Of course it was a joke, Colin.

    Hi, Kuya. Have we met?
I have to admit that your post is a bit thought provoking.

    Hope you're both well.
    Cheers.

Hi Ne .... I often read your posts and follow Colin from time time as I find his dry humour hilarious.
What I meant is misunderstandings are fascinating to watch ..... All disagreement is ego

Beautiful riposte Kuya. I especially enjoyed "so there!" with its suggestion of a pair of bickering schoolgirls.

Your round Kuya. Anything to say Ne or was this the knockout punch?

              January 1 - February 8

Jan 1 - Jan 25: Increased from 125 mg per day to 200 mg per day in steps of 12.5 every 4/5 days. Daytime somnolence was increasingly annoying. Usually slept well and woke alert but became increasingly pissed off with the soporific malaise arriving with the first pills.

Jan 26 - Feb 2: Stayed at 200 mg hoping that my mood would improve. I also experienced a generally depressed mood due to the way the somnolence was destroying any ambition. On occasions when I took 75 mg as the last dose, after deliberately reducing the prior dose, I experienced the return of foot cramps at night and even when the cramp had died down sleep was often difficult.

Feb 3 - Feb 5: Gave up with the increase and dropped quickly back to 150 mg spread as 50, 25, 25, 50 with the last dose immediately before bed.

Feb 6 - Feb 8: Constant 150 mg and much better all round. I might just stay at 150 mg for a long time.

Recently I've noticed a very positive side effect of baclofen - it doesn't matter how hard people try to irritate me, they can't ruffle my feathers.

                Hi Colin

I realise now I have actually read some of your thread and the jokes, just not the last post. Hope you are doing OK, but I expect you are at 150. I liked the feather ruffling analogy. At around 100 and only briefly, hubby thought I seemed a lot less anxious and thought more outside the square. The person I could be without the monkey on my shoulder perhaps. Expect that it's still on my shoulder at 190. Sigh. Onwards and upwards.

You have a great day. And I don't mean that in the sense of the shop assistants saying it in the US! They said it back in the US when I flew in the 80's (trolley dolly/flight attendant) but of course they say it now downunder too, just not with that accent. Are you English but living in Holland?

                Cheers

Oh bugger - i edited but logged out and when i logged back in it was unedited. That doesn't usually happen. Anyway it was a long winded thing about soccer. I found your favourite team and obviously where you grew up. My youngest wants to be the first Kiwi to play for Manchester United and he is heading down the right track. Hopefully by working hard at school, applying for a scholarship to a US Uni and thereby saving hubby & I a fortune in Uni fees! His ex-All White coach says he has the potential to get there. Not necessarily to Man U but to the States. Working hard(ish) at school just might help in the quite possible event of an injury or if he doesn't stay in the top team for his age at his club.

                  Cheers

                    Colin, how's it going?

Just wanted to report, I've been taking GNC Mega Men? Sport multivitamin with 50mg of Thiamin since Jan 30. My pains in muscles and joints have gone away. Thiamine deficiency?

                    Cheers!

If your pains are coming from damaged nerves a vitamin deficiency might have been the cause of the nerve damage. Adding more vitamins after the damage was done is unlikely to repair the original damage so quickly but who am I to say. Just sayin'.

Watch out for too much B6. From wikipedia:-

Underlying conditions causing polyneuritis (affecting multiple nerves):
                      Beriberi (vitamin B1 deficiency)
                      Vitamin B12 deficiency
                      Vitamin B6 excess

Maybe a doctor will give you a better answer.

                        February 9 - 22

From Feb 11 onwards baclofen has been stable at 150 mg, (4 x 37.5). Sleeping very well and not too dozy during the daytime.

From 15 Feb I started gabapentin at 2 x 300 mg for the nerve damage. So far it has not altered the serious pain occurring every time I put any real stress on the leg muscles but I was told not to expect any changes for the first 2/3 weeks.

For the last several years I have regularly suffered from foot cramps at night. During the last teetotal ten months with a lot of serious exercise these cramps have become much less of a problem but they haven't disappeared completely. Since starting gabapentin the foot cramps have disappeared! Maybe this shouldn't be a surprise because gabapentin was originally used to treat epilepsy, another form of uncontrolled muscular activity.

                        EDIT: Next physical post:

                          February 23 - March 8

Baclofen has been stable at 150 mg since 11 February. At the beginning of this week the somnolence was very minor so I added 12.5 to the first dose of the day. After a couple of days of excessive somnolence I cut the increase down to 5 mg and the somnolence became perfectly acceptable.
At some point in the near future I'll be testing whether I've reached the controlling dose by sinking a few beers and/or whiskys. I want to try alcohol when everything is running just fine and now seems like as good a time as any. Just remembered that April Fool's Day five years ago was when I was operated on for mouth cancer so April 1 will be the day. About a year ago I also went into a clinic where I started baclofen so all the signs are pointing in the same direction.

Gabapentin has been 2 x 300mg per day since February 15. I have noticed small pain reductions since February 27 and today's change was a treadmill increase from six to seven minutes. Not much but it would have been impossible without the gabapentin. Maybe I'll get on a ski slope this summer; the Andes? or New Zealand? or is this just wishful thinking?

                                Hi Sticky,

You could try splitting your dose even further, I found that to help a lot when going up.
