    What's the fastest you can go down on Bac?

    Hi All.
    I slowing down on my dosing and slowly. I was at 260 and I had crippling SE's. I am at 230 now going down 10mg about every 4 days. I am still in really bad shape so I am wondering what I can get away with on dropping down quicker?
    Benzos seem to have zero effect on me with my SE's. I am really losing it.

    People reduce the dose slowly so that they don't start binging again. If you are worried about baclofen withdrawal, you could safely reduce dose much faster than you are. I would not be afraid of a 40 mg drop in one day. In fact, I dropped at least 60 in one day (I was only at 160) and there were no ill effects.

      wow, i think i might drop some more then. i heard that you can get SE's when you are dropping too. that would explain why i am feeling so rotten.

        Interestingly i have heard that phenibut affects the same gaba b receptors as bac. sounds like some people use it like bac.

          Dude. Things do not sound like they were not-so-good in COS-land yesterday. How's today so far? Did you get any sleep?

          I have dropped dramatically before without repercussion. But I have also suffered from doing just that. And I've seen others suffer, or not, too. I think it depends a lot on the starting point...

            COS! DO NOT DROP BY A HUGE AMOUNT!!! Some people may be able to, but I had a fucking nervous breakdown. You're either able to or you're not, but it would be a helluva way to find out that you're not. I was at 225mg. I was dropping by, I think, 25mg every 2-3 days. My anxiety skyrocketed, day to day life was nearly impossible. I ended up in Urgent Care. I contacted Dr. L, who told me I'd gone too fast. I temporarily went back up by 25 mg or so, waited there for a week, then continued to go down by 25 every 5-7 days. It took WEEKS for me to feel close to normal again.

              I am not going to. I am at 230 and feeling better today after eating a xanax about every 4 hours yesterday with a quarter dose of seroquel at night. Got about 5 hours of sleep which is great.
              Feeling much better. Only had 1 drink yesterday and I really did not want it. Was just scared to go with zero since I had an issue a year ago with dropping too fast. Guess it would not have mattered with all that xanax in me. It's early here still but I can't even imagine wanting a drink today. But I've been fooled before thinking I was at a switch so we shall see.
              So today is good. I am at 230 and I will see how I do with that for a while.

                  How much xanax in mgs? Please be careful, COS. People build a tolerance to xanax very quickly, and rebound anxiety can happen too. I'm glad you are feeling better! Just please be careful with xanax.

                    I ended up doing about 1.25 mgs so nothing crazy. I looked into it. Benzos don't work well with Bac because with high doses the Gaba B overrides that whole Gaba A effect. I have not had any today and I am fine. I think I am somewhat immune to the effects of those benzos at this 230 dose of Bac.
                    Talked to Ne today and I think I am going to break my dosing into 4x day. But I am good today. AF for a change and only one yesterday and that was just because I was scared to go to zero.

                      OK. When you said "every four hours," it looked like something to be concerned about. I didn't know that baclofen doesn't work well with benzos. It's been kind of the "go to" med for SE's.

                      Anyway, I'm glad that you are feeling fine.

                        Very glad to hear you are doing better. Funny how worried we get about people we will never meet and who perhaps don't even exist! Am truly relieved.

                            Is Dr L changing? I mean...a couple of years ago he was a Saint. An amazing man doing more for us drunks than anyone else in America. Not for profit but to save lives. At least it seems that way reading old posts.

                            Now? Not sure what is going on (haven't had any dealings with him) but much more negatives in the posts.

                            If I do go HDB I have planned to call him. Your experience causes me some doubt. Will have to wait and see.

                            BUT: Congrats on some AF time. Too cool.

                              I'll let COS share his own experience, of course.
                              I love the man and think he's a saint. But I stopped listening to his advice about baclofen more than a year ago when he told me that the SEs I was suffering from were not related to baclofen. I get legal, cheap prescriptions from him. For that, I owe him a HUGE debt. But the SE denial, coupled with what I think is a dangerous insistence that we stay at the switch dose (he's the only doctor in the world who says this, including the doc he references so much) make me wary of his protocol.

                              Call him at night, at home, as he originally requested and is his preference. That makes a difference.
