    Bac and Depression?

Hey all! Hey Ru! Glad to see you!
Wintyr, do not apologize. Even if blood sugar had nothing to do with mood (which it obviously does), your post would've been completely appropriate. This is a place to discuss side effects, and people should know about the possibility of something so dangerous happening.
Yes, alcohol is phisiologically a depressant. But it also (gonna get real scientific here) gives us a rush of good feelings in the short term. After so many years, our poor brains can't create those good feelings on their own. Aside from the depression, I've noticed a gradual deadening of my feelings over the years. Things that should make me happy don't. A beautiful sunset, the birth of my sister's baby, good news about my dad's health. I know they are good things, and I am "happy" that they have happened, but I don't get the rush of joy that I should. That's completely unrelated to bac. I know it make take years of sobriety to repair.
Anyway, I think what we should take from this discussion is that bac affects everyone differently. Our side effects are many and varied. I do think I can say at this point that bac does trigger or worsen depression in some, maybe few, but some people. I did find more posts about people describing this, but they are either no longer around or uninterested in telling their stories at this point. Poking around in (I think) the second thread that TerryK posted a link to had some interesting accounts. In conclusion, I think we should regard unusual and especially severe depression to be a possible, if rare, side effect. For some, like TerryK, is may be dose dependent and disapear after a while. For others, like some accounts I've read, it may be a deal breaker. But let's take from this that if someone is reporting feeling this way, we can let them know that it may be situational, it may be the effect of less alcohol, or maybe, just maybe, it could be bac.
Thanks all for your wonderful insights and contributions!
    Wishing you all well!

All choices made or choice resigned,
And in your face the literal eye
    Trace little of your history,
Nor ever piece the tale entire
Of villages that had to burn
And playgrounds of the will destroyed
Before you could be safe from time
And gather in your brow and air
    The stillness of antiquity."

Dammit. Not happy with that post at all, but no time to rewrite or edit. Please excuse spelling mistakes and my over wordiness.
