Totally new to forum, sort of new to bac

I forgot to mention, because I just forgot, that it brings 'em all out of the woodwork. I'm going to sit this one out, Stuck. I apologize publicly for that. I just don't care enough anymore, and I don't have time.

    The Goal.

      Ne: I wish you well.

Desp: Stop it. Obviously there is no scientific evidence that HDB works, just like AA. False hope is better than no hope.

I hear ya'. But I still thank you for jumping in right when you did. I'm pretty overjoyed and fiesty with the AF days, and did start to forget the goal. Which is not only to help each other but also to offer hope for those still looking for help.

You're absolutely right. And Space, Taw, Windy, and everyone is doing their own thing right now, so I might just have to sit out of even my own thread for a minute. I'm going back to preparing for work, maybe go to the gym. Or whatever else one does when pretty much effortlessly sober.

I wish everyone the very best.

I don't want to edit posts right now, but man I can't stand grammar errors. The above post should read "...and everyone ARE doing their own thing..."

Hey Stuckiin-la: I see your thread has gone (at least temporarily) the way of some others that have actually saved lives before being sucked into a mire. I've avoided participating here . . . and anywhere, for the most part . . . due to the re-occurring episodes of duplicitous drivel that keep appearing whenever a member moves seriously into the same HDB protocol that saved my life. There ARE knowledgeable and experienced members who watch the board, just IN CASE anyone honestly and earnestly wants help with baclofen. As you can see, here on your own thread and just one or two others, for the most part we have withdrawn. I think Ne is being beyond kind to offer her apology for no longer efforting to beat back those whose agendas' are something other than helping people get free from the desperate, life-sucking burden of alcoholism.

So for you, and anyone reading now, or sometime in the future, I'll just add my own "trollish" $.02 BACLOFEN WORKS!!! Not for everybody. I've been around long enough to know that. But for enough people that it's definitely worth researching and then trying.

Thanks, Stuckin-la, for letting me hi-jack your thread for this comment. Now, back to regular programming.

P.S. This kinda' just seems WRONG for me to say, but "everyone" is a singular, collective pronoun. It actually does require a singular verb. You were right the first time.

Anything works. But not for everyone.

Vitamin C + selinium + beer works! But not for everyone.

For anyone with an average IQ, the claims are ridiculous.

Thanks Red! No worries about hijacking. But my issue was that because it was "Space, Taw, Windy, and everyone..."

Huh... that's weird because "and everyone else" would be "is..."

So the 1st 3 get subsumed into the collective "everyone?" Yeah, I guess you are right.

You don't necessarily need to know grammar to be an honors student. Ya' know?

Bill F. There is quite a bit of scientific evidence that shows that high dose baclofen is highly effective in curbing the desire to drink. The studies are small. They are largely inconsequential. But they are adding to the body of evidence that will prove that for some of us it is extremely effective.

Why it is that you show up whenever there seems to be an opportunity from someone who is clearly posting irrationally in order to continue to harass us about the ineffectiveness of a medication that has clearly worked for some of us?

                  You offer no solutions.
                  You offer no hope.
                  You offer no support.

You have never once participated in a discussion unrelated to the fact that you believe that baclofen is not just unsubstantiated, but is in fact a fool's solution.

Your assumptions are not just misleading, they're factually incorrect.

I cannot, for the life of me, see how you have anything to gain from this.

                  What is your purpose?

I am going to set about flagging every single one of the posts. I hope others will join me. It is about time that someone paid attention to this situation.

                    This is absolutely absurd.

In all honesty, I had not read the entire sentence; and therefore, had not considered the additive factors of "Space, Taw, Windy." It would take excessive Goggling (intentional misspelling ) to know with certainty, but I do think your last analysis is correct: the 1st 3 get subsumed into the collective. Sounds bizarrely familiar, non? :H

                        I changed my mind, btw.

The fact that we are subjected to this, that I can be routinely attacked for months by a drunken troll, is absolutely, well, wrong. And I don't like wrong. It makes me very...determined.

Back for more in the morning. Please flag the damn posts. The moderators need to be paying more and better attention.

Red, it's nice to have a healthy debate, by the end of which we both might just agree to disagree, or both realize neither of us knows for sure. Thank you for that.

NE, I too am flagging posts on this thread.

Bill F, a researched and nuanced debate on the efficacy of HDB would be welcome, on this thread and others. However, statements such as

And BillF, I'll see you're IQ, and up it considerably, I'm quite certain.

Fortunately, IQ has nothing in the world to do with the efficacy of baclofen to quell the craving to drink alcohol against one's will. There are several kinds of knowledge. One way of "knowing" is what we hear from others. Another way is what we determine through our own thought processes. Anyone with an average IQ can see that both of these means are fraught with possibilities for error. Direct experience is irrefutable. I don't need my high IQ, nor studies, nor anyone else's opinion. (OMG, I am laughing out loud now!) My knowledge about baclofen comes from my direct experience.

Now, proceed to disparage my intelligence, question my morality, make personal attacks, or whatever floats your boat. You cannot, however, undermine my direct experience. Not "may not," as in, I don't give you permission. "Can not," as in, it is not possible.
