I'm back from Mexico/Alternative medicine treatment

BBC News - Can a hallucinogen from Africa cure addiction?

Amazing, unbelievably healing experience. I'll try to answer specific questions if anyone is curious

How expensive was it and how long have you been AF now?

Umm, details please. Lots of them. What was it like? What did you learn? When you say "healing," I gather you mean in a spiritual way? Did you have hallucinations that you remember, or questions running through your head, or . . . ? Were you ill at any point? How long did it take? Did you do anything to prepare for the Ibo treatment? Were you scared at any point? I just want to know EVERYTHING.

Anne, I'm so happy for you! :l Ibo is still on my list of things I want to do for myself.

Edited to add: Is this your first time doing it? If you had no other choice, would you try it in a "do-it-yourself" situation, with a trustworthy sitter, if you had a trustworthy source for info (a person connected to some we've talked about privately offered to counsel us [me and sitter] through it) and a trustworthy source for Ibo"? :l:l:l

Edited to also add: What kind of compound did you use? Powder? Root? Combo?
      Ginger

        Everything Ginger asked.
"Yet someday this will have an end
All choices made or choice resigned,
And in your face the literal eye
        Trace little of your history,
Nor ever piece the tale entire
Of villages that had to burn
And playgrounds of the will destroyed
Before you could be safe from time
And gather in your brow and air
        The stillness of antiquity."

Anne, congrats, same folks you did it with before? Would love to know details about the entire trip (physical and otherwise).

              OK, here goes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR9P7ksKktM[/video]]Iboga Treatment | JOE ROGAN talks about IBOGA TRIP!!! - YouTube (26 minutes)

This is a good link, this guy is very articulate about the experience, and his was quite similar to mine.
Cost: well, this is a hard one. I paid very little- I did my research, and anyone truly 'called' or seeking will find a way. Let me say, though, it was far from ideal circumstances. But I survived it.
I've been AF and more importantly for me, pill free since March 22. The pill seeking was what did me in, although I will say- without alcohol the pills fall away. This was made very clear to me.
What was it like? Gosh, Ginger...I'd have to write 20 pages. It gave me the lessons I needed.
Yes, second time. Different people, place, situation. The first time was quite gentle. This time it was not. But it gives you the experience you need, and I needed hard this time.
I did not have any nausea. I had tremendous heart pounding and a lot of audibles...at the end of the above link he talks about being in another 'vibration,' that's what I felt. Your body just goes in to another dimension. They say that's what heals physically- disease can't live in that state. It seemed to me that it needs this high degree of 'fuel' from the heart to do its thing.
I'd liken it to this- we say spinach is 'good' for us, or that Milk Thistle cleans the liver. Well, how does it know to do that? Does it have an intelligence? Ibo seems to me to be a plant wisdom that goes directly to your frontal cortex...and scrubs it clean in high doses.

Oh, sorry. You asked specific quesitons

OK, re: hallucinations. Ibo is not a hallucinagenic. At all. It is an oneirophrenic. The visions are not like dreams, which skitter away...they are direct experiences that I remember as clearly as any other I've had. There is no worry that you will 'lose' them- believe me, you will remember for the rest of your life. Yes, you can prepare questions and they will be answered. In my first treatment there were a lot of picture stories- little 'films' and stills and metaphoric presentations. This time there was a guy talking and yelling at me as clearly as a friend sitting across from a table. I, like the guy in the above link, also had (both times) the computer screen with a cursor that I could direct...for example, there was a series of still pictures of family members. I could point to each person at a time and get flood of information about each one. And go back and forth as needed, with any question.
It lasted about 14 hours. And then I felt superhuman for the next 2 days..still do, actually. I really feel like I've been given another chance at life. So many fears are gone (fear being the basis of addiction and other self defeating behaviors).
I didn't feel 'ill' at any time, just aware and slightly afraid of my pounding heart. I was given twice the dose as last time (I attribute this to the dissolving of the fear that I didn't quite get the first time) But I was 'told' that the heart had to work to make the medicine effective. Was I scared? Not of the visions, although I had horrific ones. I was given what I needed. You get and respect that immediately. You just hang on.
How did I prepare? Was off alcohol and pills for one week prior (if you can't do this then you are probably not able to respect the enormity of the experience...hard to explain). Liver cleansed, fasted a day then small protein meal 6 hours ahead. But leave this stuff to your provider. As far as doing it "yourself' or in the States I would advise against it. I went to a few doctors down there and they all condone and support the usage there. I would not want to go in to trauma anywhere it's not understood/illegal. Sorry this is rambling, trying to address each issue. Let me know what else anyone is curious about...
