Costco- the cheapest Rx for Baclofen?

I wanted to relay some info to those out there struggling to afford their supply of bac...

I got my 20 mg pills for $.14 each at the Costco pharmacy in the Los Angeles area. It was 6x cheaper than Walgreens (4x cheaper than with $20 prescription card).

I am working with Dr. L, and he said the Costco bac is just fine if it is 20 mg (he seems to favor the 20 mg pill over the 10 mg).

I hope this helps someone struggling with $ (like me) right now.

I've contacted my local Costco and they indeed have the best prices in my area (Sacramento), save my own local pharmacy up in the hills which I am pretty sure gives me a special discounted rate.

I also ensured that they could get the same brand (Teva) as Walgreens. Though it is not the'r default so you have to ask for it. I've found this brand (out of the 12 or so that I've taken) to have the most minimal side effect profile (read: zero) out of them all.

There are 3 things you are allowed to buy at Costco without a Costco membership. One is prescriptions. The other two are (of course) alcohol and cigarettes.

      Hey Lo0p,

Thanks for the brand advice... It looks like they gave me bac made by Upsher Smith. I will definitely request next time. I go to Costco for all the things you mentioned plus the free samples and the $1.50 dog/soda combo outside!

It could very well be personal but Upsher Smith was one of the ones that gave me horrible SE's.

        I compiled a little report here: https://www.mywayout.org/community/f2...fen-46174.html

edit: This was before I found Teva

I had a terrible encounter once with their food court. Here's my experience:

          The Costco Conspiracy

When one mentions Costco, several feelings emerge. Most of them, naturally, are positive. We've all heard praise for this gigantic company, ranging from their "extremely polite and helpful employees," to their "industry-leading customer service and satisfaction." After recent traumatic experiences with this business behemoth, I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this is all a lie. What goes on behind the scenes at Costco is an entirely different picture than the one that their honchos in PR would like you to believe. It must be noted that the following story has not been embellished, distorted, or in any way exaggerated, as there is simply no need to. The cruel and inhumane treatment with which I was subjected to speaks for itself.

One day a few weeks ago, while I was walking to the bus stop after meeting with an acquaintance, the first rumblings of hunger emerged. Seeing that there was a Costco nearby, I decided to stop by to purchase some hot-and-ready foodstuffs, fresh from their food court. Having eaten their delicious Polish sausages countless times, I was very excited with the prospect of this affordable and tasty snack.

I quickly discovered a hindrance to my goal: The food court in this particular Costco is located on the inside of the premises. "No big deal," you might be saying to yourselves. Now, for those of you unfamiliar with their policies, this cult-like company actually requires that you obtain membership to enter the building. You must pay them for the ability to shop at their store! This begs the obvious question: Which came first - Costco or Scientology? After much research conducted after the incident, I have unconvered a very disturbing truth about Costco. As is turns out, L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, founded Costco in 1955, originally intended to be a haven for depraved Scientology rituals and a 24-hour fitness center. As time progressed, Hubbard
decided to start selling his many books there, and gradually the company expanded to become the monster it is today. This is indisputable.

But I'm getting side-tracked. After hearing many horror stories of non-members attempting to infiltrate their fortress, I realized I would have to devise a fool-proof scheme to get to my hot dog. Dressed in jeans, a t-shirt, and my trusty sneakers, I casually walked up to the woman sentry who was vigilantly guarding the front door. "Excuse me, ma'am, I'm here for a job interview. Which way is the HR department?" A brilliant plan! "It's over there in the back by the food court," she replies. Basking in my own sense of self-satisfaction, I begin my victory walk. But alas, this fierce and persistent sentinel was professionally trained to develop a voracious curiosity.

I hadn't made it two steps before she made a query that led to my downfall. "Who's your interview with?" she inquires. Wretched woman! Thinking quickly and speaking with the confidence of a man who can not possibly be misinformed, I reply that it's with "Pete." A countenance of confusion emerged. Not a good sign. "There's no one that works here named Pete," she informs me. How could anyone have possibly been prepared for my cunning and devious response? "Uh, well it might have been Sam...I'll just go inside and check."

Things are looking bleak for me and my stomach. She requests that I wait there for a second. I had never expected to be taken hostage by this Front Door Fuhrer! From her standard issue all-purpose utility belt she produces a concealed walkie-talkie. "Manager to front entrance, please, manager to front entrance," she frantically calls for backup. If this pathetic underling were so inhumane, I didn't even want to consider the possibility of facing a superior!

Little did she know I still had an ace up my sleeve. I produce a blank piece of torn paper from my pocket, study it, and then tell her I'm at the wrong Costco. I quickly and discreetly evacuated the premises, never to return again.

OK, Costco, you won this time. In contemplating my plan for vengeance, a famous proverb, uniquely interpreted and orated by our great ex-president George W. Bush, comes to mind. "Fool me once, shame on...shame on you? Fool me - you can't get fooled again!" Remember this, Costco: You'll rue the day you crossed THIS brain!
Knowledge of what is possible is the beginning of happiness.

Thanks Lo0p... I have already called Dr. L and I will pick up my new prescription in a few days after they order it. It is $20 compares to $11, but money well spent when it comes to less SE's! I can use the other bac as an emergency supply. Good to know people are looking out for newbies like myself!

              Good!

Like I said, it may have just been a personal reaction, but that stuff made me feel like I was sick as a dog and losing my mind!

It often makes me wonder how many SE's people suffer that could be attributed to brand of baclofen. I used to be of the opposite opinion until I experienced it first hand.

I don't think anybody has mentioned it to you yet, but I personally have witnessed several anecdotal reports among these pages about baclofen being effective for marijuana addiction. I noticed that it seemed to be at a much lower dose than alcohol.

NE's husband was one of them. Murph (?) may have been another. If I recall correctly he hadn't smoked pot in years and years but he called it his "first love[?]" and craved it right up until he found indifference via baclofen.

                There were more too.

Oh. And the 10mg pills are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the 20mg pills. Just keep it in mind for the future. It seems like with insurance it might be a wash, but keep it in mind. It'll come in handy later.

So it turns out that Costco cannot order TEVA baclofen... Ugh!

I would rather have the best chance at success and spend more $, so I am having the pharmacy transfer my script to Walgreens.

That is great to know there has been success before me! I knew I wasn't the first to have this specific issue, and I am glad to know that success has been found at lower doses than for alcohol.

As for the 20mg vs. 10 mg pills, I see the 10's are much cheaper at Walgreens. But Dr. L insists that the 20 mg's are better quality. Any opinions on this?? I would love to save money, but like I said before, not at the risk of worse SE's...

Thanks in advance for your guidance!!

I recently switched my main script to Costco. My one for 20mg. I have a second script for 10mg through Walgreens. I use these as my bridge doses for what my insurance won't pay for. This is all good information, as I could maybe save money by buying everything at Costco. The manufacturer information is interesting too. When I filled my script at Costco I didn't think I could ask for a specific manufacturer. I know whoever makes mine is different, the pills are smaller. I'm not having an increase in SEs with whatever it is that I'm taking. It could even be the opposite.

                        Thanks again for the info!

                          Hey Redhead,
Where I live (LA), the only options are Upsh Smith and Northstar, both called out as bad bac in Lo0p's thread. No TEVA. I am checking right now to see if I can get double the amount of the 10mg dosage at Walgreens.

Make sure you speak to the pharmacy manager (not just a technician) , and be sure to tell them that the fillers in those brands make you sick.

Teva might be the default brand for Rite Aid, too. My bottle says Ivax, which is owned by Teva. Sweet!
