just started with baclofen, a bit desperate

oh, and for dutch speakers: EenVandaag :: Wondermiddel bij alcoholverslaving?

i felt annoyed by some parts of it, even enraged by others, but hey: attention for baclofen on dutch tv.
and how great & courageous that someone outs himself because of this cause.

      Dear Joanna,
i am new to this site but I have read all your posts since you started your baclofen journey. What you have achieved with reducing your drinking has been so inspiring.

My fingers are crossed for good outcomes for you with your medical investigations.

      Best wishes

      Caro

A friend of mine attended me to the broadcast, so I waited for it, saw it and wished I had watched an episode of Star Trek instead.

The trial of the University of Amsterdam wasn't even mentioned. It all spinned around psychiatrist Bakker and they showed an alcoholic that had been on baclofen for only a few weeks.

Sure, it did get baclofen some attention, but it didn't make much of an impression to me.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I keep my fingers crossed and wish you a lot of strength. I hope it will turn out to be something small. Hope you will be o.k.

and i'm so fucking tired... i hate that!! this could be baclofen related of course, but i doubt it is (completely), cause this fatigue is hard to get around.
could also be a result of subconscious tension. though i feel i'm hanging in there quite fine, i'm not near panicking or anything. aside from moments of calling for results and all, i don't feel that tense. my non alkie me is quite good at handling things!

            waiting sucks.
Waiting does suck. Please keep us posted.

            My prayers are with you!

            Cheers! :l

                thanks all of you!!

no results yet, just more frustration. last night the pain got so bad, even on sleeping meds (i got them to get me through the nights right now, cause i wake up about 8 times a night because of the painful pressure on my bladder. i'm starting to detest peeing!) and an unhealthy amount of pain killers i had trouble sleeping. the pain extended through my legs, right onto my ancles.

so this morning i called the doctor's again, to hear the result still wasn't there. i said i can't take this anymore, explained, and asked for antibiotics. one of the tests this week turned up a not dangerous bacterial infection, that doesn't nearly fit the symptoms i'm having so i disregarded it straight away. but now i thought at least i can get antibiotics for that, and maybe they will help relieve some of the other pain.
the doctor also referred me to a hospital, the geanocology department, cause she wanted my cervix checked cause she'd seen something there that shouldn't be there (see former post).
so i called the hospital, and the first free space they had for an appointment is februari 22. they told me to ask my doctor to make an emergency appointment for me, because my symptoms sounded alarming. and only a doctor can make emergency appointments.
so i called the doctor again, and it turned out she can only make emergency appointments like these if she first gets alarming test results. apparently severe pain and noticing things that shouldn't be there isn't enough to make an emergency. medical bureaucracy.
                *sigh*
after calling to and fro went to get my blood drawn, then to the chemists for the antibiotics, walked the dog, ate and further was too tired to do much more. what an exciting way to spend your days huh!

so. blood results on tuesday, by then the cervical cancer result will be in also i hope, and until then...

                    Dear Jo,

Just a thought, if your symptoms get worse over the weekend could you present yourself to the A&E Department at your local hospital?

In the UK they will see people if they present themselves (sorry not sure of the system in Holland).

But of course over the weekend it is busy and you may think it is more trouble than it is worth.

I really hope things improve for you very soon.

                    kindest regards

                    Caro

aahhhhhh people this morning i learned it isn't cancer!!!!!!!!

thanks so much for your sweet messages. again: so heart warming, all of you.... :l

tomorrow i'm finally having an emergency appointment at gyneacology in hospital because of the irregularities my doctor saw, and maybe an echo of my intestines will follow (yikes...).
but i'm not worried about that. if they find something (there are some options open), it's unlikely to be life threatening or anything.

and about the extreme fatigue: the sleeping pills i was taking to get me through the night with all that pain and peeing, work on GABA-a, and have a long half life (8-20 hrs). i'm guessing that the combination of those and baclofen is the cause for the extreme tiredness. why the !%##!! didn't i think of that before?
so: one resolution makes another symptom.
and again, this is something i've had to make my own theory about, 'cause of course no one has any experience with HDB...

                          *sigh....* (of relief that is)
