    Colin-

You have done so well logging your experiences and dosages on various medications. One item that is sticking out is that when you started your experiment with AL in early April I am seeing a pattern of retrained but continued alcohol use. Forgive me if I am reading it incorrectly or misunderstanding, but I am concerned you may get bit.

The thing is, I think it is great that you could go so long without alcohol, but perhaps, you can go longer. My overriding concern is this bac is only a band-aid and if we push it too far we could bleed straight though and be back cleaning up and trying to stem more blood from flowing.

I am well aware that I'm very much on the edge. I want to know as exactly as possible how careful I need to be with alcohol. I am now in a phase where I'm drinking just as much as I feel like with only minor restraint. If I go over the edge there is always the next day to go back up with baclofen.

Right now the beer is probably just too tasty which suggests to me that I need a little more baclofen.

Thanks for your concern - I share it.

        Hi Colin

Thanks for your recent posts. We have something in common in that we both went to around 200 for a short time and came back down. I was at 210 for nearly 2 weeks then had to come down b/c of SEs and overdosing twice by mistake. Last week at 150 was great - only about 9 standard drinks on 3 nights in 1 week. This week at 120 and I'm nervous I might want to get plastered.

Your early morning drinking does sound concerning.

I've struggled to exercise at the very high doses (170 & over) but hope to be back into a good routine now.

        Take care

Exercising on HDB is still something I can't come to terms with yet. I sort of mean high intensity exercise. I can go for a bike ride or a walk no problem but even thinking of doing some sprints running or cycling... just the though makes me sick. Hopefully once I get stable I might feel more up for it.

            Modafinil

For some time I have been considering modafinil to help counteract the baclofen side-effects and yesterday looked around the internet for suppliers. Unfortunately it is only available in the Netherlands with a doctor's prescription and the off-shore pharmacies don't deliver either.

So on to plan B where I searched for info to convince the psychiatrist and I got a couple of hits straightaway.

                May 21 - Jun 3

Baclofen has been nearly constant at 137mg p d; only a few times dropping to 125 when I wanted to be more alert. The dosing changed slightly from 3/2, 1, 3/2, 3/2 (25 mg pills) to 3/2, 1, 1, 2 which seems to be an improvement - for the last three days no naps at all.

Regular exercise maintaining the 10% weights increases every 4 weeks - let's hear it for baclofen.

Gabapentin has been increased from 2.4 grams pd to 3.0 gpd with a noticeable improvement. The nerve specialist considers this to be the maximum. The pain threshold has improved but is still too noticeable - the lady seems to have more tricks in her bag.

Drinking has been 50, 40, 20, 24, 20, 40, 0, 40, 40, 0, 60, 20, 30, 20, 10 grams of alcohol per day with no attempt to control the amount. I was drinking just what I wanted. [40 grams per day is the upper limit of the WHO for low risk alcohol consumption.]

Hope ya'all don't mind me poking my nose in almost every active thread to say hi... I'm trying to really get engaged in this community

Colin, it looks like your bac protocol is working quite well... many days at 40 units or significantly under... that's really great. Congrats!

Also, seriously cool to hear about your strength gains... I'm hoping for similar results.

Me, a mysogynist? You must be joking!

Ne/Neva Eva;1520636 wrote: Wow, Colin. It's not the inherent misogyny that shocks, that was readily apparent in many of your previous posts. It's the fact that you are so unashamedly blatant about it. Good thing you don't mind paying for it.
From wikipedia - "Misogyny /mɪˈsɒdʒɪni/ is the hatred or dislike of women or girls. "

There is nobody on the planet whom I hate. In another time and another place I would have hated Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung.

Hatred is an emotion reserved by myself for anybody that I would not want to dine with. It is also employed by young girls when they say something like "I hate him, I hate him, I hate him". Perhaps it is used by older girls when they are shocked.

Dislike? I spent a lot of my life chasing them during the much longer periods chasing my dragon. I liked them very much indeed when they succumbed to my lecherous advances. After having my evil way I would take them to the horse-races or dinner or anywhere else where alcohol was served. Believe me, I liked them and they liked me.

Euripides the poet, also, was much addicted to women: at all events Hieronymus in his Historical Commentaries speaks as follows,—"When some one told Sophocles that Euripides was a woman-hater, 'He may be,' said he, 'in his tragedies, but in his bed he is very fond of women.'"
                    —Athenaeus, Deipnosophists, 2nd/3rd century.

Euripedes was also castigated as a mysogynist because he preferred the missionary position. The logic being that with the man op top, the woman was in an inferior position.

My own experience is that some prefer one position and some prefer another but most have no clear favourite and like to play the field. I always prefer to satisfy their preferences regardless of how bizarre they might seem.

Another trait of mysogynists is to denigrate the achievements of women. Of the current crop of female politicians I rate Hilary Clinton and Angela Merkel at the very top of my list of all politions.
Although I am a socialist I rate Margaret Thatcher very highly. I disagreed completely with her politics but greatly admired her ability to achieve her goals.

I also note the lady who introduced me to the pleasures of fellatio: I fell in love with her technique and she was definitely in the driving seat. Furthermore cunnilingus might be a hell of a mouthful but if that is what she wants, that is what she gets.

                    I rest my case.

EDIT: I've just experienced a personal first: squeezing blackheads out of her armpits. It's very difficult due to all the fat and muscle just under the skin. If that means I don't like them I'm a virgin olive grower.

                      That's all well and good.

It was still a post in very poor taste, and I wouldn't mind it if you'd remove it, or edit it. In fact, I'd really appreciate it. We all get the sentiment.

Since when was poor taste a problem here? Either way I've replaced pussies with pipes: this should unruffle some feathers.

A remarkable evening. At about 8 pm I fancied a few ales and a few laughs with the consequence that I sailed of to a boozer on my bicycle. It's more than 30 degrees centigrade so nothing energetic.

On arriving at the first port of call I ordered a 25 cl beer and it sailed down without touching the sides. On to the second and no problem at all. Now, the going gets tricky: a very tasty 10 yr old Laphraoig and another beer brought me to that pleasant state where all women of any shape and age were beginning to look attractive. So, off to the knocking shop and a fruitionless half-hour. I would normally consider this a failure but with everything else just going my way, who cares?

Back on the bike at about 9:30 and off to the local boozer where another beer and a 10 yr old Cardhu were consumed.

I'm now home and curious about the immediate future: was I being too aggressive with my altered behaviour?

It's a tricky one for sure. I'm perfectly capable of overdoing things while indifferent.

I think the big difference is that choice is now available. I just don't always make the sensible one.

And thanks for editing the post.
