    Baclofen dosage timing question

    Hi All,

So ive been titrating up (this is my second go at Bac).

Was just wondering whether some of you who have hit the off switch can help me with something.

Baclofen has a half life of 1.5-4 hours. So it leaves your body pretty quickly. So when reaching the off switch, is it the amount of Bac you have taken in a day or the amount in your body at any given time? Because say your off switch is 180mg and you are taking 60-60-60, you wont have 180mg in your system at one given time during the day. This is just sort of confusing me.

Also, do any of you guys know anyone who reached high doses (like 250+) but never hit the off switch?

    Many thanks

    Baclofen dosage timing question

    Z,
I'm not sure how to answer your first question. If you're asking whether or not you need to manipulate your dosage in order to keep exactly the same amount of bac in your system at all times...Well, I don't know that that's possible, right?
Terryk posted something around here related to bac half-life and how it changes (gets longer) after you've taken it for awhile.
But if you think about it in terms of medication, well you'll see that it's not a magic bullet, right? It levels out brain chemistry (or something to that effect). I think of it as antibiotics or something. I miss doses, I forget to take it at the same times everyday, I have even taken more than what I normally do, and I've gone up and down since reaching indifference. I don't recommend this. For obvious reasons. But I remain relatively the same in terms of how I feel (or rather don't feel) about booze.

I've pretty much maintained indifference for (almost) a year. I went up to 320 or 340mg. I can't remember which and I've written both. I've gone down as low as 100mg (not a good idea) and back up and all around since then (also not a good idea). I'm currently taking 200mg.

Yes, I know of people who have taken more than 250mg and not become indifferent. I also know of a lot of people who reached that point, went down too much or too quickly, and found themselves drunk again. And there are a whole range of us in between.

Glad to hear that it seems to be going well.

Ne describes it perfectly ..if i can add just a bit Z just go with how you feel.... small increments ..dont let the strong desire and frustration that its not working fool you..... it is the wrong thought pattern .....it took me i think 18 months back and forth before one day i just realized .I had ONE day with out a whisper in my mind about taking a drink .its i believe a mental thing as in it eventually stops thoughts of drinking ..its no magic bullet ..I cant help you with the side effects as i experienced none ..but just hold fast with your desire to stop drinking and let baclofen do its bit..while this brain re adjustment is going on put a plan in place to have a life ahead without addiction!!!
the beauty is it brings the possible as a tangible ie you dont have to be a slave anymore
I thought you summed it up really well, Reggie. And it was worth repeating. So I quoted you. and :l

        Ne,

How long between starting and reaching indifference?

Also, how do you send private messages to people?

        Thanks
