time to think about whether to drink. Then, over time, there are other issues such as psychological, behavioural issues which made one drink in the first place. Is that "alcoholism" though? If you stay on a regular dose of Baclofen and are aware of these issues then how different are you from anyone. You might have, for instance, a hypoglycaemic condition or get depressed and just want to blot things out. But Baclofen allows you go go through these episodes and come out of it again just as someone who is not alcoholic may go through a bad patch or take a drink because of a blood sugar low.
A lot of women I know drink during period. That is something to do with blood sugar levels dropping and hormonal surges. Is it fair to say that they are alcoholi? Is it fair to say that someone who drinks through a time of severe depression even if it lasts quite a while is an alcoholic. I might start drinking and drink til Xmas quite heavily but I would then be able to stop, I think. Not that I have ever done that and don't suggest it.
But what about the lost years? Is it really to be expected that coming off drink one is just going to return to a normal life? There is a lot of adjustment which can be painful and it then becomes something else, not the neurological impulse to drink which makes one drink...?? Does that make one an alcoholic anymore than someone is an alcoholic because they drink heavily, for example, through a divorce or during a bereavement? Perhaps we need to think about other ways of describing different aspect of this illness rather than saying Bacloen doesn't work because a lot of people continue to drink. After all, everyone drinks, pretty much.
Just a thought.BACLOFENISTA

hello all
I had an acura integra before I bought a subaru wrx... that thing is frickin night and day from an acura. Anyhow... let us know how your first phone call meeting goes. Waiting to see how bac effects other addictions and excited about it. A friend of mind is extremely addicted to food... he eats more and has food frickin ecstasy when he eats. I always wanted to nudge him towards Bac because he describes eating how I describe drinking. Don't know if its correlated but I bet it is.
