    Baclofen

    Hi,
    Haven't posted since 2008! But I'm Back!!!
I read somewhere on this thread a post that someone from Milwaukee, WI had a Doctor that was willing to prescribe Baclofen. Mine won't. So I'm hoping someone out there could give me a name in this area. I've tried just about every drug on the market with 0 success.
Have read Dr. Ameisen book and would like to give Bac a go. THANKS!!

    Hi rodewarrior!
Have you seen the website baclofen4alcoholism.com? Check it out. Its a website and alcohol dependency program developed by a doctor and he reccomends a website that provides baclofen without a prescription. I just ordered it. I am so excited and have high hopes that this will finally be the solution I've been praying for.

Hey I appreciate the Info "Looking UP'. I ordered the book as well as the scrip. Since I've tried Campral, Naltrexone, Topamax, Anabus & a few others with 0 success Like you I'm praying this is the "Holy Grail". I'm perfectly willing to put up with a few side effects if it works!
          For "Thatgirl26" the cost is $52 (US) for 200 10mg pills. $95 for 400 & $27 for 100.
Shipping is free. And I believe I got a 5% discount to boot. Not bad.....

River is $72 for 200 tabs 25mg plus shipping which is like $25. If you order more the shipping goes down or away. I would say if you want to do the program order a lot so you don't pay shipping and you don't worry about running out. I have ordered like 600 at a time no problem. They are in blister packs and they are the real deal at River. I have had zero problems so far with them. I think I have even seen ads on these pages for them. Just make sure you have a lot on hand if you do this and stick with it. I still fight with my pharmacy about getting my scrip right so I order from them to keep me covered.

Oh and those 25mg tabs are scored so you can split them easy. You really want a pill cutter as you may not want to move up 25 mg per week. I would suggest the 12.5mg per week.

Sorry space. Guess I missed that rule. Funny it was ok to post about that other site (baclofen4alcoholism.com) that sells the product and services. The one I mentioned has ads on this site. Not promoting it just one that has worked for me and trying to help someone out for gosh sake.

COS, she was addressing Lookingup, not you.
"Yet someday this will have an end
All choices made or choice resigned,
And in your face the literal eye
                    Trace little of your history,
Nor ever piece the tale entire
Of villages that had to burn
And playgrounds of the will destroyed
Before you could be safe from time
And gather in your brow and air
                    The stillness of antiquity."

Thanks again. Most everyone on here is a helpful contributor. Not sure where these trolls come from. I would think there would be more fun places to mess around like that.

Hi rodewarrior, and welcome back. Dr. A's book lit a fire for me, too. Baclofen was my way out, for sure. I'm so far removed from what it was like to drink against my will that I can't remember it. At all. I hope the same holds true for you!

I think that's about what I pay for baclofen from a U.S. pharmacy when I pay out of pocket and don't use my insurance! Nice job! And thanks for the info. I'll pass it on. (I hope you're ordering more than 200 ten milligram pills! That'll go quick if you are planning on titrating up!) Which reminds me: Will you let us know how long it takes for shipping? That's an important factor for people ordering from overseas.

Hi, Kittykat. I understand your fear. It can certainly be scary to try something new, particularly if you are already struggling. And goodness knows, not drinking is really difficult in the beginning.
There are plenty of side effects and scary things to choose from if you read around here enough. No doubt about that! I hope you'll hang in there and take it all in so you can decide what's best for you. I will be eternally grateful that I went through the process of taking baclofen all the way up to indifference. Unlike all the other approaches and times I got sober, or tried to get sober, when I stopped drinking with baclofen, I stopped craving and I stopped being miserable about not drinking. In fact, I pretty much stopped being miserable! Yay!

Hang in there, sister. Whatever you decide, being sober gets easier and it is INFINITELY better than the alternative. :l
