    Relief on Ritalin

I can definitely attest to the fact that tolerance to Adderall or Ritalin is possible. I used to have an Rx for it 6 years ago. I definitely abused it though, but after about a year I was able to take 60 mg's and fall asleep. I think Red's (AKA La Roux) suggestion of not taking it when you don't need it is a good idea.

      Relief on Ritalin

      Thanks Red and Slippery.

That seems to gel with what's going on. Zim being at the forefront of this sort of thing, I'm not even sure the other versions are available, but I'll look into it, thanks for the tip. The holiday sounds a good idea - the first couple definitely helped me get through the day.

Before I'd taken Ritalin I would have said it was very abusable - having tried it (and tried to abuse it!), I reckon it's not worth the bother! It certainly doesn't put me in a party mood.

      Good to see you too!

What does Pfister do in this analysis? Is it a blood test or a panel of testing (urine/blood/etc)? And do they give you a diagnosis as part of this or do you have to do follow-up for recommendations for therapy? I'd love to fix whatever is wrong in my head, for sure...

I do have rosacea. I do much on my own to deal with it. Supps, diet, and coconut oil! I get better results on my own than what the dermatologist delivers. I was diagnosed with rosacea very young. I believe I was in my early 20s. Oh, and baclofen is in my arsenal, of course. The nondrinking time bac has given me has contributed to my rosacea going into remission. I also had htn, but this was only when I was drinking copious amounts of booze and not taking care of myself. Lifestyle change with all the above, and nondrinking has made my BP normal (not that everyone can avoid or get off meds from lifestyle change.)

It's a panel of testing, Bruun. They test for all sorts of imbalances...tons! Some of us are deficient in some things and have too much of others. We don't know, since we're taking these supps blindly. If you see them in their outreach clinic it would be blood and urine. They will go over the testing with you, but you'd have to ask how much for follow up and how it works for the outreach clinic. We'll be seen in their main clinic. They see about 10,000 patients a year from all over the world. They claim an 85% success rate with certain problems. This rate is not based on the patient entirely coming of meds, however (and they don't recommend this at first!) Some can reduce their dosage, and some feel so much better they can stop entirely. The goal is to improve quality of life. They'll continue to monitor your response to therapy for as long as you want them to.

My fees in office will be about $795. And it costs $125-175 every hundred days or so, for replacement supps (if you decide to have their pharmacy compound the exact doses of what you need and the cost varies depending on what you do need). I suppose you could order your own supps if you could find a cheaper way to do it, but I think I'll be going through them. They use very high quality supps without fillers. In the case of my son, his supps will come in capsule form, so I can break them open and mix them with yogurt or something else, if they are too hard to swallow.

It might sound expensive, but to me it's worth it. Pfeiffer does not take insurance since they provide 'alternative medicine' and insurance won't reimburse. Some insurance companies may reimburse for the labs, though. It's difficult to find complaints about them. Mostly you just find raves about how much they've helped to improve the quality of life of the patients they treat. I'm giving it a go, but due to cost, it's one of us at a time. My son will go first, he doesn't have bac, and I feel he needs it the most...he's actively trying to learn. And I'm most likely self treating many of my issues already. I'm much more worried about treating a 9 year old with supps blindly. His appt isn't until mid January, but I'll report back on our experiences as they happen.

Good luck, Bleep. I was thinking that in your case, with stimulants, who knows how you'll respond, or what you'll need. Your body has an interesting response to drugs in general. Look at how much baclofen you need! And the fact that you can function on it is incredible. I'm not surprised you have afternoon drowsiness. :H

It doesn't put me in the party mood either, not even close. I was always one of those people who only liked stimulants when I was drinking though. It would allow me to party until the sun came up. :H Geez!

**I've attached a link, Bruun. It is again from a blog, but time only permits me to find certain information quickly for these things. It's a summary from Dr William Walsh (the man who now directs Pfeiffer) and their theories on some problems and the methods they use to correct them. It's indexed by problem, so you could just tap on what you're interested in to save time. Remember this interview was taken in 2002 added to in 2003, so the numbers are far lower than what they've successfully treated now.

          Relief on Ritalin

Wow Red, thanks for the info and sharing your own story - my rosacea is under control except for when I binge I break veins all around my nose. Ugh. I wonder if we have a similar genetic background, we seem to have commonalities for sure. I'll check into it, it sounds worthwhile. Plus my FSA needs to get emptied, soon!
