    Question about BAC

    Hi there,

How long does one have to be on Bac? I'm going to ask my doctor for it as the results seem to be so good but I am just wondering - do I have to be on this medication for life? Or does it like rewire the brain so that after 6 months you go back off? What's the scoop on that?

    Thanks!
Every day is a day to start over and remember that I am powerless over my addiction. I will no longer give the BEAST any power over me - he can go straight to hell.

    Question about BAC

    Hi Universal!
I don't know that anyone has a definitive answer for how long one must take baclofen.

Bac is a long term solution for me. It took about 4 months for me to find indifference. I've been taking it for 13 months. I plan to take it for a while longer. A year? Years? I'm not sure. I don't think it will be that long, but who is to say?

My brain has been so thoroughly, positively, rewired that I'm reluctant to change much.

There is a thread around here from bminor about titrating down. Also, Sunnyvalenting took it for a year and has been completely off of it since then.

Congratulations on your AF time! If cravings are still an issue, I think you'll find that bac really helps.

    Stay strong!

      Question about BAC

I'll gladly stay on baclofen for the rest of my life.

Like Ne has found, it's a really positive force in my life. Even if there was some definitive long-term health risk, and who knows, maybe there is, it would have to be pretty severe for me to chuck it in.

It definitely fills some hole, and strangely, other than boozing ridiculously for no apparent reason, I wasn't even aware the hole was there until it was filled.
