I know what you mean about mainstream media. I avoid them because they make me so crazed. In my opinion they're ignoring the most important part of the election: Romney is doing away with social security and Obama has a plan to fix it that has been vetted by many organizations as do-able. 35 years of paying into it without one year of lapse, and I'm not going to accept a damn voucher from the Republicans. All these people making decisions about our futures - they don't pay into or depend on SS, they get a fully PROTECTED pension system paid into by taxpayers, while SS is paid into by the income producing people of this country who expect to get support from it when their time comes. It's not an 'entitlement' ... and it should not be part of the Federal Budget anymore than the Federal Pension should be - and isn't.

Morning, everybody! DG! So nice to *see* you! And thanks! Hope all is well and that school is going swimmingly.

Thanks everyone for well wishes. We're back to regularly scheduled programming today! Most businesses are still closed, and a lot of areas are flooded, or will get some water during the high tide today, but that's not unusual for us around here. It never seemed as though it was more than a really long rain in our neighborhood, but the beach properties (about a mile from here) were hit hard. It happens. And the owners will likely rebuild in exactly the same spot, just like always. The sun is out, though, and it's a lovely crisp fall day!

How do things fare in the rest of the world?

DG, my thread is retired. There are several other threads serving well for community togetherness, so the Bruun thread isn't needed. This one, for example. I'm not on any specific med therapy so there's no need for my own thread to help & educate the newbies and lurkers although I wish I did have the perfect solution to share!

Howdy everybody!

I have a reprieve with the school thing, DG. It's an incredible gift given the move and the new house and the...and the...and the... Lol. Life. But all is well, and if anything it's hard to do the work because it's so easy to put it off because it's not that demanding. But I'll take it! I find out this month whether or not I got into the nursing program. Fingers and toes are crossed, prayers and thoughts out there...

Those two classes sound really, really fascinating. When do you finish up? Should be soon, right? Have you worked with anyone in an official capacity yet? Some sort of internship?

I'm definitely missing some peeps around here.

This is going to seem very random to anyone that is not getting email updates on this thread. Reggie did a fly-by again.

G'day mate. Whaddaya mean not everyone in Australia speaks like that? You've ruined it for me. Now I have no urge to visit. From what I gather, the only thing left after the accent and the cute/sexy lingo is a huge dustbowl full of convicts England wouldn't take back at any cost. Right?

I have a particular love for the cartoon whirling-dervish tasmanian devil. I am not so sure that I would want to see one, however. They remind me of pine martens, which is a wily creature I encountered in Wyoming. They have wicked sharp teeth and no respect for size or the food chain (??), apparently. The damn thing had something in it's mouth. I walked around a car to see what it was and where it was going and it made a u-turn and headed straight toward me. I had to back up, and actually get in the car, before it went away. And then it took it's own sweet time making sure I wasn't going to be quite so nosy again.
I ran into a couple of bears when I was out there. They respect the food chain. I respect the size. We went our separate ways. The pine marten scared me more.

What else is news? Did you have a good Sunday? Fishing? Is it finally warming up down yonder?

Oh. And I don't talk politics here, ever. But I am going to be devastated if it doesn't turn out the way I hope and pray and wish and think and have worked for. Apparently, though, there is a sizable portion of the country that feels the same way about the opposite outcome. It's very confusing to me that we are all absolutely certain that we are right. I heard this program yesterday, and found it fascinating and heart breaking.
