I had my first chat with doc Levin today and got my script for baclofen. I'm going to start it tomorrow and I look forward to updating my progress here. I really hope it has the effect on my anxiety that I am looking for, which will stop my addictive behaviour. Wish me luck!

well day 3 of baclofen, and I feel very good so far. Dr. L's titration schedule is a bit drawn out and I have chosen to move up faster than he indicated. He told me only 5 mg for the first week, then to 10 mg the second week I took 5 mg the first day, 30 the second, and now 40 mg today. I have had no SE's at all and I have had a marked reduction in anxiety in just 3 days I am very happy so far and hope the good results continue.

Hey Boosted,
Well done on your decision to give Bac a go. I am sure others will jump in here just to give you a little warning about titrating up too fast! I know we like things to work quickly, especially as alkies, but from what I have read here.....some do have SE;s just floor them at fast tritration.
Anyhow, I am not a baccer but just saying what I have read on these threads over the last 10 months. Good luck on your quest for sobriety, and I sincerely hope it all works out for you. The good Dr L seems to be a "good doctor" so it may be wise to follow his advice. Many don't have access to such, so imho, to respect his advice would be wise counsel.

Boosted - be careful about boosting your dose up too soon.
I started off with 30mg, and didn't feel side effects until later, but it seems clear from my experience and from others on here, that increasing the dose really quickly will lead to side effects. These side effects you may not feel until a few days after you increase the dose.
Be careful, but good luck!

Thank you for the concern friends. I have decided to slow down a bit and just go up about 20 mg a week to be safe.
As many of you know daily drinking is not an issue with me. I have a history of drug addiction and I binge drink in social situations (usually once a week) because this is the only way I can deal with my overwhelming anxiety. Because of this I am looking for a "switch" that will stop me from craving prescription drugs (mostly opiates) and put my anxiety in check.
After 5 days of use (at 40 mg right now) I seriously feel like my life is already changing for the better. I have had less anxiety in the last 3 days than I can remember at any point in time in the last couple of years. I have no fear of social situations right now (which is NOT how I usually am) and I have even been pro social initiating conversations with people.
The amazing thing is I have never had these effects from any other medication, and the ones that have helped some were always sedating, and so far baclofen is not sedating at all for me.
I hope the good results continue!

wow! had people over to the house last night, everyone was drinking, this is where I would usually be very anti social until I have about 5 beers, then continue to drink until I'm sick. I had 3 beers total all night and I felt great, was able to be social all night, and no hangover this morning!

Thanks pete! I am definitly going to tit up to atleast 120/mg day, I am feeling so much better than I did 10 days ago when I started bac. Once I reach this level I will wait to see if this dosage maintained will keep my anxiety at bay, I hope it does.
One highly notable effect baclofen is already having is that even though I am not a daily drinker, I have extreme addiction issues with pain killers and benzos, over the last week I have not taken any pain killers, nor had the desire to do so, and I have only taken .5 mg of xanax a day instead of abusing the shit out of it. This HAS to be from the bac. use, there is no other explination.

Bullshit! Snake oil I say!
Well, the same thing happened to me so, I guess it's possible. I'm still highly suspicious though.
