    Baclofen and work

    Hi all

I'm buying my baclofen online...is working well enough, am on 100mg a day and rising...haven't had a drink for almost 8 years through AA but AA had ceased to reduce anxiety....it only promises freedom from active alcoholism....

Anyway I've decided to go legit and get a baclofen script from a sympathetic doc in Edinburgh. However I'm starting a new job in a month and they'll want a medical declaration. Has anyone had any experience with this? If I'm on 100mg a day for 'alcoholism' I may not be seen as an ideal candidate. Can it be worded in any other way? Could I say muscle spasms?

    Absolutely. Muscle spasms it is.

And Z, when you get a moment, could you post your story about baclofen. Just whatever it is. I, too, was sober with AA for a good long while, but my only relapse was epic, and the only thing that worked was baclofen. It would be immensely helpful to know how it's gone/is going for you. All the best!!

      Hey Z!

If muscle spasms is too vaugue, and you don't mind being embarassed...
I struggled with a very painful condition for years before taking bac. I was pleasantly surprised when it almost disapeared when I started bac. Did some research, and, yes, it's prescribed for my condition. It's called levator ani syndrome. The only hesitation you may have in declaring this is that it's painful muscle spams in your rectum. Don't know if that'd get you some funny looks around your new office or if it's completely confidential. Either way, best of luck to you, and do let us know how everything goes!
"Yet someday this will have an end
All choices made or choice resigned,
And in your face the literal eye
      Trace little of your history,
Nor ever piece the tale entire
Of villages that had to burn
And playgrounds of the will destroyed
Before you could be safe from time
And gather in your brow and air
      The stillness of antiquity."

Yeah, I'd say do a tad bit of online research and find out about a leg twitch or something. Or even a petite mal seizure disorder... Just enough so that if anyone asks questions you'll know enough to fire back--and then tell them it's your medical info and it's private.

Of course, if the spasms are in your rectum I bet no one will ask any more questions. Ever.

Most medical forms usually just ask what medication you are on and what for, so I think if you just put Baclofen - Muscle spasm then that would be all that was needed.

Yep. What they said. I'd go with Windy's suggestion--it's personal enough that no one is ever going to ask you about it. Like, "Hey! How's the ol' rectum?" I'm definitely going to use that one should it ever come up!

Good luck with the new job! That's very exciting!
