Through a Glass Darkly (improving clarity about how meds work in addiction)
The article talks about how different drugs address different facets of addiction. Every anti-addiction drug I can think of is addressed. I don't think the article is entirely correct, but I thought it was interesting.

Thanks, Ginger, for posting this article.
It seems there is so much promise in psychopharmacology, but so little progress...At least Drs Chick and Nutt seem to be trying...With profound appreciation to Dr Olivier Ameisen for his brilliant insight and courageous determination

Thanks, Cassander. I appreciate them trying to come up with the lingo to use for it all, but I'd bicker a bit with the "replacement" category for baclofen. That doesn't seem quite right. I'd be more tempted to categorize it as an adjunct med, like anti-anxiety or anti-depressants. Also the "aversion" category for antabuse isn't right. For that to be true, the "therapy" would have to involve aversive stimulus like what Schick Shadel has done for years. If a person does not drink on antabuse, then it is a deterent, which seems like a different category to me.
Still, I appreciate them trying to get a handle on the language to use for it all. I thought it was interesting that TSM got a nod over naltrexone every day too.Ginger
