    Naltrexone and Benzo's - Sinclair Method

    Greetings;

    I just read a post on the Sinclair method website regarding Benzo's (Ativan, zanax, lorazepam type drugs) getting in the way of Naltrexone working for alcohol addiction. The fourth response in that thread is from the author of the book The Cure for Alcoholism.

    My question is have any of you used naltrexone and a Benzo's, and what was your result?

    Thank you.

      Here is what the Dr. Stated. Thank you,

      Hi Tori75

      The benzodiazepines will not help you with the Sinclair Method - they will hamper, slow, and weaken your de-addiction or extinction progress. Avoid them if at all possible. There is both scientific research to support this and also clinical cases ....

      Hope that answers your question.

      Best wishes - wishing you well

      Dr Roy

        Yeah I remember about 3 years ago when I was trying the sinclair method, I was also on xanax. I had several conversations with Dr Eskapa by e-mail and once by phone about how Benzo's would hamper the process... He couldn't really explain why. I quit the xanax and it made no difference. The sinclair method was a miserable failure for me.
