Hi keen:
I don't have any Meds advice but I do know there is a meds thread here...sorry I don't know how to link.
You've found a great supportive group here. I know you will be safe and supported,

I have literally only minutes.
How long we're you on bac prior to 2 weeks at 300? What was your titration schedule? Why were you on bac and at 300 in the 1st place?
Benzos are completely useless in treating bac withdrawal. Withdrawal often takes several days to set in, and the only recourse is more bac. Therefore, if you are experiencing withdrawal you should take something close to what you have been taking. Then reduce slowly, like 20 mg a week.
I do have to say that your story is alarming, but mostly because I don't know why you were that high to begin with. How were you taking it? What was your dose schedule throughout the day?
Moral of the story: bac withdrawal is no joke. It presents like benzo withdrawal or alcohol withdrawal. The only solution is more bac, taken as regular doses throughout the day.
Please do NOT take any of this as advice. I am NOT a medical professional. If you do not experience horrible anxiety, seizures, etc, you might want to consider laying off bac for a while. Doesn't sound like you were taking it in a controlled fashion anyway. More details would help clear this up.
Take care of yourself.

Hi keen, you dont say how long you where on bac, I take it you didnt get it off a doc because if you did you could then ask them. I also dont know what you should do, it if where me I would take some bac and regular times and reduce over a time, but I have to say Ive never been on high dose bac and never overdosed either but there have been a couple of other people on here who have. Sorry I cant find the threads they are on, maybe someone else knows so you could see what they did.
Do you have a medical hotline you can ring where you live, or maybe talk to a pharmasist.
I hope you are ok, please get back to us to let us know how you are.

You can't stop taking bac, whatever you do.
Whatever you do, do NOT stop taking bac.
I think I suffered from both a slow bac od and then withdrawal from titrating down too quickly.
I am still not recovered. Doc has me on valium to ease the anxiety but I'm still taking the bac--down to 140 mg now.
Anyone on here know how long this anxiety from going up too high and then perhaps down to radically lasts?Indifference 350 on 9/20/11. Titrated down to 180 got the cravings. Titrated back up to mid-300's and all Hades broke loose. Hope to get better.

Hi guys, got up to 300mg in 5 weeks (properly to fast but I wanted the switch and I enjoyed the feeling it gave me and no se's), this past 2 week before the er I have been staying study of my dose of 300mg and there still was no switch but I was still waiting it out at that dose. On Sunday I accidentally over dosed by taking 400mg instead of my 300mg and my mother find me twitching and drooling on the floor. My mommy got pissed off and throw out all my bac! Took me to the ER. Where I spent 2 days on benzos. It was awful! I guess they had to restrain me and put a tube down my throat. Glad I don't remember most of it.
I did find a secret stash with only 300mg.
I want to know if I can go down to zero safely without any harmful effects with that little bac. Today I did 50mg and that made me feel a whole lot better but the biggest problem I am having is feeling so damn tired and not able to sleep and a little confused. I'm thinking that will go away with time but I'm fearing bigger withdrawals in the future. How long will this last? Just days?
Thanks for the help

Hey Keen,
I don't know much about dropping quickly, honestly. 6 days at 50 then 0? Um, maybe. Plus you're on what, 7 weeks total? I seriously do not know. I do know that stopping suddenly is NOT good. Maybe figure a way to taper more? Like two days at 50, then try to lower it and stretch it out? But your best bet is to find more bac.
An option you might really consider is calling Dr L. Are you in the US?

Hello Keen,
You are definitely not over the withdrawal period. As Stuck has suggested, you are just entering it. I've thought about how much bac you have, and what I would do if I were in your shoes. If I could possibly taper with only having 300 mg. I guess I could try if forced to do so, but again, as Stuck has mentioned, I would call Dr L. Ask him for a script. I don't think I'd want to try to taper as fast you will need to. You might get past any withdrawal that would include seizures or anything major, but you'll likely experience some anxiety. When I went down much slower than you would need to, from 220 to 140, I had severe anxiety. It lasted for a couple of weeks. I thought I was going crazy. So please call the doc tomorrow and let us know how it works out. This Princess Saved Herself

Oh, and the other thing you asked about the benzos and bac withdrawal. You need bac to prevent bac withdrawal. But I believe if you had to do a quick taper, benzos may help to bridge the gap. In other words, if you were left without the doses to come off bac properly with a good titration down, but you had enough to prevent anything major, a benzo might help to control the anxiety. That's not anything that's been published, or medical advice, it's just been my personal experience. And it's less than ideal than to properly and slowly titrate off. The bottom line in your case is, you should get a script and talk to a doc who understands HDB.This Princess Saved Herself

Saturday night I took 400mg, Sunday none and Monday 50mg and I don't feel a whole lot of withdrawal at all yet and that is 3 days from the reduction. Last night I slept really good from all that er shit I did. I did wake up twice with violent dreams but I fell right back to sleep. I guess I didn't take bac long enough to get bad withdrawals (I hope). I checked and I started July 14th (38 days ago). Maybe I'll try 50mg today if I get any anxiety. Next time I start bac, I am definitely getting a prescription, I'll feel a lot more safer that way. I read somewhere withdrawals usually occur 1-3 days. Is that correct?
Thanks for the help!
