    Baclofen for Marijuana Dependency...

Please repost if you still have the info... It was probably the single-most important post I have encountered on MWO.
To think how many people have stopped taking bac because the side-effects were so horrible on these pills???
Hit "the switch" at 190 mg/day on 11/10/11... Thanks to Dr. A, Dr. L, and all that have supported my journey on MWO!!:guitar1:

If it were deleted because they thought it could be construed as medical advice, I'd have thought they would have at least spoken with me.
Different thread? I think it was anyway. I'll look.

Once again, thanks Ne for your words of inspiration! Give me a few days and I will definitely post my story on any/all success threads I can find.

I am both humbled and proud to be the first to post about bac and pot. There are so many others out there that suffer from the same dilemma... I attended Marijuana Anonymous meetings for 11 months, and you would be amazed at the number of people in attendance. I think people are finally realizing that MJ addiction is real. Marijuana is now a potent drug that contains up to 30% THC, not the 1-3% that was smoked in the 60's.

Thank you for asking your husband about his status with marijuana. You are a caring person and I am so appreciative of your help!

i'm supposed to be readying for sleep, listening to my hypno cd for cigarette quitting (which i seem to have done as of 3 days ago), but i wanted to chime in and say congrats again, bobsled. this is great and revolutionary, what you're telling!

i also wanted to share (please forgive if i repeat myself) that my hypnotist did include some words about no longer needing pot (which seemed to jump out at me while in my 'trance'), and boy did something work with that! i want no cigarettes, and i have zero desire to smoke weed, either. i still have some, a friend smoked some at my house yesterday, but it doesn't call me, and i feel so liberated! dear greg, i totally relate to your joy. i am thinking that taking the baclofen -especially now, based on your experience- will suport my uber-sober life; it took a kind of magician to pry ganja-love out of my mind, but i trust baclofen will serve to keep it out.

              baclofen works, babies!

I'm glad, Bobs. Remember, it doesn't have to be the profound-est, the best-est, the anything-est. That keeps a lot of us from doing it! Oy. Bleep's indifference post through me for a loop***. It was so beautiful, and right before I found it. (I couldn't believe that he beat me to it! Fortunately, not a race and we all get to win!)

***Speaking of you, Lo0p. hmmmm. The great granddaddy, (the youngest in history) and he hasn't posted on the success thread. hmmmm. You ready for unbridled, persistent, insistent and annoying yet gentle reminders???

:l all! Hope it's a content filled day!

Switched at 180mgs of Baclofen on 1/31/11, and again on 10/8/11 at 200mgs.

                          Baclofen for Marijuana Dependency...

                          Just a quick update...

I am two+ weeks sober, but to be honest, I haven't kept track. It was such an important thing when I attended twelve-step meetings. But now it just doesn't mean as much. The date that matters to me is 11/10/11 (reached indifference).

The insomnia is by far the toughest part for me... The tossing and turning and nights on the couch (with respect to gf) are a real issue. But it's funny- I wake up fairly refreshed even though I got 2 hours of sleep. I try to allow myself a nap during the day, but I usually don't want to take it. I know it will get better as I titrate down (slowly), but it is something that should be known before starting a bac regimen of your own.

I have decided to go up 10 mg/day more (200 mg) for reasons I can not explain, even though I hit the switch at 190 mg. Maybe it is the number 200, maybe I just want to make sure I don't have to titrate up ever again. But that is as far as I will go.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I do not have any problems today with my refill at Walgreens. It has gone smoothly so far, so hopefully it will stay the same.

I have 4 great days vs. 1 not so great day on baclofen with regards to anxiety.

If anyone else with marijuana dependency issues is reading this, please PM me and we can discuss further.

                            Baclofen for Marijuana Dependency...

                            Another update...

I had the best sleep in a month last night!! 7+ hours and I feel great... Maybe it is the L-Tyrosine working or maybe it is my body getting used to the bac. Either way, I hope it is a sign of things to come.

My anxiety seems to be getting better and better... Just a couple of rough patches, but compared to my pre-bac levels it is night and day.

I feel like smoking pot is the last thing on my mind right now. Indifference is bliss!!

On another note, I had a great experience with my pharmacist today at Walgreens. Not only was it no problem filling my script (they had to order more bac which took an extra day), but he was genuinely open to learning about HDB. I just sent him some links to help him learn more. There ARE caring professionals out there that are open to learning about HDB. You just have to find one. It might take a few different pharmacists, but it is worth the time to find someone that is supportive of this regimen.

Bob, that is one of the most awesome posts I've seen in a while. Yep bac works for pot as we both know, but passing the baton on to just one medical professional is a great thing. Who knows who the pharmacist will tell about bac? How he himself will use the information? Where it will lead? Good stuff, Bob.

RE the sleep issue: I know what you mean about not getting much sleep but yet coping well on a little. I used to need 7 hours per night or I was a zombie. These days I tend to get between 3 and 5 but I'm fine the next day. Or at least I seem to be. Maybe it's storing up and it'll all come crashing down around my ears eventually. But I think long term, high dose baclofen somehow works to make you just need less sleep. Weird!

                                Hey Brenda,

I am right with you on the sleep thing... I feel no need to nap during the day but do feel extremely tired about twice a day. It subsides after a few minutes.

Yeah, this is the another way that HDB can be introduced into the medical world. Most doctors/pharmacists are indeed caring people... I sent him few links and hopefully he will read them.
