      Just one girl's BAC journey

      Welcome aboard!

Hi, Bjghakh. Congrats on hopping aboard the Bac express. I'm at 140 mg after about four months, and in that time, have had pretty much all of my addictions fall away. I still drink some wine -- but as much in a week as I did in a day and a half. And my life is much, much better. My wife was ready to leave me, and now looks like we'll be staying together. (She still drinks a fair amount, and the other night gave me props for not bringing up or pressuring her about her drinking!)

      Two bits of advice:

      1) Call Dr. Levin -- you can find his number on the thread about doctors who prescribe Baclofen. If you can avoid it, don't try to do this on your own without medical help. The benefits of Baclofen can come at a price, and professional help will help lower that price. I assume you're in the US. Whatever you spend on him will be more than made up by how little Baclofen will then cost you.

      2) Take it slow and easy. All of us in our own minds had either hit bottom or were skipping along on it before we discovered Bac and took the plunge. Sounds like you're a bit at the end of your rope, and I was too when I got on the Bac train. But we didn't get into the situations we are or were in overnight, and won't get out either. With perseverance and a bit of luck and a lot of support from your husband and people on this board, you'll get where you want to go in terms of drinking and everything else. Just would suggest going easy on yourself -- the fact that you can already see a bit of a drop in your drinking at this very early stage is a gain that you might treasure. As they say in AA, one day at a time, although it is meant in a different way here.

Here is the titration schedule I got for my first 4 weeks, but like Sunleeca and Fennel said - it's best to contact Dr. L and have him go over it with you. Especially if you are on other meds, he can check to make sure they are safe to be on while taking bac. When I spoke with him, he mentioned insurance, so it sounds like he accepts insurance if you are ok doing it that way. I know some people prefer to keep it off the record and just pay him directly. Anyhow, I posted week one in an earlier post, here's what he recommended I do for weeks 2 - 4. It's a slow ramp up but hopefully will alleviate any side effects or at least reduce them.

        Week 2 - 30 mg, 10mg 3 times a day (wake, 1pm, 3 hours prior to bed)
        Week 3 - 50 mg, 20mg at wake, 10mg at 1pm, 20mg 3 hrs prior to bed
        Week 4 - 70 mg, 25mg at wake, 20mg at 1pm, 25mg 3 hours prior to bed

Please don't go at it too fast, I'm sure the side effects will be horrible. I want to get out of this battle I fight w/myself too, but slow and steady wins the race!

Keep us posted how you are!
