    AVAILABILITY OF TOPIRAMATE IN AUSTRALIA

    :bump: :bump: Hi Tahlula

The medicine still hasn't arrived. I consider that if it had've gone through customs and was confiscated, I would at least get notified. Maybe it is still on the way, I don't know, but I am really disappointed at this stage. A very expensive exercise if it doesn't arrive and at a time when I can least afford it!

So on the weekend I started the hypno program, and have abstained since Saturday. Today being day 3. The hypno is great though, quite powerful. I started the supplements today. By tonight I really felt like a civilised glass of wine, so I came back to the office and started some work.

I had a chat with the (specialist gasteroenterologist) doctor today who said he would give me Campral, and he explained that in this country to actually give me Topirimate without it being licensed to be used for alcohol moderation in patients requires submissions and other procedures which are really difficult.

I will keep you posted on how the Campral goes. I pick it up tomorrow. Hopefully I won't have cravings tomorrow night!

            the Topirimate arrived!

            :wd:

            Hi Tahlula

Amazing as it is...Today I picked up the Campral from my local chemist, around $30, then came back to find a note in the letter box saying that there was a parcel at the post office. I picked up the parcel and there it was! Total time taken from order to receipt of goods in Sydney, 14 days. The parcel had been opened by customs, but passed inspection.

I have decided to start the Topirimate rather than the Campral at this stage. Have had the first dose this arvo, have abstained for 4 days now.

I went to the gym today, having signed up at Curves a few weeks ago. You know, I just POWERED through the workout, I felt REALLY GOOD. Maybe it is because the alcohol is getting out of my system.

Anyway, there it is. The specialist did mention Naltrexone, but said that his preference was Campral. He said the Campral was popular a few years ago, and he saw some good results with it, he didn't understand why it hadn't really taken off. He also didn't understand why the Topirimate wasn't approved here for alcohol treatment. He agreed that the article in the Lancet was high quality research.

Tahlula what stage are you at?

Hi Coss, I decided to PM you.

I have been coming here for about a month or so after facing the fact that I really do have to get something done, or rather, do something about this! I went to the Dr and explained that I was drinking too much, and she referred me to a psych. Great! First avail apnt is at the end of (wait for it)............ j u l y!!! LOL Get real! I asked the GP re campral etc but she wanted the psych to prescribe the meds.... so where to from here, maybe I should head back to the GP and say listen here love, this is the story!!!

Anyway, she suggested to me to moderate because I would probably have too many withdrawals???? So, I am still drinking a bottle of wine a nite! I have not moderated yet!! Apparently the revia (sp) works so well with the cravings.... I just love it when it hits 5pm, and I can get in the kitchen, start dinner & have a few glasses to relax & unwind!! Can you relate?

One little question from you & a long winded answer from me!!

I'm glad that you are feeling great - good on you! I'm taking supps, I always have done, ordered the kudzo as well - that knocks me for a six, so only take it at nite, with my wine - LOL!! I'm maintaining a sense of humour with all of this, because if you get too serious it's all too hard! I'm also exercising every day, just need to 'kick the bottle in the ar**'!

Take care Let me know how the meds go for you.

You have given me hope Cossie.
Am new to the site - am new to the idea of taking medication.
But you have successfully ordered it online.
I am always hesitant about ordering such things as medication online - is it the real thing?
What dose did you start off on?

                Thanks

                  AVAILABILITY OF TOPIRAMATE IN AUSTRALIA

                  Hi Charlie Girl,
Welcome to my way out. Have you read the book and thought about the supplements and CD's too. There is a dosing schedule in the book CLICK HERE TO ORDER!
for topamirate, but basically you start at 25mg a day and titrate up each week untill you find a dose that works for you, without going above 300mg a day. The book also talks about side effects and supplements that can help deal with them.
I think meds online are the real thing. The companies couldn't keep going otherwise. Here is the link to aclepsa, they aren't the only place that does topa but they are cheap and reliable. Buy Generic Topamax (Topiramate) Online :: Aclepsa.com
Let us know how you are getting on.

                    AVAILABILITY OF TOPIRAMATE IN AUSTRALIA

                    Hi Goingsobermum,

                    Excited is an understatement.
I have started reading the book - ordered the pills & CD and it is quite weird as I feel the so positive and confident that I can beat this demon!
For the first time I KNOW I WILL KICK THIS BUGGER!
I have spent hours pouring over the forum and reading eveyones stories.
While reading each one, thinking to myself - that's me - that's me - oh my golly - there are others enduring the same private hell I am.
Where have you all been for these past years?
Whilst I have only posted 2 messages, and haven't really spoken to any of you - I feel like I have found a long lost family.
Don't get me wrong my family have been very supportive in my struggle - however they do not totally appreciate what I am going thru.
When I get the urge or am feeling like I need a drink - I find myself thinking of MWO.
I have only encountered one problem - I was so engrossed in the book last night - I could not put it down. So now it is Monday morning and I am way too tired to be at work.
But for once it is a Monday morning tiredness that I am excited about.
Once again - to all of you who I have not met - Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
