    Bac for other addictions

Bac has worked wonders for me with alcohol, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with it reducing non-chemical related addictions? I have a family member whose gambling is starting to get excessive and almost want to suggest trying bac. I know Ameisen noticed he didn't buy CDs and theorized that bac eliminated that shopping compulsion, but I also know a lot of MWO people have started smoking MORE cigarettes. i wouldn't want the effect of adding bac to make gambling worse. Just curious.

Have not heard anything about it. If the addiction is bad enough perhaps a very low dose to start?
I'd hate to push a med that has not investigated for this use but it does off some anti anxiety properties.

It is a very strong "anxiolitic" so it may work for a number of anxiety related illnesses particularly compulsive disorders. The way it works is to calm the limbic systems, the involuntary response center of the brain which drives compulsive behavior. I don't know if there have been any studies on other addictions of a non chemical nature but, in theory, it may work.

In addiction, suppression of symptoms should suppress the disease altogether since addiction is, as he observed, a "symptom-driven disease". Of all "anticraving medications used in animals, only one - baclofen - has the unique property of suppressing the motivation to consume cocaine, heroin, alcohol, nicotine and d-amphetamine"
